fucking badass, using atmosphere shaders to really give you a feel for the size of this thing: [t]http://i.imgur.com/vkwoJ2S.png[/t]
Please tell me we shall have battles where fighters are zipping close to the hull of these huge ships battling it out while the bigger ships are throwing lasers at each other. The thought is really awesome.
That sounds like Star wars battlefront (ps2 one).
Please tell me we shall have battles where fighters are zipping close to the hull of these huge ships battling it out while the bigger ships are throwing lasers at each other. The thought is really awesome.
elite dangerous had a neat cap ship battle cinematic trailer but after going back it looks really lackluster. Given the training has you pull some semi-tight maneuvers through some of the broken asteroids I don't think they'd be strangers to making you pull some fun stuff in the actual game content, but in the PU and multiplayer experiences you just won't see it. NPCs know to avoid obstacles and players know it's a huge risk to try squeezing through stuff when it'd take you just a few seconds more to fly clear around something. however, in ED I did enjoy using cap ships for cover while pulling tight maneuvers close to the hull and through larger openings, so other fighters had to slow down and fly blind to my position while I set myself up. Same could be said about flying through asteroids right now, but there's way too much debris to comfortably skim around stuff while keeping my eye on targets at times. The terraformer is pretty OK at being this large obstacle to use for shielding and drawing people through potentially bad decisions to follow, so it'll do for now, but there's something way more powerful about having a cap ship to keep enemies on edge with constant fire

Anyone know how can i force a changemap ? The command map/level/changelevel seems to be removed, even if it's a default CryEngine command... I'm trying to change map on the ... *cough* ... 40gb version.

Of course you could just swap folders and rename them to the original. Works best if you swap Broken Moon/Dying Star in Freeflight. The alternative is that you make a launch shortcut and add +map TE_GoldHorizon for instance but this will launch the map with the HangarApp gamerules and you will spawn below the map. Icefox still hasn't replied on how he changed gl_gamerules so if you want to actually get a chance to walk around in the other maps you will do the first method.

Or you're on board a Kingship as a strike force, and then suddenly the Retribution warps in, and you've got to get OFF the Kingship before the Ret sends it to alien hell.

My group of local friends who want to fly together is currently up to 5 "for sure" players, perfect crew to man and defend on a regular basis, and the thing can take a LOT more crew (like if we had like an FP hangout, hint hint nudge nudge). For instance, the lunch tables inside the main cabin 'seat 16', and the concept art for some of the central body segments show even more seating/bedding and it's likely to have various module segments covering various roles. the upgrade would be like 25 bucks a person for my local friends to invest in it so I think that's pretty fair to trade up to a group ship. why do I have to fall in love with all the ships with no light at the end of their development hell tunnels though [editline]e[/editline]
why do I have to fall in love with all the ships with no light at the end of their development hell tunnels
This is me simultaneously dreading and anticipating the Genesis starliner reveal. I'm almost certain it'll be out of my budget unless I melt almost everything, or is a space learjet the size of a Connie. My to-get-in-the-PU list is going to take years to complete. My first major goal, though, is to violate Xi'An sovereignty and make contact with the Kr'Thak. I hope CIG has something for that.

You can also Change Maps by Edit the Scripts.pak, this is bascialy the Magic Pak. Since we have the tools all is pretty easy. But still try to figure out, how to get Dummy in. Dummy's get called via Console and LUA File.
So the composer for the old wing commander games found ink plots from the wing commander tv show. might as well mention this here because there isn't a wing commander thread.
This thread is kind of unofficially the "Chris Roberts general megathread", since the only CR-related threads I can find with activity are two Freelancer server threads that haven't had posts since 2014. A reminder that Fox's rights to the Wing Commander movie expire sometime this year, if they haven't already, and CR wants them back so he can eventually release a director's cut of it without studio meddling. [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/uo0u4ecs0wru1r/source/Reliant_FoldingWings_REV1_WIP_Hobbins.png[/t] For subscribers, there's a Vault dump with Reliant concept WIPs.

For those of you talking about changing maps in the leak, this is the correct way to do so. Go in the tools folder, and open the remote console program, this will allow you to use the console while the game is running (works for stock game too) gl_GameRules FPS_TeamElimination Changes game rules to FPS mode... then map TE_GoldHorizon As for the dummyplayers, i had to make a bit of a hack with cheat engine. Edit: If you just wanna walk around the map without needing cheat engine, you can use this (you wont get FPS guns though) gl_GameRules S42_Default

They were talking about a mod of mine and having trouble with it so I registered to explain what the problems were.
I think those foldy wings should have been in the sale release pictures
They were, although it wasn't highlighted and I even posted the picture it appears in, specifically pointing it out because it's just tucked away in there with no mention.
Also, the Reliant's wings fold for storage. Subtly tucked away in the corner here: [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/3hqfep3qygo85r/source/Reliant_LandedConfig_Final_Hobbins.png[/t]

We have not seen: [del]Argo[/del] (transport ship) Crucible Endeavor Genesis starliner The unnamed new corvette and battlecruiser (may not even be in concept yet) [del]the Xi'An cargo ship[/del]
BTW, these are in the leak, and pics/video are out. The Xi'An cargo ship (URL is the first of a set of pics of it in a larger gallery of leaks) is very early, still being blocked out in whitebox. The Argo's further along and is kind of like a space tractor. This YouTuber threw some texturing on to show it better. I want one, or at the very least, I want to be the Argo pilot to steer it out of the ass of the carrack/connie/etc. in FPCorp missions. In theory, an Argo should be able to grab escape pods for rescue, so this launching from the back of a Constellation would make for a superior S&R vehicle to a Cutlass Red except that the Red has beds for days, and the Cutlass's probably going to be faster than a Connie. I suppose a Connie and a Red working together would be even better, because you have both come in and aggressively discourage interference, and then the Connie launches the Argo and the Argo brings the ejected pods to the Cutlass's hatch for intake while the Connie keeps watch. -snip- [sp]if you have the leak, don't do anything silly with rcon, CIG has been notified of a security vulnerability[/sp]
I can't wait for the game to come out and the story to get going. Can you imagine if they make an alien expansion with a new alien race to attack the galaxy or something? Have some player explorer going out and finding their beacon and accidentally activating it (thinking it's just a cool little thing he found) and then going into history as the guy who brought forth the invasion. He could die as soon as they get there and be remembered for that, or maybe the player will go back and warn others and end up leading us against the scourge. Or people are dicking around in the FPS model and one of the missions is on an archaeological dig site or something and they unearth things not meant to be seen... really, if they don't use the system to make expansions this big surprise thing, I'm going to be disappointed.
If you put in super rare shit people can find and trigger, might as well combine it with procedural generation of Star Systems. Otherwise that shit will be found in a week.
In either a 10FTC or a similarly-official format, it was discussed that there might be an alien artifact floating around for one person to find, and when they find it and bring it to the authorities, they get a reward and their name's recorded as the discoverer. ...and then about two weeks later, scientists discover how to improve engines by 10% or something from analyzing the artifact's bizarre properties, and the market begins seeding with the new tech. That's how they intend on introducing some things, instead of just patch notes: - added new engine parts Just like how an update might add new star systems, but those systems will remain under wraps until someone discovers the jump point and becomes the discoverer (whether they come back alive and report the new system to the authorities for naming rights is another thing). Also, I figured out how to get into Astro Arena and explore, but I have no grapple gun so zero-g travel involves praying I don't fall out of the map. [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TChOt_iUhIc[/hd] More videos, where I try and maneuver myself around the arena with almost no control and discover that I have microgravity boneitis. Man, the arena looks gorgeous, and this isn't even the finished version. Uhhh.... guys? I did it... I got into ArcCorp's Area 18 landing zone alive. [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqGho_C62Mk[/hd]
Still need some Network expert. WE got the FPS Module almost working, sadly we have a error which require maybe some Network Coding.
Has this been posted before?
That thing is massive.
seeing the runway at the nose is REALLY misleading to its actual scale, I think the road-like markers don't help that out. At first glance you'd assume you could fit two small/medium ships on the runway side-by-side but seeing stuff parked along the sides inside really put it into good perspective
I wonder how they're going to handle the carrier turning while you fly down the runway tunnel. Hopefully there'll be something to compensate for motion while inside or else it'll be extremely easy for you to smash into the walls if the carrier moves.
Somewhere in a 10FTx someone asked about setting your frame of reference to be a capship, and there was a "yes" in some capacity for that. I'm sure IFCS will be able to calibrate for big local frames of reference like carriers. Eventually. I've gotten the game to start the countdown for the Sataball game mode, but predictably when it counts to zero and should begin the match, it crashes.
I'd imagine it'd be in the same vein as the ship-local gravity that allows you to walk around without getting smashed by the ship's movement

Looking past the optimization issues and bugs (and those are excusable because this isn't the polished release CIG wants us to have), I'm so pleased and excited by this. Also, it seems like some guy on Reddit got it to work much sooner, and with a fuckton of NPCs spawned in. I like my quieter version.
Courtesy of Reddit, whilst the Hornet wasnt picked as winner for Lego Ideas, they're still considering the model for release, fingers crossed!
Holy shit, that direct shout-out at 3:04 tho As long as it doesn't cost as much as a digital F7C, I'll fucking buy one.
