So to get that update you need to opt in the beta through Steam properties?
[editline]15th January 2016[/editline]
And does it break mods installed?

It hasn't broken any of my mods.
You just need to look at your mods, then look at the change list to see if any mods modify anything related, and then disable those mods or just roll with it and install the patch.
Of course, make sure to backup dem saves.
Sooo, I cant tell if I've actually finished the game or not?? There's no quests to do, but there was no kickass ending slideshow... or proper finale?

Talk to every faction leader still available, go to Diamond City and speak with the mayor if you're able, just see if ANYONE has a quest for you.

The slideshow [sp]is absolute shit. All you get is generic remarks about the situation in general. No specific closure. [/sp]

There will be no kickass slideshow
To be honest, don't ever aim to end the game - just wander around, build stuff, collect some legendaries. Save yourself from this anger.

Fair enough! Might as well grab those last 8 Achievements then
You know, it's really hard to think of Broken Steel-type DLC that would work with any of the endings.
Fallout 3 ended pretty much the same way no matter what you did, just minor variations of restarting Purity. Fallout 4 has quite a few more routes you can take and options as to who to destroy or side with, so they would need to either make separate postgame stories for each of them, or make one that involves none of them.

And making 4 seperate postgame stories would be too goddamn much work for Bethsoft.

So did Fallout 4 with minor variations of the movie playing in the end :downs:
Broken Steel did more than just (attempt to) fix the shitty ending of FO3 so i'm pretty sure Bethesda will pull the same card with FO4
Just give me my become elder of the Brotherhood ending.
I feel like they intended the brotherhood ending to be the canon one, and they have plans for Maxson later.
Imagine if he and the BoS became the major villains of a future game.
I am pretty sure The Minutemen is the canon ending. They are the only pure good faction.

Bastards want to scrap the better characters of the game, they are the villians already.

Wasn't NCR the canon ending of NV, despite them being corrupt and authoritarian?
The winning faction doesn't necessarily have to be one with fantastic morals.

Sure, but they still beat the alternatives, like Mr. House and The Legion.

What about the me, myself, and Yes Man ending?
What about Yes Man, IE true independence?
That's what the Minutemen ending is closest to, but it wasn't canon.
[editline]t[/editline]
:ninja:
But Bethesda still holds NV as a canon continuation of the west coast plotline, so I'd argue it still debunks the "pure intentions always win" notion.

Their opponents were literally raping slavers who were as fascist as fascist can get.

Again, the true independence option existed if you felt all three major alternatives were too oppressive, but it was not canon.
I think it is because the Brotherhood plans on leaving the commonwealth after the games ending that I think the Minutemen are the canon ending. The Minutemen are there to protect and bring together the commonwealth. They also are always there. No faction calls for you to destroy the Minutemen.

Why, exactly?
Not even trying to start shit or anything, genuine question, because i've never ever seen bethesda even mention NV, let alone recognize a canon ending for it or not
That throwaway line speaking about NCR (which can be related to almost anywhere in the west) can't be what they're using to say "welp NCR is canon", right?
And true independence can't be canon because it relies on the personality of the courier, which was the player character therefore there are too many variables involved for using it. Even House's ending would be more likely for an independent Vegas of sorts.
Also the Yes man ending was only really made as a backup in case you pissed everyone off or killed the wrong people. Kinda makes sense for a backup not to be the canon ending.

[I]" Fallout: New Vegas, which was published by Bethesda, is canon, as are all officially released supplementary materials, like the All Roads comic. "[/I]
And Bethesda has never stated it is NOT canon, which they have previously gone out of their way to do in the case of some other works set in the Fallout universe, such as Fo:BoS, the Fallout Bible, and Van Buren.

...that's it?
That's hardly a reliable source, specially to which ending is canon or not which is never mentioned anywhere.
The only thing bethesda ever said about canon is that the Bible isn't and Tactics is semi-canon aka "whatever we think is cool we'll be using" anyway
I thought it was a bit jarring how X6 had absolutely no reaction to the [sp]Institute being destroyed[/sp]
"You'll make a great leader" .. of what though

The assumption is, since the NCR still exists and is being talked about 6 years after the second battle of the hoover dam on the other side of the american wasteland implies that they won the battle and pushed back the legion or wiped them out.

The NCR would keep existing in all scenarios. Hell, even if the Legion won. They had no strength to push their expansion to NCR's doorstep. House and Independent endings specially rely on the NCR still existing, too - specially House, going out of his way to maintain the NCR alive but without its claws. Just mentioning then have nothing to do with them winning the Hoover Dam and the Mojave. The NCR is way, way bigger than what we see in FNV
You know. It is kinda funny how much your character seems like a huge ass deal in these games. Yet you hardly hear anything about the courier or lone wanderer.
Not even the Brotherhood references the person that helped them get the water purifier fully operational.
