Is it it me or do those icons/property pictures look really low quality?
Well JPEG compression really fucked up the image
Hopefully the updates will patch PNG files because it fucks up the board picture whenever i load it.
When I use multiple boards though, they barely look better

what resolution is your board image
what resolution is your board image
Its 900 X 900.
that sounds like part of your problem.
can you recreate it at 1024x1024? Or if possible, 2046
one major law in game assets is that things built to the power of 2 will load much faster and with less potential for error. I'm not sure how tabletop works but it may be resampling your image to fit into the board, which may default to 1024 minimum

1024 x 1024 seems about right.

If I go any larger than that, the board turns black

I might just change the icons to use their heads instead of renders
Pretty helpful tip when playing Monopoly:

Naw dude, the orange properties are god tier. Only $100 a house, and everyone who ends up in jail HAS to cross through them. To top it off, people who get out of jail by rolling doubles on a 6 or an 8 are going to land on one of them.
Pink properties are second-best. And everything else is kind of "take it or leave it"
Yay, my friend bought a 4-pack of this game and shared it with our minute amount of other friends!
Too bad Steam went down right after, though. I'm itching to play.
Update!
Non-Steam versions still haven't updated. I guess when they say it's going to update they mean whenever they get around to it. Seriously couldn't be that difficult.
Need help again
I can see all the card faces just fine, but everyone that's joined so far can only see the backsides of my cards. The faces (card template images) are blank. Any suggestions?
They are all hosted on imgur and in jpg format except for one png, but I don't think that's the problem because they can actually see the png ones.
They should make the RPG room pieces able to be frozen in place. Just had to rip a dungeon I made apart because putting in a table knocked a wall out, and in fixing the wall it pulled up all the pieces around it and became a massive domino effect.

I feel like they don't want the non-Steam version to be up to date to keep people who use the cracked version from playing online with Steam users.

Try the "freeze tileset" button.
Oh shit, I had no idea there was a freeze tileset button. Now my mancala board will work as intended!
[editline]3rd May 2014[/editline]
Now they just need to make a "drop one" button.

Alt + right click drops all pieces in your hand except for the first one you picked up.

So basically paying customers get boned for antipiracy measures again. Nothing new there but it's still bullshit.
Is there a game group on FP? I'd like to learn poker or cards some time.

Er, what exactly about this is dumb? Honestly I'm not sure.

Not even changing the group avatar gives off the impression that it's pretty abandoned

The last two properties that are super expensive are good too because you can instantly bankrupt almost anyone that lands on either one and there is a Chance card that makes you go to the more expensive one, so if you have that on instakill levels of rent, it's just a matter of time before that card comes into play and you win.

Yeah, but I think I would rank them in third place. They're high cost for high reward. It can be tough to get through that initial house-building barrier, but once you do, it's easy to become an unstoppable juggernaut.

Because you're making the assumption that they're not updating it because of piracy, when it could be for a number of reasons.

I was going off what the person I was responding to said?? IF what they say is accurate then my post is completely accurate for my view on it. Either way I view the devs fairly negatively right now. They should have planned things out better if they weren't going to want to do anything but Steam. There is no excuse to fuck over paying customers like that.

You were going off what he said... which was a completely unfounded assumption.
They're not "fucking over paying customers", they just haven't updated it. This could be for a number of reasons. I'm not a coder, but I assume there's a difference between steam and standalone.
I assume there's a difference between steam and standalone.
If the wrapper is embedded, yes. Programs which do delta-patches and et cetera would not update properly if the wrapper is embedded in the executable (we encountered that problem with SR1). That said, I don't know how they do their patches.
They should have planned things out better if they weren't going to want to do anything but Steam.
As a small studio of 3 people who as far as I can tell haven't really done a big launch before, I think it's forgivable if they didn't anticipate things such as the popularity they're currently enjoying and perhaps the question of how much they should integrate Steam's unique features into the Steam version and other such questions of roadmap adjustment. Perhaps when they got on Steam they discovered Steam could solve a lot of problems they were going to have to roll their own solutions for (this appears to have been the case, see the edit below).
I just think it's a bit high-horsed to, without evidence, state with some certainty that what's delaying the non-steam version could have been reasonably predicted and is apparently easy to do/fix.
Edit:
[...] we cannot maintain feature parity between the two version because the Steam version offers more possibilities
So it may simply be that the updates aren't out yet because they're implementing Steamworks or et cetera in the Steam version and researching what solution they'll provide to the non-Steam version. Just speculation on my part, though, and if on the money definitely not 'fucking customers over' if it provides a better experience to everyone at the cost of some up-front delays.
They might be a little more communicative about it then. It has been three weeks since the public release. Steam has had two updates in that time while the non-Steam version hasn't updated at all. Kinda makes it impossible to even use the program when the two people I would be playing with are using the Steam version.
Considering that they want their main add-on platform to be the workshop, it wouldn't work very well with the stand alone, since they would have to use different systems to accomplish the same things.
The workshop is ideal for a game like this, especially if it works similar to the Gmod way (where the system downloads and updates mods automatically)
I'm sure they will do a sort of KSP styled reimbursement for the non steam gamers.

Could you elaborate on this? I don't play KSP so I'm not sure what you're talking about.
Could you elaborate on this? I don't play KSP so I'm not sure what you're talking about.
KSP is a unity engine game; before it came out on steam players downloaded new version from the website store using their purchasing account.
Once the game came out on steam they added a part to the site which let users input what their steam account name is and transfer their purchase over to the steam version.
Didn't they already do something like that? I haven't necessarily been paying attention to your issue, Alice, but they said that those few people who purchased the standalone version would be able to email them and receive Steam keys. Maybe you can give that shot?
