From the dev blog:
A Very Large Planet! During the demo last Friday, we showed off a demo with a 650 meter radius planet. This one is a little over 3000 meters radius, or roughly 22 times more surface area than the one we showed then.
That plus some moons and some asteroids to boot.
That makes my RTS dick rock hard.

I came. Hard.

Just for comparison, because I was curious myself. The Earth is 2123.666666666667 times larger than this example world.
I don't think we will ever see 1:1 worlds of the Earth lol. But hey, it's still pretty good am I right?
It's also 393.3333333333333 times smaller than Pluto (which is smaller than our moon by 1.472372881355932).
MATH! [SUB]I'm bored...[/SUB]
uh are you using volume or radius for that math
uh are you using volume or radius for that math
Just diameter. I felt that's all I needed to quench my curiosity.
Volume is 246533m^3. For reference Earth has a volume of 10^15m^3.
Also there will be multiple planets, right? I was 100% sure before, but all this talk about planets being or not being large enough for multiplayer is making me doubtful. It'd be kinda weird to have planetary annihilation weapons when you only have 1 planet (same with several different planet types).

Entire Solar Systems seems to be the idea right now. Asteroids and moons included.

Good, and yeah they have talked about it before, just not lately. I wonder if in "realistic orbits" they mean that you can alter an orbit and it's calculated with physics (you blow off a big part of a planet means the orbit will be changing).
That planet is just above a 10x10 map in supreme commander, in terms of area
I don't imagine single planets will be viable for larger games, but maybe that's the idea
Edit: Of course, I have no idea if there's a difference in relative scale
I'm going to be so confused when attacks can come from literally any direction. You could have an attack force come in from the long way around the planet, or the poles, or eventually even from space. There are no map borders like in a normal RTS. It's all just one big looping map. This is going to be very interesting.

Multiple planets are confirmed. You choose how big they are and how many of them there are. They're even talking about 40+ player games. That's huge!

The idea though isn't to have one planet the size of the largest map in supcom, its to have multiple planets spanning a total area of the largest map, but with that space thing inbetween.
Plus the largest supcom map I've seen was 81x81, and it was 70% water.

Awesome, are they going to be sending steam keys to backers then?
Is there any way I can change my UberEnt username?
Will it use the UberEnt username in-game or would it use my STEAM username?

The explosions look really satisfying.
I bought the Galactic Edition yesterday and now I can't look forward to anything else, I just hope my laptop will be able to run the Alpha
I hope i'm not the only one who'll send an army all the way around the planet just to surprise my enemy by attacking from behind.
Why wasn't there a live stream this week?
Alpha is out it seems, already started downloading.
Though the downloader is a bit odd.

Anyone wanna get an FP game going?
[editline]asd[/editline]
If it even lets me do anything, can't seem to join any games, sends me to an empty screen.

I believe there's no NDA aslong as its noted that its some pretty early stuff, so have some pictures:

I am a bit surprised that nobody's posting now that the alpha is out, am I the only one on Facepunch that's in yet?
People apparently get in according to backer level, but I think it's getting close to full deployment soon.
i think the vast majority of backers got the beta level one
I'm waiting to order mine.
How is the alpha? I know feature wise it's very basic, but does it play well already or not yet?

Well, its a bit buggy, somewhat laggy and camera is a bit weird, but at the moment its basically Supreme Commander / Total Annihilation.
Should be playable with a pinch of patience.
I won't be in until the Beta. I couldn't fork out enough for Alpha.
so what exactly is in it right now
are we at the multi-planet level yet or no?
For anyone with the Alpha, hows the camera? those pictures make it look a bit weird, any way of tilting it to an angle, ot is the straight birds eye view only when you're extra zoomed out?
