The Mustang doesn't belong in Star Citizen.
They could fix pretty much all of its problems by just taking the engines off of the top of the wings and put them on the bottom to put them more in-line with the center of mass. Tone down the overdesigned wings and fix the stupid engines and it'd be great.
Then report it as a bug. As far as I can tell, the thrust effects are visible for all other ships.
People have already reported it, that is not my point. My point is not the bug but the overall situation. Fact is currently you need a great deal of RCS thrust output on the gladius to even think of reversing, at least much more than the main thruster and reversing poorly at that. Simply because the RCS thrusters on the gladius is very limited, and have not much room to gimbal. The designers in the first place should had taken that into account but they did not and will be ever more complicated to fix, that could involve redesigning where the RCS thrusters are placed or adding more RCS thrusters to compensate.
Except they don't. Thrusters don't necessarily need to fire forward directly to have reverse trust, but the Gladius small manuvering thrusters shows no indication of doing so.
all ships have reverse thrusters, but sometimes they're hidden and/or not part of the stats for example, I know both the m50 and mustang have retro thrusters mounted inside the intakes, which you can see when you hit the breaks, they're just not reported on the stats page
I got a stick and after warming up with sc i tried the prototype. At first it felt really floaty but i got used to how the crosshair moved after not too long. if i was using this i might reduce the amount the crosshair movement per amount of joystick tilt, specifically i'd make sure the crosshair didnt go outside the range of my gimbals in sc especially for joystick use, otherwise you get edge cases with the gimbals that can cause a lot of problems. With the right curves you get get more precision, too. also: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16970274/Screenshots/StarCitizen%202015-03-30%2010-11-25-26.png Thats firing at a 90 degree angle with the gladius nose gatling using HOMAS. you have a 180 horizontal arc to fire in. Yeah it's not behind you, but it's a hell of a it of room.

While sure it might look a bit dumb, I can see how in universe there would be a "Stupid Sports car" spaceship and new "Spacer" young and foolish, with a little more money than sense might save up his pennies and buy a "stang" as his first ship ready to set out across the stars on adventure while he's still young and invincible. Perhaps that's why Mustang packages are relatively cheap, to represent how an upstart might begin his journey with something flashy and silly, we as players know better and that something with a bigger cargo hold or one of those borderline milspec fighters would serve as a better starting point, allowing you to hunt bounties or haul goods for them mad stacks. Just a thought.

It makes me wonder how many other ships have "phantom thrusters" to make them flyable.
So after deciding Star Citizen wasn't for him, Seiteki moved on to Elite: Dangerous. Poor guy.
Seiteki please come back to us, everythings going to be okay! :'c
[t]https://i.imgur.com/qFUVyhC.jpg[/t] Thanks for talking about the game, not the money, guys. Some guy on Reddit took his Cutlass out racing and has actually beat people with it (and they were mad). This seems like it could be a fun FPCorp event. REC a Cutlass (if you don't own one), FPCorp Cutlass Race Championship.
Yo elix wanna fiddle the diddle on the AC
It's a little early in the day for me, but, sure, let's give it a shot. Anyone else (I see you active in this thread you bastards) available? Get in the TS (prfn.se) instead of posting.
Developer say they fixed the decouple bug, also 1.1a coming later this week.
New 10FTC out. On an unrelated note, I'm not entirely satisfied with the way ships like the Cutlass act when they're destroyed. One thing I was favourably impressed by when the dogfighting module first went live was A) the ability to shoot pieces off enemy ships and have that damage reflected on the model; and B) the fact that 'killing' a ship did not necessarily make it disintegrate into space dust - You could fire a shot into the canopy of a scythe, kill the pilot, and have a very dead, otherwise intact hull of a ship spin away into oblivion. So far, that seems to have held true with most other ships. Still, the Cutlass, when destroyed, breaks itself into twenty little pieces and spins apart. Not very nice. Imagine a battle with larger ships, like the Constellation. If four or five Hornets tear into it with laser cannons and manage to bring it down, I wouldn't necessarily expect it to break apart. If it got hit by something like the torpedo from a Retaliator, now that's a different matter. When they make the Cutlass conform to the new damage model, I hope they take that into consideration.
Also the cutlass has the issue that shooting the detached cockpit part of the ship doesnt take damage if you hit the wrong places.

I don't see the problem with the title, it lets you know exactly what it's about. It's not like they're going to keep doing articles over old ships/gameplay when they've probably already done that.
Welp, I feel a little bit crappy. Could use something to perk me up, anyone feel like hopping into AC for a free flight? I'll stay logged in to prfn.se on teamspeak for about an hour.
That was a fun and interesting few hours, especially finding a few dozen bugs just by running around the hangar. We need more folks to join in on the fun next time.
That was a fun and interesting few hours, especially finding a few dozen bugs just by running around the hangar. Me and Banned fucked around for a few hours, I brought my Cutlass, he brought his Aurora, I killed him a lot, we laughed, he discovered he could disable all my engines with a salvo of his missiles, and watched me spin helplessly into oblivion. Good times. I also discovered that the 'Missile Evaded' message that flashed across my screen WAS A DAMN LIE.
Poke me on Steam next time, Arch. I was fucking about in Skylines, and as much fun as that was, I would've happily played "Ram the Cutlass" in my Aurora with quad badgers (in case the play got rough). Ask Xavith about my inability to resist ramming people in free flight, especially delicate M50s.

His mistake was warning me by screaming "Allahu Ackbar!" before he tried to ram me. I managed to get out of the way in time.

Add me on steam as well, just spam me whenever anyone wanna rumble

Q1. Seriously, how fucking hard is it to let people jump into a free flight game that's already in session? Isn't that basically STAR CITIZEN? A1. It turns out that pushing your employees into a constant two year crunch mode causes some things to be overlooked. Please excuse me while I find the appropriate underling and flog him until morale improves. Q2. I can't throw a party in real life because I have no real friends, but I've found enough losers like me that I can fill an entire hangER where we awkwardly stand around waiting for something to happen and pretend we're having fun. Sort of like a SC Live Event. You'll make it so that I can invite people when I want, and kick them out of my hangER when I get bored? A2. Iteration 1 of the social module is going to have a friends list (that Chris already wants to redesign) where you send invites to people and then use the elevator in your hangAR to join them. Incidentally the FPS module supposedly fits 32 people into one instance (AKA HALF THE CREW SIZE OF A FUCKING IDRIS), but since Arena Comman- EXCUSE ME STAR CITIZEN 1.1 is such an unoptimized mess you'll be lucky to see 8 people. We're totally working on that, we promise, apparently making one of the most graphically intense games ever created also be a MMO IS A BIT DIFFICULT. Also the social module will be delayed at least a month past the FPS release because you idiot manchildren would all suffer atypical autoerotic fatalities. Q3. HOLY SHIT A GOOD QUESTION. If I use a ballistic weapon that's smaller than the maximum size permitted in a given hardpoint, can I stuff the extra space with more ammo? A3. NO. You will not be able to fit a size 1 gun into a size 3 slot, because THAT WOULD BE SILLY. There might be an adapter that allows you to do this (say fit two size 1 guns and a spare box of ammo), but in general weapon slots need to match. The adapter will cost $20. Also I totally called you "Abysmal Dragon" when nobody was looking. Q4. YOU HAVEN'T MENTIONED LINUX WITHIN THE LAST TWENTY FOUR HOURS OH GOD CHRIS DON'T ABANDON ME! A4. It's not our fault. Really. The game is basically fucking compiled in Linux, but the graphics drivers are shit. Blame CryTek, or what's left of them. Q5. Clearly your completely logical and not at all arbitrary weapon hardpoint system only applies to those plebian fighters, right? Because otherwise you're rendering my MARY SUE MILLENNIUM FALCON FIREFLY PROXY USELESS BEFORE I GET TO FLY IT YOU BRITISH BASTARD. A5. The next time you worry about the ship stats page, punch yourself in the dick. Q6. HOLY SHIT ANOTHER GOOD QUESTION. It's been nearly two years since you said anything about space suits, and if the FPS development is like everything else I assume that design document is fucking useless. So how much protection can I wear while still being able to fly around, and how many hours will I have to spend playing a minigame to put on pants because immersion demands it? A6. Small ships will probably require you to wear light armor, bigger ships that have more room and probably let you wear medium. Heavy and titan armor will require you to sit around with your thumb up your ass waiting for something to happen. Seriously boarding sounds like the definition of "hurry up and wait" while the guy driving the space truck has all the fun. We have no fucking clue how long armor will take to put on but it will probably be a quick animation that purists will bitch about being totally unrealistic. Fuck those guys. Q7. I need to decide what VR headset to declare to be the ONE TRUE HEADSET that will be superior to all others and therefore worthy of my undying love while I relentlessly scorn those who would choose a lesser screendoor to stare through. On a completely unrelated note, which one do you like? A7. Only a fucking idiot would commit to one VR platform. Q8. I was one of the few people who actually attended PAX East (THANKS AGAIN FOR NOT STREAMING THE REVEAL OF A NEW MODULE CIG HOLY SHIT) and saw the energy grapple. That's not good enough. My wish fulfillment request is that you make a grappling hook with wires to go along with my "combustion pistol" that's definitely something you would see 900 years in the future. A8. Fuck man, I don't know. There's just a few things that are higher on the priority list. LIKE EVERYTHING. Q9. Can I get my gore porn fixation from Star Citizen? A9. Yes, long term we're going to utilize the same damage model that you've seen implemented with the Gladius in the FPS module. We intentionally branched off the FPS awhile ago so that Illfonic would work with something that was stable-ish, so it will be awhile before you see it. Q10. CAN I LOCK DOORS? A10. Yes. Fuck you.
With regards tovtranlated q5. He ain't british, he was born and lives in the US but grew up and spent his childhood in Manchester. Every other word he says flits between a british accent and an american one. I know i've said it before and shit sounds werid, just take a closer listen.
So has BANNED joined the space terrorism group?
Space terrorism you say? If it's anything like domestic terrorism you can count me in.
let's check out Google now.... [t]http://i.imgur.com/kdzlZEh.jpg[/t] oh okay
It's a good article though.
It's a good article though.
Great title, really show that they really weren't bias.
Great title, really show that they really weren't bias.
I don't know, half-built is being pretty generous.
I don't know, half-built is being pretty generous.
No shit a pre-alpha game is half-built, I never see THIS PREORDER GAME GOT A FUCKTON OF MONEY, BUT YOU DONT HAVE IT YET articles.
