the entire concept of "supporting" is mind boggling like no buy fuckin wards if you want them
why cant the pa carry dust when shes the one blinking on the rikis face all the time
the entire concept of "supporting" is mind boggling like no buy fuckin wards if you want them
why cant the pa carry dust when shes the one blinking on the rikis face all the time
I will buy wards if the "support" is being an asshole, but I hate this mindset
"IF YOU WANT WARDS SO BAD BUY THEM OMG!!"
If you call support, I'm expecting you to do that, support
Why must the rest delay their items, to get vision and detection simply because the support is refusing to do their job?
You expecting the carry to carry you? lol carry yourself if you wanna win
You expecting the roamer to roam? you do the roaming.
And so on.
It's ok to give the support a hand by buying the occasional detection or ward,
but is not ok when they rather sit in lane doing nothing while taking exp away from the carry, or go farm an item that's not vital while the map has been dark for several minutes
People always say that everyone should buy wards. Imo, the same should apply to placing them as well.
Wards cost almost nothing which is why there is literally no reason to not buy them. But placing them is a different tale.
Since pub games often have a solo support instead of two, it really limits what the support can do. Mainly where they can go and when. Nothing makes me more sick of this game than an offlaner crying for wards during the laning stage when there is some in base. A solo support should not spend 1-2 minutes of the their limelight roaming across the map to plant a ward.
offlaners are generally really the only ones who could be the other ones placing wards, though sometimes they need time to gather their items (tides doing ancients, etc)
mids sometimes, depending on the heroes but their field of movement is pretty low if they are farming mids like SF or ember
carrys have the least room to just go wander off and place wards, even with mobile heroes like anti mage you want to fall into a farming pattern and you cant be the one going into the dangerous areas to aggro ward
junglers of course also have almost no field of movement because they're retard ricing a small area but you know after the LC jungle gets Blink and has 3 open slots they could place wards with their roaming, i agree
you have to consider the opportunity costs of each of the roles going to roam and place wards (for a carry or mid, missing 2-3 waves to place a ward can be seen as a waste especially if the laning phase hasnt already fallen apart), of course if its spots in your own woods that are really safe to place and near your woods generally anyone can place them, which is why i dont see why you would complain. but for aggro wards you don't want your highest networth hero to possibly be caught as 1 or 2 and die just for a ward
[editline]22nd February 2016[/editline]
Basically supports place wards because they don't have to worry about missing waves
no man i really enjoy it when theres like 4 wards in base and i see 5 heroes in base going somewhere without picking them up with free slots, especially if they spam > We need wards.
I feel that if you drop sentries+observers in base, everyone will ignore them due to not having the unique model.
I can ping them and tell my team to plant them, but most of the time I get ignored :suicide:
Bonus:
Treeants are like fucking gifts from god
The only time I condone rushing an aghs on a support
Ranked is both stressing and embarassing.
I died a total of two times this game, meanwhile my team kept going alone and getting ganked by invis/sb heroes.
Spectre delaying his heart for forever, an invoker who's plain useless, two supports who fall for the same shit over and over and over, then one of my fucking teammates has to disconnect
This is simply embarassing, feels like I'm playing with people who just downloaded the game, seriously their awareness is trash and so are their builds, supports can't think past "I plant ward" and all cores are good for is farming at mediocre speeds and making the worst choices when it comes to items.
Fuck I'm mad.
I don't know about you guys but this is the fifth time in the last 7 days I have seen this message

It seems that every report I submit causes someone to get punished, I don't spam them.
I've logged on to see TWO of them just today
And to be clear I use my reports wisely. I don't report just anyone, they have to be a massive dick in one way or another. I've just seen a lot of massive dicks lately.
They should add a section to the conduct summary that is "report success percentage" where it shows in the span of 25 games how many people you have reported and how many reports have been used to take action.
After all, the entire point of the summary is to show the player how their conduct is effecting others, and since it's private anyways, it's a good way to see if you're using your reports too much.
Looks like the Valve VR demo had some high-res Dota 2 heroes in the files and one of them is Mirana:

Amazing. :v: Looks similar to the one from the Spring Clean update actually.

Got the message right after a match where I reported someone, doubt low priority can take action that fast, but was funny
I've had to report a lot more people recently and holy fuck I've gotten so many of those messages in the past week alone
I've counted 5 just this week

It's their internal SFM model. This is the same one from Spring Cleaning and the Reborn Beta page
op.Maxis: fun fact
op.Maxis: invoker winrate
op.Maxis: dropped by 2%
op.Maxis: with 6.86f

The few invokers I seen since the nerf did pretty badly, wonder how long will it take them to learn a new combo :v:

MY MERGE
I'm on a ranked game with no supports, It hurts to live :v:
I'm super late to the Warlock discussion but I have really mixed feelings about the hero
He's super fun and all of his spells are cool and impactful but for some reason I just can't win with him
I tried using him 3 times to get the debuffs challenge for the new bloom quest and each time I completed it easily early on in the match but it never counted because I lost all 3
It just felt like without aghanim's/refresher I stopped having an impact past the early game and I think in two of the matches I was a solo support so I never got past a point booster and mana boots
[editline]22nd February 2016[/editline]
actually, looking back, I did finish an aghanim's in both of them (it was 2 not 3) and i still managed to lose

Glad the last few games I played made me realise that making a comeback with one rax down is still possible, makes me dislike the patch a little less.
Since it's my birthday today, I thought I'd do something different. Instead of begging for items like the average free to player, I thought I'd do a little something for you guys: a chance to win a set/item of your choice (within reasonable price range of course, I'm not made out of money aye?).
How to win? I came up with this challenge, similar to what I did a while back.
- Come up with an unusual build for a hero. I will be playing and making this build which you created.
- The person who's turn it is for their build to be done will be playing WITH me during the match. I sure as hell ain't suffering alone.
Conditions for getting your prize:
- I must build at least 2 MAJOR items from your item build before the game ends.
- We have to win the game. Should be easy, right?
- If none of these conditions are met, runner ups will be given a small gift and a virtual handshake.
Good luck to everyone who actually wishes to endure hardship for virtual items. It's ok, I will most likely record our miserable times together!
ATTN: Could those who want to participate add me on Steam please. My profile URL is on the left, cheers.
Yeah that's easy if spec picks early into the draft (luck) and your team can work as a unit (luck)
spec games are either
1. Oh I just need to somewhat hold my shit together until spec gets a couple of items then I can just jam my thumb up my ass
2. well shit if we don't have shit together within 20 mins we lost
She's not like Medusa where you can just get behind her, or void where you bait out a chronosphere and capitalize on it. I'm not saying spec is overpowered, she's just not something low level pub can reliably deal with and as a result degrades ~58-61% winrate and ~19-36% pickrate attest to that.
the moment you balance the game around pubs is when you get league of legend

You just need to blame someone right? Anyone at all!
2% from ~50% is nothing. thats saying that the nerf matters 4% of the time
I remember the time when Pudge's Rot got a bug, and it made Pudge take only 50% of Rot's damage.
The Winrate went up by a 10% (from like 45 to 55) and remained there iirc., and when it got fixed, it fell back down to what it was prior.
[editline]23rd February 2016[/editline]
It lasted a few days at least, so a pretty funny chunk of data it was on the dotabuff charts.
