Well, leaderboards only have about 850 people listed to have beaten VS wave 18. And the 1000 might be limited to purchases only, not rentals.
No kidding? wow we dun gon did good! I'm actually surprised more people didn't do it sooner than us! Makes me feel pretty good about it.
Wouldn't they end up costing as much as a starship at that point? Shit would get expensive real fast.
we don't know how much a quantum drive is, also military budget even alien military budget could have quite a few reserved for special incursions. But it can now be possible in engine.

watch as the SC hot-ass is just a rebranded x52 and doesn't have anything that would actually help with SC such as analogue sticks for 6DoF strafe and gimbal aiming
SO RELEVANT
I actually kinda like the 'budget' version. I'd prefer analogue sticks to track balls, but you could make them work. and having the throttle in a very small form factor to the side of the keyboard makes it way more useful IMO. I reckon I could jury rig it to stick to the side of my mechanical kb without too much trouble and hopefully at ~$150 with similar features to the $75 fly-5 stick, it should be twice as good build quality, right? ...right???
Well, leaderboards only have about 850 people listed to have beaten VS wave 18. And the 1000 might be limited to purchases only, not rentals.
I think so, yeah it says 1000 actual ships are available but from what I'm getting anyone who beats VS can rent it no matter if they're the first or 10,000th W18er [sp]anyone wanna play some vs?[/sp]
Tried the Glaive in VS SP. Got up to wave 11 before I quit. But the glaive is real great at twisting and turning. Also, just noticed the enemy can shoot out of their asses.
but wouldn't it be 1000 available, for anyone who completes it so it's not the first 1000 to unlock it, but the first 1000 to buy it?
Re-reading the text of the post, it seems like it's the first 1000 to buy it. And, well, seeing as I wasn't planning on buying a Glaive this week, I'm not heartbroken to not take advantage of spending $350 more on digital spaceships. I suppose it'd be worth a lot on the grey market, but I'd have to melt shit and there goes any chance of selling it. :v:
all you really need is this
my god that fucking AMAZING. The twitchy animations only managed to get me more excited because it shows that this is actually a real game, and not just an awesome tech demo that I paid money for and have been casually hyping over for the last year.
AUDIO POPPING IS STILL PRESENT because this is the raw unedited presentation as fast as they could get it onto YouTube. Entire Gamescom presentation, CR gets on stage at 15:25 if you don't want to watch Sandi's German Language Class and Ben and Sandi awkwardly judge a costume contest and decide that they're all winners and all get Glaives and 890 Jumps. Hey, I may very well buy this in the coming week, but I just have one question: how does "death" work in this game? Like for example, if I die with my starter ship in the multiplayer module, do I have to pay real world money to get the ship again, or how does this stuff all work? Like in E:D, if you die you are guaranteed the starting ship, or spend in game money to rebuy your last loadout.

You use in-game money to buy ship insurance and get a new one. The costs will be fair. However a hidden counter is going on and after a certain number of 'deaths' you are perma-dead and get a new character who inherits your previous assets + name(?). No sure how the inheritance will work with insurance though [editline]8th August 2015[/editline] I've been following development with great interesting but not really closely. Did anyone know about this?
Hey, I may very well buy this in the coming week, but I just have one question: how does "death" work in this game? Like for example, if I die with my starter ship in the multiplayer module, do I have to pay real world money to get the ship again, or how does this stuff all work? Like in E:D, if you die you are guaranteed the starting ship, or spend in game money to rebuy your last loadout.
Okay, so, a few things. First of all, right now, death is zero-consequence when you're playing in the dogfighting test module. This test module will actually carry over into the game in the form of an in-universe simulator/video game. It'll allow you to practice and have fun without any consequences if your ship blows up and you die. So, for now, go fucking nuts, powerslide into asteroids for kicks, none of it matters. This all changes when the game goes live. First, Star Citizen has permadeath. However, it's relaxed permadeath, in that you will not kick over the first time you're shot in the face and go down. Instead, you'll have an invisible life counter, representing times when 30th century medical science is able to bring you back from the edge. However, eventually, your 'lives' will run out, and your body is too wasted to recover, and your character will die. And then all your character's money, shit, and factions standings transfer over to a new character, less an inheritance fee and an across-the-board standing loss. The account remains in your control, you just roll a new name and face and take a cut from your assets and reputation, which disincentivizes reckless suicidal tactics like just ramming a larger ship until it explodes. As for what happens to your ship, this depends on if it's insured or not. Hull insurance will be cheaper than dirt in the game, with one month's worth (or so) costing less than the rewards of one mission appropriate to the type of ship you're insuring. Unless the ship is stolen (and therefore uninsurable unless you do the equivalent of scraping the numbers off at great expense to launder it), it's basically your fault if you fly it out of your hangar without insurance. If your ship is insured and it's stolen or blows up, you can put in a claim for a free replacement. The replacment ship includes stock parts only (aftermarket module insurance will be much more expensive), and the ship actually has to come out of the global economy--it doesn't just get magically added to your hangar. For starter ships, the turnaround time should be nearly zero and availability nearly universal, but this changes when talking about the larger ships. If your ship isn't insured and it blows up, RIP. If that was your only ship and you can't afford another, you'll be able to do jobs for NPCs (or other players) in loaner ships and you'll be able to sign on as crew to multicrew ships (presumably other players, but potentially AI-piloted ships with human turret gunners or something) until you've got enough scrap together to get back into your own wings. Moral of the story: Don't leave the hangar without insurance. Once the game is out of beta and officially 1.0 "launched", the pledge store will shut down and you won't be able to pay real cash for ships. Okay thanks; that is the level of detail I was looking for. [editline]8th August 2015[/editline] Oh also, has the system been fixed yet to allow for smaller patches? I have unlimited data, but Canadian download speeds are abysmal.
Freelancer When Please sooooon.
Holy shit, they weren't kidding about that bootstrapper on Reddit. XD
Oh also, has the system been fixed yet to allow for smaller patches? I have unlimited data, but Canadian download speeds are abysmal.
No, still no sign of the "delta patch" module, but the launcher is able to use P2P connections again. CIG had to disable the P2P torrent functionality after a patent troll went after Blizzard for the exact same setup, but now they've got a presumably-uninfringing implementation since the new launcher's written in-house from the ground up. Also, I'd read the last 10 or so pages of the thread to get a much better idea of what you're getting into, if you haven't researched what the actual experience on the ground is like. I'm hesitant to straight encourage people to buy in unless they're sure that this is what they want. [t]https://i.imgur.com/v4H5hx3.jpg[/t] Michael Jackson's Spacewalker
If anyone wants to try out the Glaive, contact me tomorrow on Steam or in the TS. I'll be on for awhile and will bring it out on Free Flight for anyone to try out.
here is the stuff you got after you left the building. [t]http://3kv.in/~techbot/ShareX/2015/08/08/IMG_20150808_100947.jpg[/t] book version of the comic that one guy made, a ship to assemble and a constellation pin. and this poster [t]http://3kv.in/~techbot/ShareX/2015/08/08/IMG_20150808_101103.jpg[/t] sadly it tore on the bottom because there was a rubberband around it
That little plane contains the Gamescom freefly code, which according to Reddit unlocks all flyable ships for the week. The code is GAMESCOM2015 and it's redeemed here. It'll compliain and then work anyway.
Your account is now enabled to play Star Citizen's Arena Commander module with all flyable ships. This will remain active until 2015-08-17.
I'll find out if this includes the Glaive.
Facepunch TS?
We usually use prfn.se, since we have a Space Punchers room in there. Who's up for a F4 today at either of the two times (1pm PST or 4pm PST) we had events at this week? Rate tool for 1pm PST (the event that was interrupted with downtime), zing for 4pm (the previous events that're kind of late for Europeans), or friendly if you're able to show up at either time. If we have more than 3 people for either time, I'll consider that good enough. Before you ask, I'm too tired to dig up the other time zones, I've been up for 18 hours and I'm crashing in a few.
At least one glaive is going to be present.
Scythe vs Glaive Which will withstand being rammed by Korro Bravin's Aurora LN? SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY I only now notice that fires on Connie parts spit flame particles out, as if some flammable liquid under high pressure is being sprayed out from the wrecked parts.
I love how the Hornet just bumps into it.
The glass/whatever shatters and flies into space too The way the Constellation gibs has me wondering if they didn't have it set up for the new layered destruction tech
The new ship pipeline requires ships have the new procedural damage tech, and before the Connie explodes you can see that its back end is really fucked up with the same sort of procedural damage when the missile goes off at the start of the loop. They talked about amplifying the procdmg tech with gibs and particles and optimized something so they were able to crank up the debris particles, and I expected that tech to be ready for this demo. I was not expecting THIS. The helpless gunner is sort of cute, too. "DIE DIE DIE! DIE DIE DIE! DIE DIE... die? What's happening, gu--BOOM"
I'll find out if this includes the Glaive.
(it doesn't)
So I've changed from the Aurora to the Mustang Alpha, but I still can't use the Mustang. Why? Is that specific Mustang not available yet?
you need to "apply" the upgrade first, it doesn't automatically do that after you buy it.
