All settlers get secretly replaced by synths except for Preston
There should be an option to kill the real Preston Garvey and have him replaced with that random impersonator to lead corrupt Minutemen.
Am I missing somethin g or do you ever get an opportunity to ask the institute why they are abducting people and replacing them with synths?
:mystery: The replacing part is probably because they want spies and sleeper agents, but I feel like bethesda just forgot to add the exposition about what actually happens to the people. Were they executed? Imprisoned? Experiment subjects? Definitely missing closure on that note, not even any info on the terminals I don't think. I'm pretty sure the surface would welcome The Institute were it not for their seemingly pointless adbuction/Synth-replacement milarky. Other than the poor sods of The Railroad. I have to ask, [sp]why do the Brotherhood and the Railroad come to blows rather than just tolerate each other? It's not the Railroad that's making the Synths, and letting the free Snyths live out their lives is the more humane option. It's the technology the Brotherhood has an investment in, not the Synths themselves.[/sp]

Nor will I, in all likelihood. Seems the BoS is oversimplifying what their goal is. It's not the Synths' fault, nor The Railroad's.

Even if they only needed Shaun's DNA, having people with pre-war knowledge would likely result in some valuable insight and feedback, depending on what some people's jobs were. Like, if one of the dwellers worked at a zoo, they could help with the synth animals project. Plus, that way they would've actually been doing some of that "helping humanity" they seem to care so much about.[/sp]
That would've made much, much more sense.

Nor will I, in all likelihood. Seems the BoS is oversimplifying what their goal is. It's not the Synths' fault, nor The Railroad's.
The brotherhood's issue is not really that the railroad is bad, but that letting synths out and integrating them stealthily into society is no better than what the institute does with replacing people with synths, ethics asside the whole "machines are machines, humans are humans" thing was something you could change but that dialogue was apparently cut from the final game. I'm sort of annyoed about that because maxim and his troops are too fanatical sometimes, like they go on about how the previous elder was weak for trying to help people, or how they would follow the elder unquestioning, but what we have seen time and time again is that when a force does that they will inevitably lead to ruin, its through questioning at the top levels and broader policy discussions that they arrive at the best solutions instead of 1 guy saying what they're going to do.
Got a question, just going to spoiler tag it in case... [sp]So on my second playthrough I've decided to go with BoS, after killing everyone in the railroad I decided to save & repurpose P.A.M. When I met her on the airship she gave me a Railroad quests to kill a courser in Reeb Marina. Is that normal for the BoS questline or a bug?[/sp]
I don't understand why would BoS [sp]blow up the [/sp]Institute[sp] instead of assimilating them[/sp] since they care so much about preserving technology
I don't understand why would BoS [sp]blow up the [/sp]Institute[sp] instead of assimilating them[/sp] since they care so much about preserving technology
no but its not pre-war technology so it's worse than [del]jews[/del] nukes
At the very least you'd think the interiors of the settlements would be clean and relatively free of debris, either because leaving scrap around seems wasteful or because no one wants to live in a shitty dirty house.
and there's no more tetanus shots either, all that rusty jagged sheet metal must have killed thousands by 2287
I don't understand why would BoS [sp]blow up the [/sp]Institute[sp] instead of assimilating them[/sp] since they care so much about preserving technology
Yeah, [sp]they want to destroy dangerous tech and do research for the good of the people but they didn't even check if the Institute had anything like the cure to wasteland cancer in there. Also why didn't any of the factions simply destroy the facility itself instead of creating a radioactive crater in Downtown Boston? The Brotherhood even have a newly recovered arsenal of mini-nukes that could be used, but nope gotta destroy the Commonwealth for the good of the Commonwealth.[/sp]
Or they could have just left them on ice, not doing anything but instead they had to kill them all
[sp]Even KELLOGG questions this part when you're going through his memories[/sp]
The Institute as a whole are just dumb assholes, they just make android [sp]janitors[/sp]
This remark keeps getting rehashed, so it does need to be pointed out again for posterity that you will not find any Gen 3 synths mopping the floors in the institute. Gen 1 = Wasteland Soldiers/Toilet Scrubbers Gen 2 = Institute Guards/Shopkeepers Gen 3 = Lab Assistants/Field Agents It would sort of make sense that the old obsolete androids would probably be relegated the shit jobs nobody else wants to do.

You walk around the institute and there's Gen 1's mopping up and talking about sanitation, there's Gen 2's guarding the place, and Gen 3's are doing the same thing the scientists are doing (ie: walking around doing basically nothing) A couple of single instances can't be extrapolated into overriding the established point that the Gen 3's are primarily Field Agents, Coursers and Assistants. It's a few single instances of contradictory writing against everything else that states the opposite.
I have a feeling that they're gonna go the Broken Steel route and slap down some DLC to "fix" the borked main quest. The ending to Fo3 was terrible, but the ending to 4 is just plain awful and unsatisfying. I rushed through the last 5-6 quests and after 40-50 hours of play and [sp]becoming director of the Institute[/sp], I get a 30 second video about [sp]"boohoo, I lost my son again"[/sp] that opens more holes in the story than it could even think about closing. Not sure about the other factions, but that was just bullshit. Because of how shitty that ending was, I've had almost 270 hours in game and that was the only time I finished the main quest.
does liberty prime get destroyed during the [sp] nuking of the institute [/sp]?
Dammit guys, you made me realize that the entire beginning sequence is a completely unnecessary plot point. Now the whole story is ruined
TBH I think everyone comes to that realization eventually :v:

Man I really hope the geck gets released soon. Have there been any updates on a release date for it?
I want a Obsidian DLC where the story is actually good.
Since the player is the most pure-blooded american in the game does this mean they're the most legible candidate to becoming the president? Does this mean we can get a dlc where the player makes their own enclave with blackjack and hookers?
