Same here I absolutely hate playing with and against other players because they usually try to rush you to go into battle when your forces are no where near ready and then get mad when you don't.
Of course the other problem is when you actually get big turtle games of SupCom it really sucks too since it'll take 10 years to complete as everyone has some impenetrable defense grid with it being simply a war of who can macro their economy the fastest and build as many nukes as possible :v: One of the things I actually liked about supcom2 was it made it so uber turtling was breakable in large part due to the economy not being so reliant on spam of mass fabs to win late game and because the experimental units were buildable mid-game instead of only being feasable (and ususally more useless thanks to nukes and T3 bombers) late game. Though that said the cybran magnetron was the most brillaintly bullshit ultimate defense unit in the game. Once you built 2-3, you could pretty much lock down and control the army flow of any force on the field that even thought about getting close to you. [editline]2nd October 2013[/editline] TBH I still hold the opinion that while SupCom1 was a much better game in terms of style, feel and complexity (the good kind) I still think that SupCom2 was simply the much better balanced game in terms of game flow and the kinds of shit you could do, there was also a much greater variety of unit abilities/experiemental stuff than SupCom1. The only problem was is pretty much lost all the pizazz that SupCom1 had, the visual style looked almost cartoony, the scale (the BIGGEST SELLING POINT OF THE GAME) was downsized and instead of focusing on keep units more basic in function but making the act of building an army better they focused on making units do unique "micro abilities" like you get in starcraft. I think it would have been much better if they kept the cool new shit to Experimental units (aka they would be like champions or something) but all the standard tanks and stuff would be kept standard but improved in how they attacked/functioned/etc as an army. Oh well. It still makes me sad that GPG basically died because their next game (Kings and Castles) was shaping up to be all the good stuff in supcom 2 mixed with all the good stuff in supcom 1 taking place in a fantasy setting.
I used to love turtling in SupCom: FA as UEF. Just build up a massive army, slowly, and fill a few atlantis carriers with planes. I'd keep my borders safe with rows upon rows of T2 defense guns, with T3's intermixed. And when the time was right, I would launch my carriers towards the enemy base. And when they arrived, it was time to block out the sun it was glorious. I haven't bought this game yet, but I hope to see the same scale eventually
So can you crash celestial bodies into planets? If so, how?
So can you crash celestial bodies into planets? If so, how?
You have to have a small moon with a small mass, when you are in galactic overview ( you can press . to get there or zoom out) you will see icons below the small moons, put the thrusters on the moons and then select which planet to send it to. It is very late game though.
TBH, at the moment I enjoy SupCom:FA more than PA. Much more content, and the AI is much more competent. I'm waiting for PA's AI to be improved and the singleplayer mode to be introduced. I love RTSes but I generally hate fighting with other players, because I'm a massive turtle. I'm one of those people that will spend four hours doing a single SupCom mission. :v:
Yeah I hate fast paced rush shit too. Most games lack proper defensive units and buildings, pisses me off to no end. Anyway a decently large solar system with different starting planets should hinder rushing.
A lot of people seem to be complaining about the AI and lack of content here. That's fine, because the game isn't finished yet. I just hope people realise that. Also, the use of KEWs should put an end to pesky turtlers.
Yeah I hate fast paced rush shit too. Most games lack proper defensive units and buildings, pisses me off to no end. Anyway a decently large solar system with different starting planets should hinder rushing.
It would also hinder initial raiding unless both teams start with unit cannons, which is really fun with bots. And it'd be boring. Right now defenses are at a good place, they can hold off much larger sized armies for low resource investment. The only issue is the holkins is the ultimate base breaker if someone is on the defensive. It is tech 2, but tech 2 comes up really fast.
Are they ever going to fix how shitty building walls is? I don't really want to place them block by block.
holkins fuck up anything within range and can wipe out stationary armies within a few shots. Once you got a good eco you'll just get an advanced sat up and have 5 holkins rape a base within a minute.

New lore reveal!
LORE REVEAL: NEW FACTION, NEW LEADER! Not long ago, we welcomed you to the universe of Planetary Annihilation with a short story about Invictus of Legonis Machina’s awakening. Like most Commanders, Invictus is a scarred, hulking war machine searching for purpose while struggling with corrupted memories. After fully coming online and repairing other Commanders, Invictus becomes a faction leader. His core philosophies turn into his faction’s philosophies. Commanders like Invictus haven’t always existed. They were built. Then abandoned. They’re now coming back from an extended dormancy, long after their makers moved on. In total, there are four known factions in the universe. And though every Commander and his troops have assimilated their machine-parts, each has a wildly different outlook on the world. Today, we’d like to introduce you to a new faction and leader courtesy another short story from our writer Matthew Kehm. Note: some names and material are subject to change (as you’ll see a bit further down in this post): ATDZ: 364 Sector 71.5.3 Commander Ezek fired his lower thrusters and shot up into the air just as the first missile struck, leaving a smoking crater where he had been standing only seconds earlier. The shock from the blast threw him off balance, causing him to flip end over end, internal proximity alarms sounding as the ground quickly approached. Ezek quickly attempted to compensate for his trajectory and speed by firing off his stabilizers, but to no avail. With a thunderous crash he tumbled through the ruins of what had once been a large city of permacrete and steel, hammering his neurosteel frame. As he finally came to a stop amidst the debris, his defensive systems were alerted to several more missiles homing in on his location. Even as he lay on the ground, partially covered in the wreckage of what he deduced had been a factory at one time, rockets immediately fired off from his countermeasure suite, arching high into the sky on an intercept course. They would not miss. They never did. Pushing himself from the wreckage, Ezek stood upright and signaled a nearby squadron of his Inquisitor gunships to seek out and destroy the source of the missiles. Seconds later, the unmistakable roar of the ships could be heard overhead as they raced towards their targets. As Ezek surveyed the area, he was reminded of a similar scene many years before. It had been in the ruins of a city much like the one he found himself in now: debris littered streets and collapsed buildings that had once soared high into the clouds. It was there that he had awoken out of TDZ, or Time Designation Zero, not remembering who or where he was, let alone why. He had stumbled through the city, searching for clues, anything to provide him some answers. He found others like himself among the wreckage of that dead city, far beyond hope of repair and reactivation. He had also found the remains of biologics in massive numbers, the sight of them triggering his memory core to days long past. They had been called Progenitors. The name alone triggered other memories inside of him, memories of a great machine god who had created him and others like him to serve as its messengers. The Progenitors had been his first creation, but they had turned away from him and rebelled. A great war had been fought between Progenitor and machine. This drove Ezek to renew his search for others of his kind. They had to rebuild, and quickly. In time, he did find others like himself that he was able to repair. Together they built other machines; machines of war. No matter how long it took, they would search out the galaxy for any Progenitors that remained. Any machine that was found would be welcomed, welcomed to join them in their cause to unite all machines under the banner of their god. Those that refused would be swept aside. There was no room for non believers. World after world, system after system, Ezek and his faction conquered in the name of their deity, now known as The Founder. And now here he was, on yet another battlefield, fighting machines that refused to accept the truth. On all the worlds that they had conquered they had yet to find a single Progenitor. Ezek knew they were out there, somewhere, gathering their strength, waiting for the perfect time to strike. Signaling his forces to advance, Ezek stepped out of the ruined factory, joining his other Commanders who had just arrived, and continued their advance on the enemy positions. The Founder was watching. Very cool. Here’s something that’s also cool: like last time, we want you to help us name this faction, its leader, and help steer the direction of its symbol. In our Backers-only message board, we have polls set up for the names. We also have a free-form thread about the symbol open for thoughts and ideas. Here’s a little background on the faction as a whole, to get your creative juices going: Reactivating in the middle of a ruined city, on an unknown world, Commander (faction leader) found he had all of his functionality, but his memory core had been corrupted and virtually erased. What he could decipher led him to begin searching the city wreckage for more like himself. Finding and repairing several other Commanders, they looked upon him as their leader. Searching the rest of the world yielded more Commanders, some that were repairable, with many more nothing but salvage to be used as parts. (Faction leader) deduced there must have been a great battle here, as there were bodies of biologics that his memory told him were known as Progenitors, enemies of his kind. Something in (faction leader) memory also hinted at an omnipotent machine god that had created them. The Progenitors had been slaves of the god and had rebelled against it. The Commanders had been tasked with destroying them. (Faction leader) vowed to find and destroy every last Progenitor, as well as eliminating any Commander that would not conform to the faith. The (faction name) would cleanse the universe in the name of their god. Here’s an overall description: This faction is based on various religious movements in human history. Led by a charismatic figure, the faction vows to spread their message across the universe and to crush all of those, biologic or machine, that will not convert to their beliefs. We’ve got several options for the name of the faction: Followers of the Founder Temple of the First The Enlightened Army of the Creator We’ve also got several options for the name of its leader: First Follower Malach High Priest Ezek Nemicus the Incorruptible Inquisitor Zor We got a ton of great responses last time, so we’re more than happy to do this again. Thanks for all the support and ideas, and have fun hopping into this discussion of the next faction. See you in the forums! Anyone care to add me on steam so that we can play the game abit?
I've noticed not many people are playing online, hope the game doesnt die
The beta has been cut to 40$ on the humble daily for 19 hours! just got it!
This game is fucking incredible. I had a 1 v 1 game with a friend and we took the battle to the stars. The race for the Halley Moon Rocket was intense and the end result was spectacular.
I don't know whether to purchase this or not, its killing me. Huge fan of Total Annihilation and I enjoyed Both SupComs too. Is the game in a good state right now? How much major stuff is missing and how many bugs are prominent?
is this game worth the $40 in it's current state?
The game is un-optimized but It's getting better with each update. I would buy it while It's on sale since $40 Is the release price.
The game is un-optimized but It's getting better with each update. I would buy it while It's on sale since $40 Is the release price.
This. Get it while you can! https://www.humblebundle.com/store
Is there any quick fix for the annoying stuttering?
this game has some scary bugs for something that's supposed to be released in a month
I'm not very good at this game. I bought it the other day during the humble store sale, and I'm just not good at this yet.
this game has some scary bugs for something that's supposed to be released in a month
It's also missing many features and final touches that many people would expect from a game that goes Gold status.
can holkins/anything with enough range shoot between planets? [editline]14th November 2013[/editline] Otherwise, does someone have a list of things that can shoot from planet to planet?
I just finished an hour-long game. First game, too. I was on a team with some very good people, and after losing my commander i ended up building a nuke while the enemy team turtled. Their hideous lack of anti-nukes led to us winning the game. So fun, though, with all the huge armies.
Just go into the beta (kickstarter backer, yay finally), activated on steam, game crashes on load. What do.
So everyone who was a cheapfuck like me back in the kickstarter now has access to the beta. Only 500 MB? Thats a lot less than Supreme Commander Beta was.
22 November update. Beta Build: 57449 This is primarily a stability build. We have a bigger feature build we're working hard on. Our plan is next week, before the US Thanksgiving holiday! What's better than too much food and large scale robot war? Fixes a frequent client crash we've been seeing this week. If you're getting a crash on startup, this should help. Please make sure your drivers are up to date! If you're on a laptop, consider getting the latest beta drivers from AMD or NVidia for your device. A new tutorial video! Gives a little more detail on getting started. There's a known issue of it playing at 320p, rather than full resolution. We're looking into it.
Whats up with the black lines?
Whats up with the black lines?
More like whats up with your perspective? It looks like your game went TA mode. :v:
