I think that only happens with radiant quests?
Nah, some quests, like the library, can be cleared before you're asked to do it.
I find it funny how the quest-givers take the sole survivor's word for it, though.
I thought using markfordelete screwed up some scripted stuff? Or does that not matter when it's just ash piles or generic raider corpses?

Only screws up stuff that has scripts running on it, static objects like corpses and ash normally don't have scripts on them.

don't know much about it screwing scripts, but I only ever use it for general purposes. the mole rats you clear around the Red Rocket gas station have a tendency to not disappear and never respawn so i clear them out with those commands, same with the dead ghouls at the trading co-op. with Spring Cleaning and console commands I cleared out some structure debris, notably the spectacle island house. cleared a lot of room for people to live and work in there and can easily walk around in it now. doesn't look half bad, either.
Is there anything I can do to fix or lessen the frankly unacceptable performance issues I'm getting, especially in Boston itself?
I'm stuck in [sp]the Institute[/sp]. I somehow didn't get [sp]the courser chip...[/sp]
Could I somehow fix this with a console command? Can't be assed to load from an earlier save...

Have you finished institutionalized?
View in third person, size up, make paper models and take pictures from a distance with paper model on arm. Work out what looks good p much.
I'd prefer perfect cm accuracy because my model is custom and includes an addon with keys that I want to be standard keyboard key sized. As mentioned I have the assets ripped from the game so I can take direct measurements, but they're useless if I can't correlate ingame units to real world measurements.
I found information on Skyrim's unit scale (claims 1 unit = 1.428 cm) but I can't verify that it's identical, or whether the Skyrim measurements are accurate in the first place. This isn't totally necessary but I take a lot of pride in making my art extremely accurate, sometimes even down to the mm when modeling things like phones.

Take the length of the world league baseball bat unique, then compare that with standardized league baseball bat lengths from that time and use that for scale?

I was considering using a bat actually! I'm currently roaming around the game trying to find a ground truth such as that. I didn't know there was a world league unique, thanks!

There's a yardstick item in the game. You could use that for reference.
Emergency:
How the fuck do you actually remove ash/goo piles via the console.
Everyone just barks "use the console lol" without providing the actual codes.
And clicking on it > disable doesn't work. That actually works for nothing and i'm tired of hearing it
"markfordelete" works for me, but not instantly. I used it on Mama Murphy, it effectively erases things from existence entirely. Disable simply shuts off the AI and makes the model invisible and non-interactable.
[editline]k[/editline] I should really pay attention to what page I'm on.
Have you finished institutionalized?
Well I think that bugged too because I fulfilled every objective and went to talk to the guy again but the quest never finished so I ended that with a console command too. Oh god I messed everything up didn't I :v:
I want a mod that replaces the entire soundtrack with the song that plays when you're fighting a deathclaw
[sp]even the death music[/sp]

Careful using markfordelete though, if you put it on too many things and then reload the area it'll crash the game easily.

The only way now is to become their enemy or load an earlier save.

well damn that's hopefully perfect!
and I still don't know how I'm expected to hit a deathclaw in the belly without haphazardly waving my mouse around until it blinks
I think mouse wheel cycles through all the parts of the enemy you're targeting, and then Q lets you select them without needing to click
Jesus christ wow why does [sp]Lorenzo's artifact with electric signal carrier[/sp] kill everything in one shot?

am i missing something or is this yardstick a lying piece of shit

How I would it is like this. Bethesda released some pip boy model play thing toy, right? So all you have to do is find a person with that physical toy in the real world, ask them, for example, how long is the screen? If it's 4 inches in the real world toy then you now know that the screen in the 3d asset is 4 inches, all of the rest of the model can now be converted.
[editline]21st December 2015[/editline]
Actually, from the article below, it seems that Bethesda has a very accurate dimension of such a toy
"“As we wanted to stay faithful to the dimensions of the in-game model, any smartphones larger than the models listed will not fit inside the wearable device,” the company writes. “For these larger devices, our Pip-Boy companion app will still be available.”"

Why couldn't I give Father that serum?
The bridge to sanctuary on my save has had the same naked raider and dog corpses since the beginning of the game.
The bodies of the mole rats that spawn at the red rocket persisted for several in-game months.
It's not naked in the beginning. You made it naked!!! But yeah same.
Even if you butcher the corpse up and toss it under the bridge, someone will arrange all the body parts on the road again and again, [sp]like as if Dexter's brother.[/sp] :v:
Oh my gosh Cheat Engine and Place in Red mod are a must get if you're playing on PC and want to get most out of your settlements. Also, does anyone know if there is a way to replace the giant dead oak tree in the center of Sanctuary? I have a mod that allows me to plant live trees around my settlements and I want to replace the giant dead one with a giant live one.

So I believe I've got it now. Maybe I should find a place to post these measurements to aid people in the future.
I own the Pip-Boy Edition and was trying to relate the measurements but it was very difficult. The proportions are actually drastically different in some places from the ingame model due to the fact that it has to fit a phone, so I couldn't tell what was correct measurement and what was them fudging it.
Now, I measured the distance of the 4 little fins above the latch on the physical Pip-Boy and it came out to 2.35 cm. The yardstick model is 72.75 units, making 1 cm = 0.7956 units. This relation makes my fin measurement translate to ~1.87 ingame units.
The actual distance of the ingame model's fins is 1.875 units, so the correct distance is 2.3567 cm making my original measurement of the Pip-Boy Edition 0.28% off. It seems the fins were a great place to measure and everything checks out nicely!
Thanks for the help all!
tldr; 1 Fallout 4 unit = 0.7956036745406824 cm, this was tedious as all hell but god damn if it isn't accurate
pip boy owner; not all aspects of it are 1:1, the screen dimensions are quite different. everything else might be 1:1 tho
Yup. A few fun facts:
The surface of the main dial and radio tuner extend further to fit a phone.
The holotape slot could not fit a holotape.
The white vault door plug has a different profile and appears to be smaller.
The spool for the plug's wire has been moved downward, away from the hinge and was possibly shrunk.
The back is so different it's ridiculous, but it's obviously all been tweaked to make the hinge able to open fully.
It's not naked in the beginning. You made it naked!!! But yeah same.
I wonder how many people looted that guy's body to get the outfit versus how many people stayed in the vault suit.
I wonder how many people looted that guy's body to get the outfit versus how many people stayed in the vault suit.
I'm just making a collection of different outfits so of course I grabbed that.
Why couldn't I give Father that serum?
I was kinda miffed with this too 'We've tried everything, nothing has worked', well I literally have some [sp]Magic Fucking Immortality Juice[/sp] do you want to try that before... no apparently
Would have made a good secret ending but, no Bethesda didn't think of that
He has a terminal disease, the serum doesn't cure disease it just [sp]halts/reverses aging[/sp]
So, hear me out. I got a theory on how the minuteman broke up before PC shows up. What if everyone else was as sick of Preston's shit as we are, and they heard he was going to help Quincy. What if they thought "Let's leave Quincy alone, maybe Preston'll get himself killed there." So nobody shows up. But then they hear Preston makes it out alive with a few people. They're like "Oh fuck it, the minutemen ain't worth this", and up and leave to get away from Preston. Boom, minutemen disbanded. All because of Preston.
