Fallout 4 V24: You're Tied to This Thread Kid, Your Energy
No I'm complaining about the fact that there's people in this thread who insist on shitting on Bethesda constantly to the point where it's absolutely fucking stupid.
It doesn't even happen that much with the TES player base because people are still somewhat civil on that side, but when it comes to Fallout you have the "true fan" clique that appears every page trying to prove that Bethesda is destroying the franchise because of aspects that are either completely inconsequential or widely over-exaggerated in their importance.
I paid full price for the game. I was quite disappointed. I have every right to shit on the game left right and centre because I don't owe Bethesda a single thing. I can give credit where credit is due, but that does not mean I cannot criticise the game fairly or unfairly. No one has to listen to me and no one has to care about what I have to say, but I can say whatever I want.
Also if you want to go TES route, I'm in the camp that believes the series reached its peak with Morrowind and it has been downhill ever since. It is the simplification at play again and I'm quite sick of it. I'm still extremely pissed levitate has been removed for example. Not because it was useful or good, but to me it represented the freedom given to players by Bethesda. Just because it was added to the other games through mods doesn't mean I wasn't let down.
On some other level I'm disappointed in myself for even replying to your post and giving it more credibility, but whatever.
Keep those crits coming! Haven't done any mesh tweaks since I started texturing; that will all be finalized after the textures are complete, but I love seeing stuff like this, so we can get it closer than my clunky eyes can see!
Apart from some minor things it looks fantastic so far. Glad to see you're willing to take criticism because this will probably be one of the first models I get once the GECK is released and we get mods that don't threaten to corrupt save files. As much at least.
since Pressed-In-Gravy loves the Minutemen so much, i assigned him the purgatorial task of indefinitely manning an artillery piece at the Castle
while doing this i discovered a handy technique: if you've got Minutemen quests to turn in (from helping out settlements), you can avoid receiving another quest if you walk away before he can finish describing it.
specifically, he might say something like, A: "That's great news! Pretty soon, we'll have the whole Commonwealth on our side," then say B: "As usual, I've got something different for you," followed by C: "A settlement has sent word that Raiders have been harassing them etc."
Start running away when he begins that last sentence, C, and you should avoid getting another quest in your log. But he needs to finish that segue sentence, B, in order for your previous quest to complete.
also, you can turn off the speaker system at the Castle with the blue control box on the radio tower. that'll stop them from broadcasting Radio Freedom on the PA, preventing more radiant quests from filling up your log while you're visiting.
The character mentions their past every so often (graygarden, moe cronin, eddie winter, when joining the BOS if you're a guy, daisy, preston, piper) but it doesn't go past a single comment.
It is nice that there's always the option to specifically avoid mentioning your past, and the only character that would mention your past without you talking about it are the people who would know anyway.

Alternatively you can wait without visiting for a really long time and the quests will eventually turn in on their own, or so I've heard.
ugh I fucking hate assigning companions to beds and they suddenly decide they want to change
going to bed for Lover's Embrace and then waking up to Hancock every time :v:
[editline]19th December 2015[/editline]
cool tip:
Console this @ one of your companions
addkeyword WorkshopAllowCommand
addkeyword WorkshopAllowMove
and assign them to a Scrap station.
You can use this to make a psuedo room/house for them in your settlement that they'll for the most part stay around in.
Also people assigned to Scrap stations walk around with their weapons out, so that's a thing too.
It is the simplification at play again and I'm quite sick of it. I'm still extremely pissed levitate has been removed for example.
Levitate was as a mess even back in Morrowind and would practically allow the player to break the game's scripts and triggers by floating over them entirely. It makes sense that they wouldn't put it back in since it'd practically break everything.
Big shame that a lot of the cooler spells of the game were just removed from Skyrim though. The simplification of the systems in TES has been really botched and removing things like Attributes actually hurt the game, tremendously more than removing Karma or Skills in Fallout ever will.
this screenshot I took looks like a shitty gmod pose

I have entirely stopped using guard posts because of this, just have everyone who isn't a farmer or a merchant assigned to a scrap station. You get a fair amount of scrap, they still collect water from your purifiers, and they actively defend the place. I only place/assign guard posts for roleplay purposes.
I literally just said the characterization was fucked up because it didn't know where to sit between full character centric and full blank slate.
Hell if you want a bunch of gripes I have with the game I'll happily post a list of them.
Yet you always say in the thread that people who dislike certain things with the game (especially voiced PC among others) don't like bethesda games to begin with.
I hope the army coat Chase and Autumn wore in Fallout 3 is modded back in at some point. That coat was the shit, but the lack of cloth physics made it a bit weird looking when worn by the player.
Is there some reason that Fallout 4 keeps rewriting my plugins.txt file so that none of my mods work? I've followed tutorials on how to properly install mods, but the same thing happens every time. The game will just rewrite the file after starting it up a few times.

don't use the launcher to start the game

I keep getting bored and going "oh, I could play Fallout 4" but then I realize I have it on my PC, which is dead.
I'm this close to just buying a ps4 copy to play until my mobo gets here, plus I could also just let my brother play it afterwards
don't use the launcher to start the game
I've been using the Fallout 4 Script Extender's launcher, not the launcher. Unless simply opening the launcher causes this problem.

Simply opening the launcher disables all mods.

Set plugins.txt to read only.
Simply opening the launcher disables all mods.
Oh well fuck, I'm glad to know that now. If I set it to read only I'll have to manually edit it when I install mods though. I'll just refrain from using the launcher.

Why does the minigun look like it's vibrating out of existence

You can use the Nexus Mod Manager, or mine to install mods.
Why can't you combine the "Lazy Morning" stubble with other facial hair? It'd be great for the worn-out waster look.

I'm not sure, it's a weird bug I've been getting in Sanctuary for some reason.

I've had it everywhere.
Why does the minigun look like it's vibrating out of existence
The dream is collapsing.
So with my new laptop I'm actually getting 40-60 FPS on pretty high settings. Holy shit, this feels amazing.
One question: I had a glitch with my old laptop that I assumed was just that computer being shitty somehow, but it's persisted with this one: some paths and clouds in the sky look, er, weird.

What's the deal with that?
Most likely it's there to allow free movement with walk/run animations so the mesh doesn't get stretched across the two bone rigs and create texture stretching.
There are some coats with no slit at all though, and they look fine, i.e. no clipping or stretching.
Why does the minigun look like it's vibrating out of existence
Uh, I can't believe you guys haven't noticed that before. But the vibrating effect comes when you toggle the console while the weapon is in motion, or being moved, in your hand..
For example; if you lift a gun with the hold (E) button, and raise it in the air like you do with body parts etc., and you toggle the console, then the gun will be vibrating while rest of the world is still.

Also, behold my new face: "how I let the doctor slash my face with a razor, and then heal the wounds into scars in an instant."

And/or because using the helmet in Power Armor is for pussies, if you wanna see it in an immersive way.
Reaching level 40 with full combat gear and massively overpowered weapons, I decided it'd be fun to chuck all her stuff in a workshop bench and fast travel her slap bang in the middle of a ruined town to find new equipment and 'start from scratch'. Needless to say, it's been pretty fun so far. Almost a reinvention of character.

As far as weapons go I've restricted myself to a fully upgraded combat knife and a standard double barrel shotgun. Kind of funny, dunno about anyone else but I've found shotgun shells to be really scarce, so I've been mostly running around pumped up on Psychojet and using my knife.

Note the Drifter Outfit and others has bits which fall around to the sides, making sure that whole segment of mesh can flow behind the character. The NCR one doesn't have this, which would probably cause the front of it to clip through the front of the legs if I'm not mistaken.
Whoa, I just started the main quest in a different way.
[sp]I didn't receive the quest to find Nick in Diamond City because of the way I handled the conversation with Piper and the Mayor. While in Goodneighbor for something else, I went into the Memory Den and talked to Irma, who put me in a lounger. I relived the memory of Shawn's kidnapping, got woken up, Irma said I should look for Nick to help find Shawn.[/sp]
I had no idea it could go that way.
Holy shit really? Wow, this game has a LOT of different ways second playthroughs can go.

I had this happen to me too [sp]I think because I went to Goodneighbor before I went to Diamond City[/sp]
