Anyone want to buy a Freelancer LTI et al? I've given up on SC. It's too extravagant for me.
just forget about the game until it comes out then decide on selling to a middleman.
just forget about the game until it comes out then decide on selling to a middleman.
I'd rather just sell now and use the cash on current endeavors.
I'd rather just sell now and use the cash on current endeavors.
I was gonna post the old "just leave an aurora in your account and forget about it for a year" but yeah, this is just a game and RL stuff is way, way more important. So yeah, the middleman thing might be the best way to make some cash
Arena Commander 1.1 confirmed in a few hours. Get hyped.
So, there's a big red banner on the site talking about impending server maintenance, and this was posted to the forums.
Hey everyone! We'll be bringing down the service this afternoon to publish 1.1.0! We're still working out last details but hope to have this ready around 4:30pm CDT/9:30pm GMT. This one's got big updates for both the launcher and the game, so as soon as we make the publish live, we'll be updating this with instructions and patch notes. Stay tuned! Will Leverett Game Support Manager Cloud Imperium Games
fucking ninja'd
what the fuck is this bullshit
IMPORTANT : To play 1.1 you will need to reinstall Star Citizen entirely. More on why and how to do it, including detailed instructions in English, French and German, in this post.
are you JOKING me fricken CIG Oh, also:
Starting with 1.1, you no longer access Arena Commander through your ships. Instead, every Hangar is now equipped with a SimPod that will let you play Arena Commander and, soon, Star Marine.
welcome to every single SC update since day one
welcome to every single SC update since day one
i've never had to re-install the entire video game if they're making it a trend i am not touching it till they include some major stuff like star marine
oh god oh mAN OH GOD OH MAN JESUS FUCK MY BANDWIDTH aaaaaaaaaAAAAA [editline]20th March 2015[/editline]
welcome to every single SC update since day one
You ONLY had to download the patch and then have it rewrite the entire game THIS IS ALL OF IT AT ONCE holy shit aaa
And to think I downloaded the whole damn game for the PTU last week. Oh well, least the download servers are slightly less shit now
Delta patching is on the to-do list, but for now, get over it, kids. They know how much we hate it, they hate it as well because the engineering and ops teams have to sit around for a couple hours after release, waiting for everyone to download it, before they can see if anything breaks horribly. 1.1 includes a ton of backend stuff so I'm not surprised if the reason everything has to be re-downloaded is because every major packed file got touched by changes. Game's still in alpha (technically pre-alpha), expect hard hat moments like this now and then.
Are you fucking kidding me? I have to reinstall this?
You people knew what you signed up for.
Uhh I always hate big downloads. so my relative's house have super fast internet, while my place has shitty internet. Can I download all the star citizen files on my relative's internet and place the completed file into a portable hard drive and bring it back? Will it work?
You can uninstall the PTU completely, there's half of that freed up. Might as well post the devs' reasons why this has to happen if we're gonna bitch about it:
How Re-Installing Star Citizen will help you: After 2 years of development Star Citizen has grown and matured considerably. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been the case with installing or patching. However, today with the release of the 1.1.0 build, we are attempting to clean up some of the problems players have been seeing when trying to download and play the game. We have released a new installer and switched our CDN to Amazon Cloudfront. Over 80% of our Metafile issues will be fixed with this, and it’s also the foundation for a future update to eliminate the notorious “Delete your USER folder” fix. On a more technical level: The new installer fixes many small installation bugs, crashes, and bad data errors players were seeing. The installer no longer defaults a player’s install to the “My Documents” folder, but the standard Program Files folder. With the new CDN, we have done away with the hundreds of incremental patches that were stored on our old provider. These hundreds of patches represented almost 600gigs of possible problems that players could encounter, leading to Metafile errors, Manifest errors, and other squirrely behavior. After today, there will only be two patches on our CDN; 1.0.3 -> 1.1.0 and Nothing -> 1.1.0. Also, download speed should have been significantly improved with this switch to Cloudfront, as well as many closer locations to download from. We hope the relatively clean slate and lower error rate will make up for the inconvenience of having to reinstall the game. There are more improvements on the horizon as well. We are working towards a new and significantly cleaner launcher that should make this whole experience more seemless. We strongly advise players follow these instructions step-by-step to minimize the chance of any unexpected technical issues.

Uhh I always hate big downloads. so my relative's house have super fast internet, while my place has shitty internet. Can I download all the star citizen files on my relative's internet and place the completed file into a portable hard drive and bring it back? Will it work?
I think that should be fine. I haven't really messed with SC in a while, but I think it's all contained to one folder.

Will it work?
People tend to make unofficial torrents of the update files, so you can just torrent them and drop them into the right place in the SC folder and it'll happily pick up from there. I don't imagine a torrent's gone up this quickly, though, but soon.
Well no use to whine about it, especially since i'm not in that bad of a situation since university offers me 100/100 unlimited. I feel bad for people with slower connections or with limited traffic. (Poor aussies)
So I was going to uninstall Star Citizen to download 1.1 and I can't find it in Control Panel. What the hell? [editline]20th March 2015[/editline] Nevermind found the uninstaller (it's in documents)

what the hell are you guys on about, we've been re-downloading the entire game for every major patch so far, how is this any different
It's pretty exciting that the game is now Star Citizen as opposed to Arena Commander. All the framework's in place for the addition of the FPS module, and more.
Just call it plasma, and imagine that it's called laser by the average Joe because it glows and burns things. Like how all guns are AKs to journalists.
IIRC in Wing Commander lore lasers were called that since they looked like what ancient 20th century movies called "lasers". Maybe it was some other universe, but it was like that. They blamed their usage of the trope on the trope itself :D
anyone knows what to do against this? [t]http://3kv.in/~techbot/ShareX/2015/03/21/Star_Citizen_Launcher_01-02-16.jpg[/t] never had that error before.
[t]http://a.pomf.se/zeecal.Png[/t] https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/242639/star-citizen-launcher-restarted-download#latest Oh well another 20gb. Had less than 3gb left to dl. [editline]21st March 2015[/editline] Looks like they are fixing it: https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/242640/patching-issues
Do you know where to find one of those torrent files? Where is the best place to get them?
Reddit, typically. Also, there were download issues with the last couple patches, and they just moved everything over to Amazon and rearranged things, so fuckups like that don't surprise me too hard. Usually they're reasonably good about getting them fixed quickly.
Now the error changed to this: [t]http://a.pomf.se/systbm.Png[/t] [editline]21st March 2015[/editline] Eh and now to this: [t]http://a.pomf.se/lifvsg.Png[/t]
My download restarted twice already. What the fuck.
yeeeeah just gonna wait till tomorrow to DL this...
About two fifths done...
