Bad. Shiva's, Heart, BKB and Pipe are the choices really. It seems gimmicky but I would like to test Octarine cooldowns on him (downtime in brackets):
Q: 20 -> 15 (4.5—Assault lasts 10.5 seconds)
W: 15 -> 11.25 (3.25—Cogs stay up for 8 seconds)
E: 14 -> 10.5 (0.5 on 10 second Flare vision not including flight time)
R: 12 -> 9
Is it not obvious we are talking about extension items? The Aghs/BM/Forcestaff are a given and the items I mentioned are just luxury items.
Clockwerk is not a support and he doesn't play like one, so drawing parallels with Maiden is silly.
I regularly have the gold for big items on him after his core set.

God my team's Venomancer refused to ward with a pudge around because the AM wouldn't level Spell Shield, then bitched at me for not buying the wards myself which i didn't do because i was trying to rush a MKB for the PA who was rapidly gaining farm because we had no wards for the massive amounts of ganks coming our way. AM has become quite fun to play with,that blink helps a lot and is probably my favourite AM ability to use.
