I want this to be real, but the text really makes me think this is fake. Unless it was just placeholder text?
It's not fake. It was listed in the store earlier.
Alright, just got back to playing last week since the game first came out, and I'm curious what the best way to get REQ is at the moment? I've been playing Infection mostly and it's pretty fun and gives a bit but I'm wondering what brings in the most; mainly because I'd like to open at least one of those Reach packs.
I believe Warzone and BTB tend to have the highest REQ point rewards.

Will definitely check it out, guessing winning it would be crucial too? Only asking since despite how much I love Halo, I've never really been good outside of SWAT, Infection and maybe Grifball :v:.
Yeah, winning gives you a pretty good boost.
A'ight cool, guess I gotta up my game then.

Holy fuck.
Halo 5's Forge (on its own) is coming to Windows 10 for free. 4K support and so on.

Sounds like 343 are testing the PC waters like Turn 10 did with Forza Apex. Even just having the sandbox of Forge and not a full Halo game will be amazing on PC. Never liked the jaggies or performance of H5 Forge on Xbox.
oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Wait, you can play the actual maps on PC too?
Can you play community maps?
If so, that's awesome

There's also this:

And a mention of "advanced file share capabilities" so it sounds like we can do everything the normal game can except competitive MP.

couldn't we just get halo 5 on pc? or are they still being sticklers about that
So it's basically just Halo 5 without official campaign and competitive multiplayer
Hell yeah, this is awesome
Hopefully they port the full game to Windows 10 sometime, I've really been wanting to play the halo games.

Bringing full Halo 5 package to PC would make the Xbone entirely pointless.

Like I said in the first post about it, they've got to be testing the waters and/or teasing a full game. Why go through the work of porting the engine and all of those assets to PC, making PC-specific improvements, controls, and UI, just to stop at Forge?
I'm not trying to downplay the news since I think it's amazing, but if you think about it like that it makes sense IMO.
Plus Halo 5 is still strong and getting updated on the Xbone. I think once the major updates are finished and the Forge on Win 10 testing is "finished" we may see the rest of the game come to PC.

I would expect MCC to come over first though.

Some people are too casual to shill out a grand for a good computer, I'd say that there's still a market for the Xbone

You don't need to spend a grand for a decent PC.
As much as I'd love Halo on the PC I can't help but think how bad I'd be at it :v:, especially at modes like SWAT.
I feel like MS is just taking out the content from the Halo 5 engine, porting it to PC (which they've likely had done for months, there are H5 dev videos that show it running on PC and not through streaming IIRC) and then releasing it as this. Because of the fact that you'll be able to playtest maps, which implies that the core gameplay systems/weapons/gamemodes/vehicles are intact, I wouldn't be surprised if someone hacked the shit out of it to enable stuff like server hosting and bypassing of XBox Live entirely, similar to what was done in ElDewrito.
If that is the case, I am very interested in seeing what the filesystem of Halo 5 is like. I've always wondered if they stayed with the standard .map format, or if they switched over to a format like Halo Online with the resource caches (.dat files).
Also I hope to god the controls are better than ED's Forge. That is such a shitshow, but it's to be expected as Forge was literally never supposed to be played in that engine with a mouse and keyboard.
I'll probably just use a controller for forge building and switch to M+KB for testing.

People still play CoD and battlefield on consoles.
Yes. And Halo is what drives some people to buy a Xbox over a PlayStation. Without Halo there would be no Xbox.
One of the reasons I bought a XB1 was for MCC and Halo 5.
[editline]19th May 2016[/editline]
that last one a regret.
Maybe in the future we'll see Halo become a timed console/Xbox exclusive, but I don't see that happening for a while.
Tbh if they bring MCC to windows 10 and have it so if you have it on your xb1 account it crosses over to windows (like with quantum break) that would be fucking awesome
Would love to casually play all the halo on my PC without needing a controller or without needing to run it through some video stream
The Stinkles has spoken:
I agree. However for folks wondering why we don't "just" port the whole game - realtalk:
While I personally believe it's an evergreen masterpiece of whimsy and wonder, it would be a year old by the time Forge released, and given the architecture, cloud, matchmaking, etc etc etc etc differences between platforms, it would be neither trivial to port, nor uncompromised in that process, given it was designed with targeted Xbox One perf in mind to begin with.
Both audiences deserve better than that, as you'll see with Halo Wars 2 onwards, which was designed with Xbox AND PC in mind from scratch and makes the most of each platform's relative strengths.
DustStorm's tweet was about Forge coming to PC by the way.
