How does one treat a scythe blade like a missile? Does it give you a pipper for interception at your speed?
it would be hilarious if it took over your ship and autopiloted it on boost into the enemy like a missile. Im pretty sure he just meant controls wise though.
I don't know, but I've got an Imperator sub for a month, and that means about 3 more weeks of unlimited Scythe rental, so if anyone wants to organize a session we can find out.

I'll join in on a session, do we have a steam group we could use to post announcements when we are doing stuff?
Jono says we don't. I don't think there's been enough simultaneous interest in AC yet (less a little bit of activity in the spring before the Arena Commander releases sputtered to a halt for a while) to go to that level of organization, but I could be wrong. However, soon as fps drops and is playable for more than, like, the first 2,000 backers (since they're rolling out PTU access by citizen number in waves in order to avoid capacity meltdown), I've a feeling we're going to have substantially greater attendance to events.
So far it's been organized in the thread and messaging through friends lists. It's been hit-or-miss (although a number of sessions were basically aborted because multiplayer took a dump; that's not our fault), but it's generally worked out well when several people firmly commit to be in the TS at the same time and AC is in a good mood.
Something we definitely want to get moving on soon, but I don't want to jump the gun on Jono and create the group myself or anything.
let's please play tomorrow around 11PM GMT (it's when i get home and can play!!)
4pm PST, 7pm EST, seems legit
To avoid spamming the thread with posts just to say "me too", rate this post autistic if you're going to show up! Free fly fuckery assured, other gamemodes to be decided as we go. Hope the servers don't cack out on us.
Maybe this should be a Friday event. Freefly Fuckery Fridays. The 4F squad.

If multiplayer is stable enough and scheduling works out for us to actually get this off the ground, I beg you, new thread title:
Star Citizen Megathread V3 - time to get F4ked
Even if it's not on a Friday, I can work another F in there with fpcorp as needed. "Register below for Wednesday 4F! FPCorp Freefly Fuckery Wednesdays, if you sign up show up or get f4ked!"

I see they're back to picking awful questions again now that Chris is back. The producers and developers always get great questions. I wonder if it's the kind of people who submit questions, or if it's the person picking the questions that causes that to happen.
I await BeerForTheBeerGod's summary on this one, considering the first question was a softball so CR could reminisce and brag just a bit about the old days for five minutes, the second was a repeat, and at least two others are answers that are established, documented fact (I haven't even gotten that far in the episode yet and from the summary alone I'm assuming a minimum of 3 bullshit repeats/knowns plus the starting freebie out of 10).
Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're bad. Barring damning evidence that CR issued specific instructions to that effect, at least we know it's not directly CR's fault, since he's not the one that picks the questions.
At about 12:00, CR talks about how they have the universe simulation and an API between it and the PU instances (so the PU can tell that, say, the instance you're flying into contains a bounty hunter and two pirates about to encounter each other near the jump point you're Q-Driving towards) online internally. Now, considering their intended goal is the end of the year, I certainly hope so, but it's good to hear about it. I don't specifically recall reading about the universe simulation in recent monthly reports, but even I can't be held responsible with remembering everything in those freaking novelposts.
Q1. Holy shit you still program? How much of CryEngine is coded in FORTRAN?
A1. I've been making CryEngine my bitch longer than you've been alive you little shit.
Q2. When they're not shitting themselves out of fear of possibly facing another human being in a competitive environment, every dickless pants-wetting pussy carebear ultra sperg on the forums LOVES to jerk themselves off to that remark you made about the PU population being 90% NPC. What the fuck does that even mean?
A2. Most of the NPC shit happens in the background on the Galaxy Server simulated to a very abstract level of fidelity. Encounters will mostly be resolved by random chance unless players actually see it. The whole point of this system is to keep the game universe running no matter how many of you worthless fucks logs on. That's right asshole. WE DON'T NEED YOU.
Q3. My immersion will be ruined unless I have the voice of an anthropomorphic cheetah huffing helium. (MAXIMUM cringe warning -elix)
There will be multiple voice packs. Think Saints Row 2. FUCK YOU SAY?
Q4. What's it like to be surrounded by adoring fanboys who will murder anyone for criticizing you?
A4. Let's be honest here. The only person the average backer is capable of killing is themselves. Through neglect and heart disease. Long term we'll make the assets more available so you all can make shitty videos about space cats or whatever the fuck the kids like these days.
Q5. Acceleration-induced blackout has been a SUPER AWESOME thing to deal with. Will you fuck over the multi-crew experience by inducing global acceleration to the local grid?
A5. We promise to make things as immersive as possible. Deal with it.
Q6. How the fuck will you make multi-crew actually fun?
A6. You like Artemis? Good, we're bringing that to Star Citizen. Friendship is OP. Seriously, if you have friends your ship will be more effective. That's the whole fucking point of multi-crew. Hate other people? Then fly by yourself you lonely fuck.
Q7. Can I set Squadron 42 to easy mode to game the system and finish as God-Emperor of the UEE?
A7. Yeah there will be different levels. That said, fuck you pussies and your modern day bullshit gameplay with trivial difficulties and the ability to quicksave every fucking millisecond.
Q8. Please tell me about salvage. Go deep Chris. Go real deep.
A8. We can spin up whatever the fuck we want, so there will be random debris fields or whatever. You can also play space vulture and loot the still cooling bodies of assholes less fortunate than you. Want a deep dive? Ask fucking Tony.
Q9. I just spent hundreds of dollars on fucking space pixels. If I leave it in my ship will it degrade on its own? What about the other shit?
A9. Most of the wear and tear will be due to actually using your toy. Not that it matters because leaving your ship in the hangar will just mean it ends up being obsolete, assuming this game lasts for years or whatever. So will your other shit.
Q10. GODAMMIT CHRIS GIVE ME STAR CITIZEN IN LINUX.
A10. According to Net Applications in July 2015 only 1.67% of the desktop/laptop operation systems used Linux. You know what that means? It means I don't give a shit.
Foundry 42 UK gets into the act of tweeting photos of devs playing the Gamescom demo. That's definitely a Tali turret near a fucking gas giant.
We need a new :hypeisreal: where the train has four spaceship thrusters, rocketing the train along the track with speed lines zipping by, and the "HYPE" cars are flipped over and dragging on the track, kicking up sparks.

does anyone else feel like it's a massive oversight that the turrets don't have radar globes?
all the older ship models had gotten/have to get redone to have space for the navball and I feel like the exact same thing will happen with turrets months down the line when they realise it's just as important if not more so for the gunner

If you're going to have a helmet, yes, if not a second hud in the corner. (but it's a milt ship so it should have what you said)
Saitek is the company making the Star Citizen HOTAS.
http://www.saitek.com/uk/blog/index.php/star-citizen-hardware-announced-at-gamescom
That's really disappointing. I was really hoping Logitech would be the one, considering how often they partner with Star Citizen in their booths. Logitech hasn't made a HOTAS in forever, so it would have been awesome to see what they would make today, but it wasn't meant to be.

Oops, way to spoil CR's (really, Sandi's) surprise a mere three days ahead of time, Saitek. :goodjob:

It's not too surprising, though. Saitek sticks are great value for money despite their QC issues.
I'd expect that it's easier to set up a partnership with Saitek than the giant Logitech, and the only other big name is Thrustmaster, who seem to specialize in either cheapo sticks and >$200 sticks.
After having used Saitek sticks for over 10 years, and seeing how much worse they've gotten over the years, the X-55 is the last Saitek product I'll be buying. I'm tired of dealing with all the headaches they give me. The problem with Saitek is that they are completely unopposed in their price range. It's the only reason they're able to get away with the stupid shit that they do.
If Logitech were to introduce a 150-200 dollar HOTAS, that would put the pressure on Saitek to make something that actually works right.
The X-55 is a boondoggle of "just barely good enough". Yes you get a lot of functionality for the price, but it's all wrapped up in a poorly designed package with software that seems out to sabotage your computer and prevent you from ever using it.
Ignoring the copious software and QC issues, which I don't think should be ingored, but ignoring those, I still tend to think that the X-52 I think is one of the best sticks out there for space sims. It's also a hell of a lot more comfortable and easy to use than the X-55, which is the only comparable thing in a similar price range.
Saitek being Saitek's only competitor made me realize how niche the joystick market is.

This is a friendly reminder that I'm expecting Oicani Gonzales, Korro Bravin, and capgun to be in teamspeak at 11pm GMT/4pm PST/7pm EST, four hours from now. I also expect Jono to be there, and Xavith is a maybe. All of you posting now are invited if you're available, but please let me know (rate this post tool if nothing else) so we can have an idea of when we have too many to fit into any gamemode other than 16-man PVP if unexpected interest happens. Alternatively, post when's a better time of day/day for you so we can consider that for future events, because I want to get everyone involved, not just people close to the Atlantic.
The TS3 server is prfn.se, Space Punchers has a room. We'll be able to bring at least two Scythes to play with in free flight. Reminder that Merlins are cheap as balls to rent on the REC store if all you have is an Aurora.
Recording your POV's encouraged, I'll probably be recording at least some of it for highlights reels [del]never[/del]later. Let's have some fun, people! :toot:
Also literally while I was typing this post my fucking Star Citizen travel mug got delivered. Pretty slick for $9.

no REC RIP me.
Well, we could have a few [del]rigged[/del] PVP matches to help beef up peoples' REC, sooner or later, and you'll get to try things out in free flight at least.
No promises on recording but I'll have shadowplay running

I keep forgetting I have that and need to utilize it more. Recording huge chunks of gameplay and sifting through for that 30 second golden clip is annoying

Holy shit, so if the tali becomes flyable before 2.0, will we be able to fly it in game? Maybe not combat, just test flights?

Speaking of joysticks, what do you guys think of the mad catz F.L.Y. 5? If its crap, what should I get instead?
