Rate me optimistic, but I think it's possible that the rows we see now are just the starting characters and more boxes will be open when you unlock new characters. With the amount of attention they put in Baraka's and Fujin's model, it may be the case.

I was wondering the same thing, knowing the series' convoluted timeline they [sp]could have retconned his use of green powers in MK9 seeing as he didn't believe in the supernatural to begin with and his powers were never explained.[/sp]

We still don't know who we unlock by beating the story, my bets are on Fujin.

MK9 had 27 non-dlc characters, this looks to have 25, but each also has three versions. That's a lot of work right there, so I really don't think there's gonna be a bunch of top secret characters added on in addition to that pre-DLC. MK9 did throw that curve ball with the cyber subzero reveal+unlock, so there could be one top secret character, though it seems odd given it wasn't in the leak. Maybe they learned after that Cyber SubZero leak that happened so far in advance of the game's launch and kept a tighter lid on it.
Considering their seemingly long-term interest in online play, I don't put it past them to keep adding in characters as DLCs. People will pay for it.

that's what I would've thought but they only did 5 and 6 for MK9 and injustice before they started focusing on their next game. I do hope we get at least one more pack of characters because a lot of unique veterans need to be brought back (cryax, rain, etc), but again doing an MKX character takes a lot more time than it would for the other games due to the variation shit. 4 might end up being it.
Which is kind of a bummer because I would rather have had a Klassic character over the likes of Jason tbh. I hope they do add more though.

I didn't follow Injustice's DLC as it came out but if I recall correctly MK9's was announced across months, including post-release. We've got all the details pre-release this time, so it's still possible they'll work on a second season before interest has waned.
By the way, I love how the x-ray attacks are so ridiculously violent to the point where they could just be fatalities.
