people are gonna mod in AR-15s with a shittonne of mods for it.
I for one will try to allow the changing of caliber used for any gun. .45 combat rifle? Now it's a .50
10mm pistol? It's a .44 now.
Yeah, I'm hoping that custom animations are easily possible like it is in other engines but I'm doubtful. Which will suck ass because I wanted to finish the cut-content weapons like the Chinese Assault Rifle.
The lack of content is entirely because their dev team is small for a modern AAA developer, even with that new Montreal studio they've still sixty people off from the AAA standard of 200~ people.
TES VI will show their true colors, either they'll use the extra dev members to get the game out quicker, but with tons of cut content and lost potential, essentially a repeat of F4 but tossed out the door sooner, or they'll stick to their standard 3-4 year schedule and we'll get a more complete game thanks to them not being so overextended.
The entire point of the Montreal studio is to do DLC that Beth doesn't want to feel burdened with. Remember they cut two DLCs from TES V cause "so over Skyrim".
Honestly I'm just waiting for a 1911 mod. I used it a crap ton in New Vegas and it could fit pretty well with the other weapons as a mid-tier pistol.
All of their games bought in new things. Oblivion was hailed as one of the greatest RPGs for a reason. It was fun and accessible, had a lot of content for everyone to enjoy, had amazing graphics and gameplay for its time, it overhauled all the core systems for better or worse with far smoother gameplay.
I don't really feel its fair to say its worse because every game Beth does for better or worse is a sort of experiment and evolution in some ways, even if part of that means simplification. Daggerfall was far more complex than Morrowind for example. But does it make Daggerfall good? Does it make Morrowind bad? No.
What.
They didn't innovate at all with Oblivion, in many ways they actually went backwards, especially in terms of magic, they just straight up removed a lot of spells (RIP levitate). The faction system also got dumbed down to shit with you being able to join every faction simultaneously, as opposed to Morrowind where you had to make choices about who you were siding with.
Fallout 4 not bringing anything new is just bullshit, the power armor system is brand new, as is the settlement building, weapon modding isn't new to the series but it is new to Bethesda's games and I'd say they did a pretty good job with it as well.
I meant tech wise, not gameplay. But I see your point.
also the morrowind faction shit is stupid and has been a weird misunderstanding of Morrowind for years that i've seen nostalgia glasses try to convince that Morrowinds faction system is deeper because of consequences.
You can join every faction, the issue is that for the fighters and thieves guilds they have a fighter's guild quest that if you aren't already in the thieves guild you won't ever be able to join the thieves guild if you complete that quest. That's just an issue with quest timing.
one thing that might be more indepth was that there's this huge chart of disposition modifiers based off what faction you are in, and disposition was removed from skyrim and unfortunately replaced with a -4 to +4 system.
had amazing graphics and gameplay for its time
As long as you don't include how the characters look with that, as even at the time they looked ugly and dated as shit.

I'll have you know that I really goddamn enjoy eating potatoes.

That might be possible. I've had a look at how animations are set up for weapons in Fallout 4 and, like a lot of other things, it runs off of keywords. So if a weapon has the AnimsGripPistol keyword, then anyone using a weapon with that keyword (like the 10mm Pistol) will use animations connected to that keyword. However, it looks like all the animations are set up in a single race (which is then attached to all the races that need the animations), so obviously there would be conflicts between multiple mods adding new animations. Hopefully there could be some sort of resource mod that other mods can just use a master to handle animations without conflicts, though.
I'm not 100% if this is absolutely the case, though. It looks like this is how it works after looking into it in FO4Edit, but without the official mod tools and everything it's hard to say for sure. I'm pretty confident about animations being linked to keywords, though. Bethedsa love using their keywords this time around.
I wasn't saying that Oblivion was bad, it's one of my favorite games, but in all honesty it didn't bring anything new aside from accessibility, it opened up the open world RPG genre to millions of people and that's pretty great, but other than that it really didn't bring anything new it just refined things.
This is true, it didn't do a lot of major things, it just brought accessibility and a few smaller or passive concepts into or back into the series such as mounts. Though the combat engine I feel is still worth pointing out, is it very sexy? No. But at the same that was like whao dude a big RPG with okay combat. It was a huge change from past games.
The 44. pistol's draw animation with the cylinder spin and cocking the hammer every time you fire as if it were a single action bothers me.
They cut DLC for Skyrim? Got a link? I've never heard of this.
Well even if the Montreal team really is just for DLC then they've still way better off than before, they had a lot of people working on Skyrim's DLC back in the day, now however they'll have the whole core team working on the next game from the start instead of spreading themselves thin.
The only public link I remember was stated during the charity livestream they did, it might still be on their Twitch account, also the video where Todd outlaid what they wanted to do after the gamejam.
Oblivion
Oblivion had some pretty good environmental art going on, but the art surrounding the characters and their gear was ... of questionable quality, even at the time of release.
accessibility
Is not necessarily an all encompassing positive.

So what mods for NV make the gameplay for like 4, since I wanna return to NV but I'm just too spoiled by the gunplay of 4

Someone made a Nuka Cola vending machine before the games release, it looks somewhat accurate.

Jesus. Talk about putting yourself on a mountain of pedestals. I'd pay top dollar to be there when reality finally bursts his ego bubble.

Nexus got to him. Remember, kids, don't take Nexus seriously or bad stuff happens.

Has anyone here been using the mod 'Spring Cleaning' (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4640/?)?
I've been building a lot lately and those irremovable shrubs and rubble piles are really getting on my nerves now. I'd have gotten the mod myself sooner but given how FO3 and New Vegas ended up way back when I modded them heavily, I've ended up avoiding the mod so far out of fear I'll find myself going down the path of sudden CTDs once again.
But now the more I build, the more shit I find getting in my way. I just want to to take extra precaution before I decide to get it. Are your games still stable after using it thoroughly?
I really wish you could modify the 10mm pistol into a two handed smg or rifle. Would love to turn it into a bolter.
I am enjoying fistfighting more than I thought I would in this game, I would've loved to have a short boxing arena segment here.
And what would go great with a boxing arena is boxing gloves

I've seen a lot of reports that that mod in particular causes a lot of changes to your save file that will bog down the game over time. No CTD reports I know of but without the GECK it's going to be muddy.

Eh figures. Ah screw it, I'll just wait for the GECK to grace us with its glory. I'd rather wait patiently than fuck up my game like I have so many times before.
