The Halo Thread V12: The Last Thread Turned Into A Bridge

Considering a lot of community interest will be in content creation and modding anyways, I can immediately see the community getting to work on those and porting other games' maps to the engines. I have no idea how plausible that is, but seeing what happened with El Dewrito/Anvil, I give it a week to a month before we see some serious shit
Jesus I didn't see that coming. I was being incredibly optimistic when I asked for a PC version of Forge a few pages back.. I've been rewarded.

Maybe it was just for you :v:
Try asking for MCC on PC next.
Yeah, i think we will be seeing Halo released proper on the PC soon. Might hear something at E3's PC pannel, i bet?
I expect if Microsoft would ever release Halo on PC they would only release the Master Chief Collection, keep their latest Halo game for the console.
Playing Halo on PC again would be incredibly cool.
I expect with the signals Microsoft sending right now, it's either going to happen this E3 or never.

I may be very late on this as I haven't browsed the thread, but have a look at this:

That's the reddit of an unofficial hack for Halo Online, which -was- a clone of 3 for PC.
It's very worth checking out.

Oh, we know all about HO, ihatecompvir hangs out around here, plus we've had some incidents concerning HaloMaps....
I was one of the mods for the Subreddit for a while

Still confused, does this mean Customs? Since it says PLAY and test, so how are you suppose to test an Assault or Infection map without customs?
Bringing full Halo 5 package to PC would make the Xbone entirely pointless.
no it wouldn't. the amount of people that play cods and battlefields on consoles is extremely high compared to the people that play on pc. this applies for pretty much any game that gets released to multiple systems.

It would as in they wouldn't have a reason to buy the Xbone over a PS4.
Without Halo there is almost no reason for MS to support the Xbox as a gaming system. It needs exclusives and Gears of War isn't the IP that will keep Xbox afloat.
The Xbox One still has other exclusives, but to be frank, things like Scalebound and other titles are now Windows 10 as well.
I get the feeling that if this goes well for Microsoft, they're finally going to start implementing cross-platform factors between Windows 10 and Xbox One like how they were going to go for it with the 360 and Windows Vista/7 before that fell through. At this point Xbox Ones are basically stoic-spec PCs with a unique UI, so there's really no reason beyond marketing factors for the system itself to keep exclusives as they are.
Besides, with more incentives for people to adopt Windows 10 via its own OS-exclusive games, that's more people on or buying Windows 10. So it's still exclusivity bullshit, just on a different principle.
I'm fully aware there are more exclusives than Halo on Xbox, I worked at Xbox.
But none of them have the same pull as Halo does. The only other two notable franchises are Gears and Forza, and they don't have the same pulling power as Halo does.
even gears and forza are coming to pc. its clear that microsoft is trying for some sort of crossplatform gaming using the windows store and windows 10.
The banter also implies that Halo Wars 2 and the next actual Halo will be released on PC too. It's becoming clear to me that MS actually does just want to turn Xbox into their gaming brand; something that transcends the physical console. They don't really loose either way. Console players keep their consoles, and the PC gamers play the game on their OS through their store and shit.
It's all Microsoft in the end.
From the view point I have of things that doesn't seem to be the case at the moment.
[editline]19th May 2016[/editline]
I mean they are working towards a Xbox/PC ecosystem given recent developments regarding Halo and Forza, and the store merger, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

The biggest problem they're going to have is related to the paywall on Xbox Live.

Wouldn't surprise me if they kill the Gold for online play requirement and just add other stuff to gold that makes it worth it.

imagine all the salt though, lmao
imagine all the salt though, lmao
It's Microsoft, salt's gonna be salt to them so long as they make a profit without damning their consumers after the whole Xbox One announcement debacle.
imagine all the salt though, lmao
They get salt with Major Nelson or someone else from Xbox says nice things about PS4 only games on twitter, the levels of salt this would cause would make CSGO look like a saltshaker
Besides, if Microsoft were to, by some miracle, drop Xbox Live's monthly payments to play online, Sony would be caught in a hard place and be forced to not require Playstation Plus to play games online - or get caught in a reverse situation from the PS3's free online against the 360's monthly fee.

This is what sold PS3s over 360s, so if MS did that, it would be a way to have more than sonys numbers in a year.
It would be the ultimate ruse: get Sony to start paying for online, and then, once they are complacent and they rely on it, pull the rug out from underneath them!

Idk. I recall tweets from Phil Spencer and neogaf posts from Frank that explicitly state the broadening of the xbox brand name to pretty much just mean "Microsoft games"

I know, I was briefly with Xbox and know a tiny bit about that stuff. But I don't see it being fully realized for a while.

You worked with Microsoft?
You worked with Microsoft?
Yeah. Hardware QA on a 5 month contract and before that I had a shorter contract doing QA work for a few of their game dev studios.
My contact(s) are now over and I'm at Wizards of the Coast now.
i'm assuming you play magic as well?
Yep. I play Magic and just started getting into DnD.
[editline]20th May 2016[/editline]
Luckily my job there doesn't require me to be good at either game lmao.
PC version sounds neat and I'll be excited to play more people in customs.
...Okay, Microsoft. You win. I've upgraded to Windows 10.
I can deal with fullscreening my games to avoid forced vsync, if it means I get some modern, FIRST PARTY form of Halo 5 on PC.
