It probably isn't. Or, at least, not like that, because, if the story mode is like the last one, you can't do fatalities at the end of matches.
I remember there being an interview where someone asked Ed Boon about having Sonya or Johnny doing a fatality on Cassie Cage and he said something on the lines that he didn't think about it, but fuck it, they're doing it anyway. So apparently there most likely will be parent on child violence.

I want to see a grizzled, scarred Liu, who has turned his back on Raiden.
If he did die for real, then he won't be a zombie. If Kung Lao, Jax, and others get restored to life perfectly fine it wouldn't really make sense to do zombie Liu, again.
