i like the new update but i can't get over how poorly designed 80% of the armor is
i only want like 5 sets of armor because the rest look so bad

Brought to you by J.J. Abrams.
Armor lock was easy enough to deal with. I never had a problem with that. For me it was just a pace-breaker and felt like it interrupted the whole flow of things. Like time just stops for a few seconds. Maybe it's just me. Either way, letting me use a jetpack all the time made up for it. I'm always up for more mobility in shooters.
IMO the biggest problem with armor lock was that it made vehicles explode when you tried to run them over. It was a cool gimmick at first but it ended up just causing people to stop getting splatter kills because they might have had it equipped.

Yeah but you could argue they had that in Halo 3 with the personal mines you could throw out.

You couldn't spawn with those and they were fairly rare. Even besides that, it was pretty hard to actually kill an oncoming Ghost or whatnot if it came after you from an angle you couldn't see. I've had times in Reach where I'd see the vehicle approaching on my radar a second before it hit and just pop armor lock and kill it without even turning around.

It did make for fun mindgames when you'd boost up to someone and stop at the last moment only for them to run out of locking juice and get killed by your plasma guns.
Godamn Warzone is so imbalanced. I'm probably going to play BTB more than I play Warzone with the way it is.
Bad VA for a bad character. He might have been good if they spent basically any time at all developing him. The only character that I actually cared about (blue team is cool as shit and i love them from the books but they have barely any development in game)other than Chief was Buck, and that was because he was already in ODST.
Locke is the most one dimensional, boring, deadpan character ever. It's kind of shame you play as him for the majority of the game.
He's super serious at all times but not in the "grizzled veteran" sort of way that might be interesting. He keeps his cool at all times but not in the "holy shit he's a badass" snarky sort of cool. There just isn't anything to him at all. He's simply a speaker for lines telling the team where to go.

I get the impression he was brought on so late and unexpectedly that they had like just a day or two to cover what the original actor had done in weeks.

The lore behind him would explain why he is so serious and not in the common trope-y way. I thought his character was totally fine and sometimes fun. I loved the VA, and the dialogue wasn't bad either.
The only thing that doesn't fit the lore is that he gives up on his grudge against Chief, even though that's the whole motivation besides it being his mission.
The only problems I had with reach were
- The story and a fair bit of the dialogue. Most especially the contrived ways which killed some characters
- I didn't like noble team. Token characters the lot of em.
- Armour lock. Mostly because I wasn't good with it, but my enemies were. Nah, Really a terrible ability.
There's some minor things in there like not liking a few armours, preferring the battle rifle and the carbine to what we got, the brutes being too small, the elite rank change , the lack of the hornet, and the inability to ride moas. But other than that Reach was an all round solid game.
Plus there was that firefight mode where you'd get a jetpack, infinite ammo and a fuel rod cannon. That was great.

While I mostly agree with you, and I think that this could've been solved just by having, you know, more time to develop them as characters, I have to say I really liked Jorge and of all of Noble, he got the most characterisation.
the time where they developed the most was when they did
except for kat that was out of the blue
but jorge does it to save innocent lives, Carter did it for his team, and Emile died being a badass
Well, Jun survived Reach with Halsey and now leads the Spartan program at ONI, though not as a soldier.
Jun's basically the new Mendez for Spartan IVs. Pretty cool way to bring back the character.
I like the idea of the Noble team characters, but they were all undercooked.
Still more personality and charm than Fireteam Osiris, though. Vale and Buck are amusing, but Tanaka and Locke just completely lack depth. Somehow even Noble Six is more relatable than Locke, and i'm not just talking about them being our customizable protagonist.

I prefer my Spartan Rare

Weird, 343 uploaded a video earlier about 3D Printing your spartan, but they removed it.

Yeah, there's a character inside N6's grunts and his body language in the cutscenes. Locke is just... a peg with arms on it.
Idk about Tanaka being boring though. If you give her a chance to speak during the chill missions, she's pretty cool imo. She's a better Locke than Locke.
Ya, the cutscenes really don't do the characters justice. Aside from Locke, they've all got some pretty good back to back during missions if you just hang around in certain areas.
Any tips to not suck in slayer? I just kind of die a lot without achieving much while getting a lot of near kills
Play with a coordinated team of friends. That's the biggest thing and it makes or breaks your wins.
[editline]14th November 2015[/editline]
Well shit, done just about all I can to condense the amount of pictures we have without removing em. But next thread op's gonna have to be two posts.

Focus on not dying and team shooting. Going 6-0 is a lot better than going 12-12, especially if you're getting assists.

And stop throwing nades in the middle of a fight.
Saw this on reddit, I laughed

Is Monty Oum in the special mentions or thank yous of the credits? It really feels like a lot of his style is in Halo 5 and it really is a shame he never got to see it.

The Team Osiris intro has Monty written ALL over it.
How much of H5 did Monty do? Keep in mind it would have had to been done last before January.

Would Axis have been in cohorts with him at all? Something seems doubtful about a Scottish company working with him.
Would be sweet to get some decent team transports in warzone
