So still no fix on the cheating going on editing values and infinite hp/ki/stam in duels?
I have a very important question that will influence my purchase of this game:
Will I be able to make my create a character look like Crono, from Chrono Trigger?
[t]http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/chrono/images/0/02/Crono.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20080706173950[/t]
He's also a character by Akira Toriyama, I'll be really surprised/disappointed if I can't.
yes.
Now I'll have to wait 2 more hours until it is downloaded.
So, how does this work? Are there classes to choose from in the beginning? Do you select a fighting style and level it up? Or is more like in Dark Souls and stuff, where you can theoretically do whatever the hell you want, as long as you get the stats?
I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I hear everyone struggling with certain missions but the most trouble I had was with the Bardock mission where you have to keep him alive and fight off like 30 dudes and then freiza and only then it was only 3 attempts.
Are people trying to combo into their ki blasts? Like my Majin ladies stats are all over but she's able to handle everything. Dash attack combo, teleport twice and instead of the stomp I use Evil Explosion or another similar short range move. This sends them tumbling into the ground and by the time the recovery animation is done I'm already flying at them for another loop.
Hell male Majin's have a pathetically easy infinite. Punch four times, heavy attack to send them flying, heavy attack to flying headbutt them, then repeat. I killed the final boss at like level 20 with it.

You choose from Humans, Saiyans, Namekians, Majins, or Frieza's race, each having their own specialties that are further emphasized depending on the gender you pick (although Namekians and Frieza's Race lack genders). There's no real combo customization, you instead equip up to four different Super skills and three different Ultimate skills alongside allocating stat points each level up and getting equipment and items that can help boost your character. But when you make a character at first, you have to stick with them for the rest of the story (which means grinding, a lot of grinding) before you can unlock alt slots.

21 hit combo? I can get that with the meteor crash move but it's doing fuck all damage at the moment.
I started playing this 2 days ago. What's the maximum level ? 100 ?
Also, I can't believe they did a good job with the costumes, it seems there are many different combinations and variations, that's cool.
The only thing I don't really like is the multiple character fights (1x2, 2x1, 2x3 etc), I still prefer the traditional 1x1 (side to side from Budokai 3 would be a dream, but I understand most people don't like it).
Finally, is a PS2 controller enough for playing this ? I really can't get used to play DBZ games with keyboard (mouse is fine btw).
By the way, to those who have never watched Dragon Ball: Start with Kai. Otherwise it is a bit slow.

The multi-fights can make things pretty dynamic at times, but honestly it feels more like the devs wanted to not only put in an easy way of multiplayer, but also make it easier for the AI to just gang up on your ass. However you're using a PS2 controller, so long as it's bound properly it should do pretty well. I'm using a cheap-ass third party 360 controller myself because my brother's borrowing my PS4 controller.
I never watched Dragonball and I don't know shit about it. Will I be able to understand everything? The story and stuff? Because I may just have bought this on impulse after seeing some gameplay.
Easily. The story of Dragonball is insanely simple
Big bad shows up and overpowers everyone or mortally wounds most of them. Goku or Gohan show up. Big series of battles till something pushes one of the Go's over the edge and they go berserk. Most you'll miss out on are call backs and references and such. Even then if you walk into the time chamber where you select missions you can get a synopsis on that story arc to read.
Only really "complicated" arc is the Majin Buu arc because Buu transforms like 30 times. First he's a fat dude who kills humans, then a joke character named Hercule/Mr. Satan turns him good by literally going "stop killing people it's bad." (buu is about as smart as a baby). Majin Buu spits out his evil side after he see's Hercule get attacked and the Evil side kills fat buu then goes on to kill literally every human on earth and he eats pretty much everyone by turning them into candy. After Goku and Vegita get eaten they beat him up from the inside and he turns into a screaming child and it's his final form and it's kinda weird.
Also, like any show, TV Tropes it up to get an idea of what's up.

You missed the part where Goku dies every time and his friends essentially save him and defeat the big bad. The only time he truly defeated someone was Frieza and even then Trunks had to finally kill him.

Isn't Kai the remastered version with terrible new voices and weird colour palettes?
So I keep seeing the term super armor thrown around, but I don't know what they're talking about. Can someone please explain to this me? Google isn't giving any results except for how to deal with it/where to get majin super armor.

Super armor is a fighting game term for when a character can take damage but doesn't physically flinch.
For example, some dude is winding up a big punch (it has super armor). The opponent then tries to hit them. It does damage, but does not interrupt the attack, as the character didn't flinch cause he had super armor!

He killed Kid Buu pretty hardcore duder. Also I'm counting Freiza to, especially considering Toryiama is bringing him back for some reason.

You can tell it's super armor when you punch a AI controlled character and that yellow glow shows up and you don't get the combo counter. It's pretty bad in this game.

I leveled up a bit and it still feels like they can deny my combos with super armor on a whim without even using a skill. I beat Frieza at least but I don't even want to imagine how much bullshit is going to come my way down the line.
Wow, I beat the game earlier and I gotta say, I'm actually excited for post-game stuff. I really fucking love this outfit that unlocks in the store afterwards, too, it looks SO damn cool and compliments my stats. But I also gotta say, this is probably the most lazily translated game I've personally ever played :v: I mean, seriously, first with all the subtitle mistakes and mismatches, and the NPC dialogue, then there are literally voice lines that they just flat out didn't even change. [sp]At the end during the hahah the camera is moving upwards and everything is good we are happy fade to black moment Goku's laugh just suddenly is his japanese voice. On top of that, I've noticed sometimes (Or all the time?) when throwing the Spirit Bomb as God Goku theres a short Japanese line.[/sp]
regardless still a great game. Think I'm probably gonna grab the season pass or w/e after they announce some DLC if it sounds good. Final battle was pretty great if not a bit irritating at points. [sp]Giant ball of energy pulling a 90 degree turn to hit you is always fun.[/sp]
Will Bandai Namco ever fix the server issues plaguing the game? Find out next time on Dragonball Xenoverse!
(sorry if someone already made this joke. they probably did. :v:)
Just got the game today, I decided to make a saiyan because god dammit they're fucking badass. I kept the strategy that i've had with all dragonball games which is fucking rush the enemy, don't even let them get any hits in, rush them and don't stop hitting them until they're dead. I must say though, it's fun going back to some of the early side missions when you've leveled up a lot, specifically the one where you help Vegeta and Nappa wreck everyone. Makes the whole "Saiyans are the strongest fighters in the universe" thing come to life. Also Vegeta is my master oh my god I was so giddy when I found out that I could do that.

Saiyans are fragile compared to most other races, I went full stats in online battle to see how well I fair, I got destroyed in less than 5 minutes along with the rest of my team who were saiyans.
I created an earthling now and they seem a bit better.

Yeah, even in the story mode fights it seems like I need to dodge a lot because if I start getting combo'd my health just drops.
I'm stuck on the Bardock story arc because his dumb ass dies every time. Anyone know of any really good AoE Ultimates that do decent damage? I need them to dismiss/destroy the Coalition of Cannon Fodder (tm) that are Frieza's underlings.
I've never watched it and I really enjoyed the game and the story
I've only watched Team FourStar's abridged version, I'm having hella fun with this game. :v:

My friend basically beat the game by spamming Recoome's ultimate, so whatever it's name is, just use that.
Seems a few things mainly z souls are tied to fps

Why Trunks sounds like Link whenever you talk to him?
Do you unlock longer combos as you level up?
I'm really enjoying the game so far, the soundtrack kicks ass and punching a guy so hard he flies 500m never gets old. Can you block super attacks with other super attacks? Like having them clash?
No beam clashes outside of cutscenes sadly.
