So that's what LTI stood for.
.
They seem to enjoy making concept characters after holywood actors.

GG CIG, add shields to VD, don't bother giving temp stats or even a rough idea of what they do. Or even their size. Bah, I'll just duct tape the largest one to my Aurora, has to be better than the butter shields it has now...
They just patched AC, 1.0.2
Notes: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link//14487-Patch-102
But, i just played a few rounds, and god damn does that mustang invulnerability fix make a difference. Swatting them like flies. i just went 10/0 in a stock 300i. Though i also do that to hornets if it's not a decent pilot, but with mustangs it really only takes 1-2 accurate volleys, one to open a hole in the shields and the next will kill it if it hits the main hull, not even the cockpit.
There's a design post for shields tomorrow. The shields available so far seem to be two variants, either better at stopping direct impacts or missile bursts, with a corresponding drawback to the other.
Hey guys,
I'm really sorry about the confusion here. The shields, gun and skins were NOT intended to go live until tomorrow. We are working on a comprehensive design post to explain how shields work (and hopefully to give you the information you need to decide if you want another generator) to go with the rollout. There will also be a sale post with the details about everything (how to change skins and generators with the holotable and so on.)
If you purchased a shield generator this morning that doesn't fit on a hangar-ready ship you own, we will absolutely refund you or swap it for UEC.
Ok, so I haven't been active in this game for like a year and I recently decided to get updated and wow has the DFM improved. Anyways, I was thinking it's time to get a better ship since right now I only have the Aurora LTI and a Freelancer which means for now I can use the Hornet in AC but since that will change I decided to upgrade it to an Avenger.
Originally planning to go for a Hornet for it's fighter capabilities I decided I want something cooler for future bounty hunting etc. except after trying the Avenger I can't decide wether I should just upgrade to a hornet or if I should go for something radically different like a Cutlass Black, so basically I guess this question gets asked a million times but what ships have you guys picked and why etc.? Just curious as I decide which ship to choose.
If you already have a Freelancer, the Cutlass and Freelancer would overlap too much. If I was buying a new ship (I have only a Freelancer) I would make sure to get something to do stuff that the Freelancer can't do well.
A Hornet is the first thing that comes to mind, but I don't know if you're willing to drop that kind of money on internet spaceships for a Persistent Universe that won't be playable for at least another year.
The cheaper dedicated fighter option is the Gladius, which I really like the look of and should be a respectable dogfighter. Although, I am wary of the complete lack of cargo space. I also used to really want an M50 because it was so completely opposite of what the Freelancer can do. It'd be a fun little runabout for when I just need to get somewhere and it can hold its own in a fight, A-Wing style. I don't think you can buy M50s anymore though, and I don't think they were cheap either.
When the game comes out I'll probably be going for a Mustang Delta first because again, its role complements the Freelancer. It should also be fairly cheap and attainable. If I was to buy a ship right now, it's what I'd end up buying.
unfortunately, the community (and CIG based on previous patches) are dead-set on making the m50 completely non-viable for anything other than racing
Hey guys,
First of all: we should not ever ask you to test Voyager Direct equipment. I apologize if the (now deleted) thread implied that. If you purchased a Tarantula because of this thread, please contact me via PM and I will award you the UEC back (and let you keep the gun.) (If you want a full refund, please contact CS and they'll take care of you.) We love feedback, but the policy is that we are never going to ask you to pay more money to test a particular feature. In the future, if we need feedback on a particular weapon that's not otherwise available, we will do a 'free fly' week with it, or otherwise distribute it without UEC or dollars charged.
We are doing two things to make Voyager Direct weapons better. The first is the promised "AC Bucks" system, which will allow players to acquire ships and equipment using credits earned in the game. I know there's been a lot of speculation about this because we haven't said much beyond the fact that it is happening... and that's going to change very soon! Internally, design has delivered a system which Chris is happy with, and now we're going to share that with you once the last few rough edges are sanded off. Our design team is working up a 'for public comment' post which we will put out next week. It's going to explain the system we've come up with and ask for your feedback. From there, we'll begin implementation in Arena Commander (which will likely take several weeks, all told.) (I will also note that the reason you're seeing more and more devices show up in VD is because we're confident that this system is going to work and we will need an inventory when it kicks off.)
The second is that we have also started the process for allowing players to 'melt' Voyager Direct items. There are some heady logistics involved here (how does it impact the UEC cap? Or more importantly: can people game the system?), as well as web time to enable the system... but it is coming.
And if you have any other ideas, we'd certainly love to hear them. The fact is, the idea that Arena Commander might be seen as 'pay to win' came as a surprise to us (I think in our heads, it's a test bed for the real universe coming later), and we're adapting our schedule and plans to make sure that is NOT the case.

Good stuff, can't wait to melt my neutron gun, its pretty much useless on slow ships cause you have to stay pretty close for it to be effective
Also got one of the new shields, turns out shields are completly bypassed by vanduul weapons... no wonder I die so quickly...

Gaming journalism everyone.

He probably got salty because they didn't give him a $15k review package.

The dumb fucker doesn't even know who's developing Star Citizen.
SC is being developed by Cloud Imperium Games. RSI is the in-fiction branding for the main website.
-2/10, go to journalism school, do not pass go, do not collect paycheck
Let me put my editor hat on and mark up that turd on the left.
You want the most ambitious space simulator of all time. [So, Star Citizen?]
You're sick of paying hundreds for spaceship models that don't have a universe to fly in. [Instead, fly around a universe with 400 billion star systems, each roughly about the same as the others, and just as empty and uninteresting after you've played for 15 hours.]
You're happy to support a game that might not be perfect now, but looks set to grow into something special. [So, Star Citizen?]
He doesn't know what feature creep is either. You can't creep features into something that's still being planned.
Here comes the backpedal, but if they follow through with a printed retraction and apology as he says, good on them.
Hi guys - I'm going to take responsibility for the Scam Citizen issue. The issue went to print during the handover from John Gillooly and myself as editors and I let it slip through. I will be printing a retraction in the next issue that goes to print (238, on sale March 19).
What Bennett obviously intended as a joke doesn't come across that way in print and I apologise again.
Cheers

Would've been nice if it hadn't happened in the first place, especially since the article praises E:D for... future promised features, while trashing SC for exactly the same thing.
It doesn't seem like he intended it as a joke at all. It wasn't funny and just comes across as him hating Star Citizen, which is what it is.
Gaming journalism is for people that can't find a job as a journalist elsewhere.
Journalism on Gaming, often isn't.
I don't neccisarially care about the bugs. I know we have an amazing team here that will iron them out with time. Like with the aroura recall. That was awesome the way they handled that. It's like we actually are in the universe already. Recall one ship but give one for standby until the "cooling systems" are repaired. Even when the game is released. If there is a bug, I know for a fact they will have every man and woman that they can get working on it. Anyone who watches the videos they release and how passionate they are about the game will see that.
Damn gaming journalism. Grinding my gears.

"it was a misunderstanding, it was meant to be a joke, we didn't intend to print it like this, we accidentally got an un-edited version printed, etc, etc"
Dodging responsibility is what this is. Good on them for nothing if they can't own it and straight up say "yeah, that was a shit move, sorry."

So, uh. Happy Valentine's Day, everyone.[sp]kiss me you fool[/sp]
Why do I have a feeling we might see a series of these featuring prominent staff? If that happens, this is gonna be fucking gold. :v:
Oh my..
Sandi's everyone's waifu.
now we need a VDay card with Ben.
For any Brit SC fans, heres your chance!

Damn, that's pretty cool. A tragic loss for the world of SC that I can't participate.
