Elites went back to rebuild, Brutes went back to probably warring with each other, Jackals probably went back to being pirates, Grunts are doing whatever and Humans are in the Engineers good books. They'res so much they could have done with that. There's so much potential there for great spin-offs dealing with a post Halo crisis but then 343i went and did Halo 4. Exploring that Forerunner world and fighting sentinels as 117 would have been cool but what they did was terrible.

So you really wanted Halo 4 and not Halo 4?

How do I save matches in 5? I only see "bookmark" in Theater, but I doubt it saves my match in the hard drive.

Campaign's story was misadvertised garbage. Gameplay is great, multiplayer is possibly the best yet. The new systems such as REQ points and delaying/removal of age-old features is questionable at best, quite possibly the foreshadowing of things to come. Still like the game for what it is, though.

I like the idea of REQ packs in theory, I just think that a good portion of items should have a guaranteed way of getting them, like legendary completion and special achievements.

I feel like the campaign is way better if you just play it blind without buying into any hype or trailer or marketing I think it's not that bad at all so far (2nd' sanghelios mission), I didn't pay attention to marketing. A friend who just got the game on a whim and has no knowledge on the game other than the release date and playing the older games loved the story.

The issue is that the marketing was amazing and set a very clear idea of what the game was [I]supposed[/I] to be, it's kind of hard to ignore that.

The story it tells by itself isn't inherently awful, its a combination of a bunch of stuff. Firstly, obviously the marketing campaign was INCREDIBLY misleading. Barely anything in it was featured in the game itself, or the themes it presented. Secondly, the story was barely self contained. They killed off the main villain of H4 in a fucking comic series, plus a lot of the story about Osiris, Sanghelios + Arbiter, and the Spartan Op shit was never explained, you were expected to know everything already. Lastly, the story cuts off way too quickly. [sp]If you compare what actually happens in h5s campaign to any other campaign, its so insubstantial.[/sp] I actually liked H4's story.

Beginning of Halo 2 was "Oh shit earth is getting invaded", then 3 was "Oh shit earth is getting invaded harder this time." But with 5, things change pretty dramatically by the end of the game, with [sp]Cortana trying to rule the galaxy[/sp], and seeing how that change comes into effect. Halo 4, though, I mostly didn't care for it because the Didact seemed like some extended universe asshole with a really insignificant superweapon compared to the Halo rings. I did like the extra focus on characters, but not so much the Didact.

If you've never read the comics, you wouldn't know he didn't actually die in Halo 4 in the first place. A lot of the other stuff is explained in-game if you listen to the Spartan's banter too. Halo 5's story had a lot of issues, but being too un-selfcontained wasn't one of them. Like any other Halo game, it's mostly explained through all the background chatter and side conversations.

Bookmarking might save it to the hard drive, I don't know, if you're worried about losing something, just save it with DVR and keep it bookmarked.

His most recent one is a dislike for the story and art style. He's definitely not the only that doesn't like what 343 did, it's perfectly fine that people don't like every single thing about a game. If we all liked it and claimed there were no faults with it we wouldn't have much use for this forum. Every post would be "Halo 4 is perfect" and every reply would just be "yeah". It has issues, people (like me) point out these issues not because we hate 343 or Halo it's because we like Halo, and we want more good Halo games. He's called an idiot for not liking the Halo 5 story too, which doesn't make any sense to me. The story is weak, not a lot happened. I get that they were setting up 6 but the story that's presented in the game doesn't hold up. You're free to think its the best Halo story yet but I don't think calling someone dumb for having a different opinion helps with discussion.
