The Halo Thread V12: The Last Thread Turned Into A Bridge

How do people survive the landing in ODST drop pods? That's a really violent stop. They don't even use rockets to lessen the impact or anything. The Covenant ones you could always just handwave as magic anti-gravity tech, but that's not the case for humans.
because halo
there's a certain amount of logic that the universe doesn't adhere to for some reason
all these roundabout technobabble explanations for in-universe shit, but there's still a combat jeep that's clearly designed with looks and gameplay in mind because the gunner is not only exposed but completely unsupported and just dangling around back there
so I guess it could be mini artificial gravity shits that counteract the sudden fuckening in the velocity when you poop the ground. I mean, there's artificial gravity in human tech.
Ok maybe there is artificial gravity that nullifies all sudden changes in velocity or something but because of the craft's size it only works once and for a few short seconds so it's triggered to turn on when it senses the ground close to it
but since the escape pod passed a lil cliff before it crashed, it misfired and turned it on before it actually crashed and everyone ded
but the real reason
no one thought about it or cares

man I just want really buttery toast like right the fuck now
ODST pods in previous games had little chutes as well as thrusters on the bottom, but there's still plenty of chance that the landing will kill you anyway
Being able to recover from the landing and start shooting dudes immediately is part of what make ODSTs the (old) best of the best

Also why they're called helljumpers. Most of them either don't survive the impact or the re-entry.

Sounds like something the Imperium of Man would do
"Drop pod doesn't work? Shit sucks lol"
All that effort for fancy clouds with lightning on the way down and my autism gets annoyed by absolutely no effects upon the pods landing down
I didn't even notice until you pointed it out, now I can't unsee it.
It's all a simulation anyhow, impact physics need not apply :v:
what kind of xbox do you think they run those simulations on in Infinity lmao
that's the best they can do
There was only one other suggestion, and it was kinda spoilery. You won by default :v:
Mine was the best and absolutely true :frown:
So what happened to [sp]Medicant Bias[/sp] after H3? AFAIK they plugged him in to the Forerunner ship when Truth came to Earth. And also he was in High Charity, someone theorized that he got into Cortana when Chief left her there. Is he in any way related to [sp]the AI construct Osiris encounters[/sp]

If you remember in Halo 2, a dozen or so pods are launched, yet only 2 or 3 ODST's survived the landing. The rest of them were killed at landing, and the ones that survived but got separated from the group were most likely murdered by the covenant.

[sp]Exuberant seems to be totally seperate considering shes a monitor, however I would really like to know where Bias is, maybe he'll turn up in Halo 6?[/sp]

I want to know where Offensive Bias is as well. We go back to the Ark in Hunters in the Dark and neither of them are there. Instead replaced with another ai.
Maybe 343 just doesn't care for them in the Reclaimer Trilogy.
best Halo 5 summary, obviously contains spoilers
[sp]-Halsey tells infinity stuff is gonna go down
-Locke, his band of power rangers, and Buck retrieve Halsey and kill Jul
-Halsey says Cortana is back and is waking up the Bayformers known as "Guardians"
-Chief sees a vision from what seems to be space magic and thinks Cortana is alive
-Chief says he's gonna go get Cortana
-Infinity says aww hell no but Chief is a strong man who just wants to save his waifu so he goes rogue and blue team follows
-Locke and Co. go to meridian where a bayformer wakes up and a bionicle known as "Warden Eternal" says he is in service to cortana
-Bionicle believes that AI are the rightful inheritors of the mantle (?)
-Locke and Co. meet up with an AI voiced by an anime character to stop Cortana
-Cortana tries to get all of the AIs to join her because she is AI jesus and can cure them of Rampancy
-Cortanas main goal is to force everyone to stop fighting by threatening them with the Bayformers, basically nuclear deterrence but with big robots
-Cortana tries to put Blue Team in a Cryptum till her goal is achieved
-Locke and Co. save chief
-Infinity is stranded out in BFE Space Quadrant 342134
-Cortana is taking possession of the Halo rings as a backup I guess[/sp]
Even if they survived that fight, the only 5 people to make it off Delta Halo were Johnson, Keyes, Stacker, Banks, and Dubbo. Stacker might or might not be one of those ODSTs, but the rest are kinda fucked.

He's probably still on the ark. Just didn't see a reason to interact the task force.

Does anyone have a good link to the steam group? The current one is all messed up.
It is time.
The embargo is dead.

For once, I kind of agree with an IGN review (in progress).
Every positive and negative they list is pretty much what I expected
Destructoid gave it a 7.
The comparison to CoD's level design is a bit odd.

I'm getting really worried that absolutely no one has talked about BTB though.
Because it won't be in until later?
oh, ok.?
currently 86 on metacritic

Whole review is a bit odd tbh. Feels like it was written by someone with no knowledge of the series but had needed to appear as if they did to fill some assignment parameter or something
If they had that POV, they shoulda just ran with it. I love when sequels are reviewed from the eyes of newcomers and compared tho the views of people who have been into it.

The score would've probably of not changed or be a point lower even if he was a newcomer, because Halo 5 seems to do just about nothing to really explain itself past the base premise of the plot, just like Halo 4.
This is kind of surprising, https://mobile.twitter.com/DMC_Ryan/status/658542900809039872
I mean it wasn't good, but I wouldn't say it was the worst.

He's right about the MP, best multiplayer experience since Halo 2.
mp is what i'm going to stay for so i'm not too bothered

I don't doubt that at all, it's just the thing about "the forerunners are the baddies as usual" caught me off guard
