Would you fellahs be so kind as to post a link if they ever put out a call for voice actors? I've been waiting.
Tempted to apply, but I work full time and unless they pay for travel (which I doubt) then the £50 isn't worth it when travelling from London. Which sucks as it would be have been an awesome thing to do. [editline]12th February 2015[/editline] Roughly £80-£90 for a train ticket lol no

And a few pieces from the recent Vault uploads for good measure. I have a Gamma->Delta upgrade that I've been holding onto, but I want to keep my Omega into the PU. But I don't want to upgrade my Beta because I want to see this cabin space get used. I guess CIG's probably getting more of my money before this is over. :v: Also, this is a perfect example of why I'm hoping planetary flight is a reality sooner than much later in the PU -- not necessarily at launch, but hopefully before the halfway point in the game's planned 10-year lifecycle post-launch. [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/9efbd43n11bnqr/source/JumpPoint_-QalacticGuide_Helios_01.jpg[/t] Helios, detailed in January's Jump Point, which means it should be on Comm-Link reasonably soon. Planet's almost completely water, with kilometer-high waves (like that one) with particularly daring young pilots 'surfing' them.

There's something wrong with you sir.
£80-£90 is too much to be immortalized in SC? There's something wrong with you sir.
That train ticket money isn't going into SC though. It's going to some shitty train company that would most likely delay/cancel the train a minute before it arrives.
That train ticket money isn't going into SC though. You have the chance to actually be in SC.

Having their face in a game as big as SC is something a lot of people would gladly pay for, not ask to get paid.
News from RtV: Tomorrow there'll be a design post for AC Credits. This doesn't count as a deep-dive design post, which is what the current stretch goals are covering. If all goes well, PTU AC1.0.3 will go live tomorrow, too. And weapons will be available for free in some way, in the PTU, so that people can try them without needing to spend UEC on them. Yes, this is in advance of AC1.1; when the patch hits the live version, VD will still charge. This should be covered in the AC Credits post. Next week's deep-dive design post will be about mining. And, the Orion is scheduled to go on concept sale next Friday, but this is dependent on an art signoff happening on-time next week. No official price set, but Ben said it'll be in the $325-350 range based on its size and utility. This means that the next concept sale after will likely be the Hull A-C concepts. They are on-schedule, but no ETA on the concept sale. FPS module initial level loadout confirmed to be the abandoned Gold Horizon station from the fps demo, and the battlesphere for zero-g-specific play. Initial social module will be Arccorp (we knew this). Argo, the huge 6km-wide Shubin mining station, is in SQ42. They're also hoping to get the back seat of the Super Hornet usable before 1.1. CIG won't be ready to talk about ship release timelines (e.g. when is X going to be finished pipeline stage Y) for a couple months. Some ships (Gladius and Retaliator, for example) are hangar-ready, but are hangar-ready for the SQ42 build that contains the new damage state system and other engine enhancements. AC1.1 is going to see the relevant stuff folded back into live. Putting the ships into the current build just breaks everything, so they're ready but on hold until AC1.1 is actually ready to go live. Also, there are more of those CIG staff Valentines coming! AtV has a few at the end of the episode. [t]https://i.imgur.com/j4KeOQP.png[/t]
News from RtV: Some ships (Gladius and Retaliator, for example) are hangar-ready,
YES
but on hold until AC1.1 is actually ready to go live.
FUCK
Herald concept confirmed to be symmetrical; may have a Herald variant with the asymmetric style. Also, from Sandi's FB, grapple beam attachment for zero-G movement [t]https://i.imgur.com/EuKiClH.jpg[/t] Also, AC1.1 could drop as early as a month from now. FPS and social might both drop in later March, and 1.1's gotta hit around the same time, so.. here comes the fun. And the bugs. So many bugs are gonna happen.
Cant wait for bugs. That is where the best moments come from. Especially with friends.
Design post for AC Credits is up. Meet Rental Equipment Credits (REC). Yes, rentals, however they have good reasons for that. [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/2z9njylc9i42jr/source/Holotable_prototype_ships.jpg[/t] Also, new ship table prototype, oh yesssssss. [editline]13th February 2015[/editline] Also, welcome to the battlesphere. Yes, this is an intentional homage to Ender's Game. [editline]13th February 2015[/editline] AC1.0.3 PTU is up. Remember: 1) Copy your account to the PTU here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/account/ptu 2) Check your email for your PTU password; this is separate from your live password. 3) Log into the launcher with your regular password, then click on the gear, enable advanced options if you hadn't, and change the channel to Public Test Universe. 4) Closing the settings window logs you out of the launcher. Log in with your PTU password from your email. 5) If this is your first time running the PTU/you deleted the files before, you get to download all 20GB of the game over again, because this is a separate copy from the main game. If you have a previous PTU build, it'll probably manage a delta patch if it's recent enough. (My PTU 1.0.1 happily went to 1.0.3 with about 4GB to download.) There's a free weapon on the PTU version of Voyager Direct. The PTU clone of the RSI site is here: https://ptu.cloudimperiumgames.com/account Remember to log in with your PTU password, then go to VD in the PTU site and it'll be right up there, grab a bunch. Don't grab insane amounts.
REC is earned by playing competitive (ranked) multiplayer matches of Arena Commander ...
Well damn, I guess I shan't be using that system. There's no love for solo players in any games. ;-;
Well damn, I guess I shan't be using that system. There's no love for solo players in any games. ;-;
Supposedly once you unlock them, you can use them in solo and private modes. This system is not what i was expecting. They do lay out decent reasons for making it temporary rentals, though.... this is not going to help with their image though. Most f2p mmos do "rentals" for a reason, and it's not for the good of the players... i feel like the most annoying part of this will be actually renewing the things. Especially in that gross holotable interface.
remember, this isn't a free to play desperately trying to empty your pockets, I'm sure the amount of grind required to keep stuff renewed wont be a big deal I definitely see the point of rentals since they don't want to lose the 'magic' of actually earning the ships in the PU
And if they want to test something specific they can make an item cost 1 REC for a week rental, and then the game's only imbalanced for two weeks max. It doesn't affect the PU at all, too.
So, the PTU download for AC1.0.3 is fucked for the weekend. However, here's a torrent by the community of the PTU files, launcher validates them happily. Copy and paste this into your address bar. Note: FP might insert spaces, remove them. However, the escaped ampersands (&) are supposed to be there.
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:ACA298864BE1280C589081D0FC7382F989391F1F&dn=Public_Test.rar&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3a80%2fannounce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.publicbt.com%3a80%2fannounce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ft
Also, the patch notes say the Aurora wing mounts should be fixed (no heat/energy piping, so no recharge/cooldown), but they're still broken on my LX. Annoying since Omnisky VIs don't take long to heat up and run out of charge. While I was testing out the PTU, The Priest got the last laugh on me: [t]http://i.imgur.com/edgrABh.jpg[/t] To say this affected handling would be an understatement: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Oxs8bJY.jpg[/t]
remember, this isn't a free to play desperately trying to empty your pockets, I'm sure the amount of grind required to keep stuff renewed wont be a big deal
It's not the grind I worry about, I'm all for unlocking or whatever, it's just whenever a game allows me to choose if I play against players or not, I always choose not to. I'm just not a "competitive" kind of player. Of course none of this crap will matter once the actual PU is open, because I can just go mine or something, but for the time being it's a rather useless setup for the kind of player that I am. It's kinda like EVE, aside from the small bounties that you claim whenever the random pirates harass you, all my ships, equipment, and bank have come from mining and planetary interaction. I've never gotten into a firefight with another player.
Especially in that gross holotable interface.
Are you talking about the current or the supposed new layout? Cause the new one that was conceptually shown in the rental update post was pretty nice. It has flow to it, and actually looks like a proper menu. [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/65wpnk4jqfgzjr/source/REC_mobiGlas.png[/t] Granted that's for the mobiglass, not the holotable, but I feel that the actual menus would be similar, there wouldn't be much point to build and design two separate windows that do the same thing.
Just picked up the game! So excited
Just picked up the game! So excited
obligatory one of us
First Kill was fun
It seems so much goes on in the background we dont notice. Shooting a buddy in space results in blood splatters freezing!
I actually noticed that back then when I made that hijacking video, but I thought it was a broken blood texture or some stuff from the ship. [vid]http://3kv.in/~techbot/ShareX/2014/12/26/hijack.webm[/vid] at ~ 0:11
anyone have any advice for new comers. I've played a ton of X-wing Vs Tie Fighter when I was a kid and I am a very capable pilot in Battlefield so the mechanics have come to me naturally but I am indeed a noob.
I haven't really played much, but you're going to have to relearn a lot of stuff since being able to quickly spin on your axis changes things a lot.
I fucking love that. This game has been quite the blast learning.
First, if you haven't, read the AC 1.0 manual. It'll help you learn what the different targeting/flying methods are. Second, when decoupling to spin, remember that you will be drifting in the direction of travel, but you'll still have 6DoF translation jets while decoupled. It is possible to hit practically a standstill, and then you're a stationary laser/gun turret and that much easier to hit. Don't stay in decoupled too long. Resist the urge to turn and burn, too, since you're in space with a Newtonian flight model. Some ships do better than others at this, but if you get drawn into it by a more maneuverable ship, or they've got a buddy, you can get trashed easily. Practice in free flight and Vanduul Swarm, and learn to develop a feel for riding your G-force limits. You can black out and altogether pass out, and at the wrong moment that will kill you. Also, signatures (sensor detection methods) are working, so it's another layer to keep in mind. Flares are point sources of hot signature, and chaff is signature obstruction (but it also affects you). Eventually, but not yet, you'll have environmental effects giving off signatures. For example, being chased right towards the exposed molten core in Dying Star will blot out your heat signature because it'll be masked by the giant heat source.
