Galactic war should ramp up in difficulty based on your tech; I have 3 sub commanders and some crazy econ boosts. It's still fun, though. I just played a game with 2 sub commanders and myself against one commander. I rushed some builders into his base before he got a good network of turrets up, so i had turrets eating his econ from the inside out, and a couple factories were making some support infernos and ants. This pushed the enemy commander out of his base and right into a blob of ants and infernos. [editline]25th May 2014[/editline] Seriously. 3 sub commanders. all i really need to do is place a bunch of turrets and the subs do the rest. It's pretty funny, actually.
Try 5 sub commanders. When fighting the faction leaders, fps drops to snail pace as they spammed units.
Been playing Galactic War and have been having fun. I got a sub commander and whilst cool for being a distraction it was a shame that in the match he did not try to attack the enemy at any point instead just stacked his troops until his base was full of them just sitting there not even paroling. That was the last time I played today so hopefully he will do more than hog resources and stack a useless army in future matches. If not at least if he is between me and the enemy they wont stand a chance at getting anywhere near me by going that way.
In Galactic War I have 4 sub commanders which are gang raping the other AI. I will be swapping them out to make it more of a challenge.
Just like to point out to you all that this song exists [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEC5YurXKX8[/hd] I feel its relevant.
I wonder, if we played a 6 player facepunch match. How many minutes before the servers crash?
I wonder, if we played a 6 player facepunch match. How many minutes before the servers crash?
You can play a 6 player match without a crash, it might be fun.
Made a steam group, we can organize games and shit there. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/fppa We should try to have a game later today.
I wonder, if we played a 6 player facepunch match. Each of the duking it out in a 6 way commander on commander battle to see WHO is left alive before the final impact.
I fucking despise artillery in this game shields were in supcom and total annihilation for a reason
I fucking despise artillery in this game shields were in supcom and total annihilation for a reason
I do have to agree artillery is a pain. It always gets build just out of my sight range and close enough to attack my main base.
I fucking despise artillery in this game shields were in supcom and total annihilation for a reason
The tier II gunship or whatever it's called is the absolute fucking worst. That thing has ridiculous range. It can stay far enough away from your naval defenses to just snipe them unopposed. Flank that thing with a couple of AA capable cruisers and you're indestructible. EDIT: The Stingray.
I do have to agree artillery is a pain. Everyone used this strat, and i got to the point where a fun game that was dramatic and had it's amazing moments turned into playing for 5 minutes then being leveled.
Is the game worth $30 at this point?
Is the game worth $30 at this point?
yeah, only if they make it better down the road. Or if you have a friend to play against. The RTS side is pretty good.
I'm sad. Picked up this game because it was on sale but can't play due to RAM issues. I think it's FINALLY time to upgrade :v: Don't know jack about hardware though.
I do have to agree artillery is a pain.
Is the game worth $30 at this point?
I quite like it but you have to put up with some alpha/beta shit, like ram problems, optimization problems and balance. Is it just me or is galactic annihilation literally not playable until you unlock air tech. Like it's not even possible to win a match without it because that's the only strategy the AI knows.
I took too long to deploy my commander in galactic war and instead I watched my sub commander deploy and lost my chance to play, just ended up watching my sub commander get crushed in a 1v4 without me =\
"There's no way that PA will go under 20$ before I get more money right?" and then it was 17$ and I spent my 20$. This happens every time.
Game's been fun so far, if a bit of a headache trying to keep up with the AI's mastery of multitasking and surrounding the fuck out of me. Probably wouldn't win a single match if I had to do more than assassinate the commander to win :v: Can nukes in sufficient quantity knock a moon out of orbit? I'm trying to figure out whether my commander exploding shortly after the enemy's did was one of their nukes finally getting through, or a moon impact. Seems likely it's the former since practically everything except a couple of anchors got annihilated, and there was a huge crater.

Kinda dumb, IMO. It can kick your ass on 4 different planets just as well as it can on 1, and at 100.00% efficiency in everything it does.
We had a 5 player FP match with 1 AI and the AI managed to hold all of us off. Really the only way to win against the AI is space fighter spam to keep him on a planet and then sending a moon at his commander.
I swear man I want this game so bad, it sucks that I won't be able to get this. I'd have 20 bucks by friday but the sale will be over by then.

That was normal
I just won a game because the other team left their commanders in those orbital transports without any defenses.
just got this yesterday off of the sale, and holy shit its a ton of fun i put a ton of time into playing supcom2, and this is a dream come true for another supcom-esque game, can already see myself dumping and wasting a whole ton of time in this, especially if theyre gonna support modding (theyre doing that, right? i remember seeing something like that somewhere but i forgot where?) i wish i could figure out how to build nukes or blast a moon into a planet though :( also holy crap the difficulty between a normal bot in a skirmish and a bot in the campaign is huuuuge, i got pooped on
I was fighting an AI 1 v 1. Escaped to a moon and was doing a really good job of holding them off. And then suddenly a nuke flies over and blows everything up.
So I just got this because it was on sale. First game went interesting... I started out, don't really know what I am doing. Suddenly air units out the ass. I build some orbital stuff and figure out how to move my guy to the moon. I took control of the moon, all is well. My base back on start is dead, except the orbital area which is just chilling. I tell it to start building fighters and those ion cannon things. Back at the moon base I noticed the AI brought a builder dude over. I move a few tanks to wipe him out, when suddenly he builds a ring thing. Then the ring spit out 2000000 of his airplanes and troops, this was being built rather close to my moon base as well. Within minutes everything was wiped out. "Well I guess I will do a bumrush for his dude with my ion cannons. I haven't seen him use orbital stuff." I fly maybe 30 fighters and 3 ion cannons over to his base. Right as I enter the area suddenly I see he has another 200000 fighters and like 15 of those orbital defenses. Seconds pass and all my orbital shit is gone. Meanwhile all those fighters figure out my commander is orbiting the moon and destroy it. End. And this is normal difficulty? Shit. Any tips? :v:
I too have bought this game on sale and I too have been wrecked by the AI's superior planet managing. Seriously, I pump out my first unit and he's got a fleet of jets bombarding me.
