Trying to find ways to add credits. It's only giving me Stripe UK and Paypal UK to buy the thing. Is there an NA option or do I use the Stripe UK (I don't have the funds in Paypal)?
Also, that SXSW code seems to be invalid now, unless I have to use it somewhere else.
[editline]paid[/editline]
Well, paid using the Stripe UK option. Hopefully that was the correct one.
[editline]okay[/editline]
Looks like it worked. Might be able to play with someone by Wednesday.
The Aurora MR's an all-arounder, and several of its roles are currently pointless in the dogfighting meta, so for now the Mustang Alpha is the superior ship. It's faster and more maneuverable, but it holds less cargo and doesn't have a bed. Beds will be used to log out safely in space (though there will be a safe method of some kind for bedless ships), and Auroras can take the Big Box cargo container, which is 36 cargo units (according to current stats - NEVER RELY ON STATS) while the Alpha's just got its little cargo sled in the back (stats currently give zero cargo units but this is why you don't trust stats). The modularity system should allow you to make any ship do a reasonable amount of what you want, although cargo is going to affect handling. (I can't remember who, possibly Ben or Travis, was on stream going, just you wait until you see what loading up a ship with cargo does to its momentum.)
However, as the_killer24 said, you can switch freely between them. (You can also get an Alpha for $5 less by getting an MR and hopping it up this way.)
BTW, I hope everyone has noticed that using the SXSW code gives you 15% off on the Aurora and Mustang starter packages. ($38.25 USD instead of $45) Just a reminder. However, if you missed out and didn't get it in time, the SXSW landing page was taken down. But, I still have it, and I can buy a package for you and gift it to you--the only catch is that you won't count as a backer and you won't be able to gift the package yourself later. (Becoming a backer is as simple as buying anything on the RSI pledge store, even a $5 ship skin, if not a package.)

Update on MP from Will Leverett:
Edit #4: We're currently looking into further issues surrounding the "Searching for match"/"Match not found" errors.
- Internal tests show that we're able to join about one out of every six to eight matches. This will obviously be a frustrating experience tonight for those trying to play MP.
- We've got our engineering team working now to isolate the problem.
- This is outside of the concurrency cap we had earlier.
As we investigate, one of two things will happen:
- We find a hotfix solution and publish server-side fixes this week.
- If this can't be hotfixed and requires a full publish in next month's update, we'll trigger automatic reset of the matchmaking instance every 15 minutes (this is what we did this morning and many of you were able to play).
The second solution is a big Band-Aid to the larger problem, but should allow for much better access to MP matches than what was seen today.
As more information becomes available, I will let you know.
I hope that's only the matchmaking server and not the gameplay servers, because otherwise that's a recipe for total failure for anything other than short test drives. I think he's referring to the matchmaking host, specifically, and not the game servers, though.

restarting the matchmaking server shouldn't effect games in progress

Also, the game seems to be crashing more often for me, and typically I have a frozen screen, and hidden behind it (I have to three-finger salute to get the task manager up) is a "Star Citizen has stopped responding" box. Can't wait for 1.1.1.
If it's any help, since the latest patch I've had a wealth of performance issues dogging AC but also the Hangar. Have looked high and low but this actually really helped and everything is running pretty decently once more- certainly worth a shot if anyone's willing to give it a quick shot as only takes a minute.

Save it to your install directory's StarCitizen->CitizenClient folder, job done. If it doesn't work, just delete it.
Not all the above is necessary, some just use a few parts but it's reasonably self explanatory and can take a lot of fiddling to find what works for you. I just used the entire lot and it's squashed every problem I've had beyond my dang X52-Pro no longer apparently having a zero throttle spot as it keeps jumping up to 1/3 or so due to unknown reasons. Recalibration does nuzzink.

If you don't reddit, here's your weekly translations:
Q1. Since you assholes refuse to implement Viscera Cleanup Detail in spite of my repeated requests, will you at least let me clean up those Gold Horizon space stations that players will be fighting over?
A1. After you murder everyone on board you'll be able to repair and fix them up. Long term (ie never) you'll be able to add modules and we'll provide other space stations to fight over. Really. It will totally be a thing. I'm not just saying this so you'll spend more money.
Q2. Tax chat.
A2. Taxes will be simple. Mostly fees and sales tax. Orgs will be able to milk their members through a variety of ways (flat fees, percentages, etc).
Q3. Apparently I think asking about trees is important enough that everybody should know about it.
A3. Jesus fuck yes there will be fucking trees (also holy shit you have to watch Chris's response after at 6:39).
Q4. EXPLODING BARRELS! EXPLODING BARRELS?
A4. Exploding Barrels.
Q5. I have mining-induced priapism and I need to see a doctor. Can I dump my ore all over my hangar while I get this checked out? I mean a normal person would just leave it on their ship, but FUCK THAT IMMERSION DICTATES I DROP ROCKS EVERYWHERE.
A5. Keep it on the ship you fucking sperg. I mean fuck it, yeah you can leave the cargo in your hangar or whatever, but the Orion is WHERE ROCKS BELONG. THEY LIKE IT THERE. IT MAKES THEM HAPPY TO BE MELTED DOWN INTO METAL. Fucking nerds.
Q6. Man, fuck those nerds who just want Firefly in Star Citizen, right? Losers can't imagine a game with original IP (or just reskinned Wing Commander IP let's be honest here). It's kind of sad really. Oh by the way have you seen this awesome show called Farscape? There should totally be organic ships!
A6. Right now? No. Maybe later, after release, in that magical span of space and time where I dump all the wish fulfillment requests that people will pledge more for if I say yes.
Q7. Can I use my elite hacking skills to pretend my Aurora is a Bengal?
A7. Yup. There will be mechanics in place so you can hide your ID signal, or make your ship appear to be something else.
Q8. I don't understand that the modularity stretch goal has nothing to do with hardpoints.
A8. The modularity stretch goal has nothing to do with hardpoints.
Q9. Can I demand that people entering my ship relinquish their weapons? When will the cavity search module be implemented?
A9. You'll have the ability to scan people and determine if they're armed.
Q10. Can I fly my ship without that super awesome helmet that puts all the data I could possibly require right in front of me?
A10. Yeah, sure, whatever. You can pull a Han Solo and fly your Mary Sue around the galaxy in a duster and fedora. Some ships (ie the logically designed military ones) may require certain equipment to fly them.
All I need to know.
The bit where Chris talked about everything from cargo items to guns being handled in a similar way makes me wonder whether they may have a decoration system robust enough to rival that of Star Wars Galaxies. You can probably set up displays of your arsenal in your hangar, NRA member style, when the PU goes live.

I tend to watch them all anyway. It's good they've started putting the questions and timestamps in the description. You can always check to see if there are any good questions - There sometimes are.

it's the only way to stay sane with the retarded questions people post
To be fair, the question supposedly about the 'tree' was actually whether we'd be likely to see a lot of greenery in planetside landing zones, more nature-oriented areas as opposed to industrial areas.

Does Star Citizen allow custom emblems? Because I made one.

Thanks for the support, guys. We knew we could count on you. I also like the M50 instead of the bigass Tali that is actually the $275 ship.

Auroras: Masochists only
So...... have we heard anything about planetside mining? Or is it just going to be the asteroids as outlined in the mining post they made?
So...... have we heard anything about planetside mining? Or is it just going to be the asteroids as outlined in the mining post they made?
As far as we know, they've only talked about mining asteroids. It's possible if they created explorable areas on the surface of small planets with very thin atmospheres, they'd allow mining there.

If they allow player-owned living spaces that aren't based adjacent to your hangar or on a ship, I'm buying a condo or beachfront home on Terra.
God I want planetside to be good. I don't want to feel like I want to just go down to planets to sell shit, then go back up.

Naw. CR says there'll be plenty to do. Not like Elite.
I tried manual landing today; I lost both wings of the ship.
Is there a way to not have leadfoot disease when landing manually aside from tapping F as lightly as possible?
Less than a month ago, there were around 740,000 backers. That number's gone up by 100,000 just like that. It's crazy that a game that won't be out for another two years, roughly, already has so much support.

Decoupled mode. Tapping down once will start you moving down slowly.
Decoupled mode. Tapping down once will start you moving down slowly.
and if that's still too fast (looking at you, m50) tap space for spacebreak
Landing is easy with mine. Just click the top right button, gently pull the knob down and let inertia do the rest.

Also my roll and yaw swap places when decoupled, so when I'm decoupled the twist controls my roll. Makes it more like shooting gallery controls

Either whoever picking the questions picks dumb questions, or the people who submit questions to Chris are idiots. Likely both. Whenever you get Travis and Darian on, the quality of the questions goes up dramatically and so do the answers. Those are always worth watching. I wish they filled in for Chris more often.
Decoupled thrusters are way better for landing, thanks for pointing that out. Any tips on actually fighting things without passing out or getting blown to bits? :v:

There are separate settings in the controls. It's Roll and Yaw, and Decoupled Roll and Decoupled Yaw. I only know this cause I have to change them every damn patch
