the lack of customization has pretty much killed the slayer playlist for me
what? customization has nothing to do with slayer, nor any specific playlist
Loadouts belong in Warzone only IMO.
Yeah. Loadouts should be nowhere near Arena.
You need weapons in maps to create conflict zones. Slayer always played out like a game of king of the hill in that people were constantly fighting for control over where the best weapons spawn. It's an interesting dynamic and the lack of it in Halo 4 drastically changed the way the game played. In my experience, most games of Halo 4 played out as long distance encounters. The smaller maps were an exception and they somewhat redeemed it. Now with good weapons being scattered around, and the power weapons being dead centre of the map, it really forces players to push forward and get them. You need that in Halo or it becomes too generic. People always complain about Halo not being an arena shooter anymore but then for some reason complain that loadouts were removed. Placed weapons in a map is a staple of Arena shooters. It's the one aspect of Arena shooters that Halo has kept a hold of, 343 really sunk it in deep with Halo 5. Halo 5 is more of an arena shooter in terms of mechanics than some of the other Halo games.
I completely misread that post but I meant loadout customization
You mean the feature that gave Halo 4 multiplayer it's terrible reputation?
I always did consider Halo to be an Arena shooter like Quake Arena and Unreal Tournament, more so UT then and more so now because of the movement now feeling almost UT-esk but even still. They all share the same kind of concept, it's just that you can't pick up all the weapons. (And that's fine if i'm honest, In UT i often try and stick with the Flak and Shock Rifle as much as possible.) Maybe the weapons arent all unique like in UT but, for Halo 5 they all have differences and most of them are pretty useable. I'm still finding myself using the Pistol most of the time but i have been using the AR a lot more since sometimes you're better off unloading the magazine on someone instead of trying to 4/5 shot them with the pistol at almost melee range. It depends if you feel lucky. Heck, Halo 4 played decently well when custom loadouts werent around. It's just that most of the playlists allowed this, so small maps involved almost everyone carrying Boltshots and Vehicle Maps involved people carrying Plasma's all the time. That's my experiance anyway...
My halo 5 is updating. Did BTB come out?
Yes it did.
6.2 GBs yay
???? it provided a lot of replayability for me, I don't give a shit what its reputation was [editline]18th November 2015[/editline] "you like X feature? you can't do that, other people disliked X feature!"
It was a one-off feature they tried to incorporate into the main multiplayer for Halo 4 to modernize the game. It backfired spectacularly and Halo 4 multiplayer quickly died down while Halo 3 and Reach were far more played still, and probably likely are for those who haven't migrated to the Xbox One and MCC (and probably won't for some, given its reputation and first impressions). There's a pretty damn large reason why Halo 5 ditched the Loadouts for everything but Warzone, and instead tried to modernize the gameplay via mobility and the smart scope factors, technical additions ontop of the base gameplay rather than completely throwing the framework around it all into chaos. You may have liked it, but the vast majority of the fanbase did not.
Well Reach only had it for certain gametypes in the playlist, too, although they could be set freely by gametype creators. Most people just generally prefer starting simple and having to earn their weapons - by spawn, or from the cold fingers of their dead foes.
Strongholds is actually fun in BTB.

Okay this does a pretty good job of explaining what the fuck happened to Cortana. They never really specified what was going on with her that clearly in the games.
Stiiil haven't played Halo 5 yet :( I need to buy an Xbox One...really annoyed that it's not released on Xbox 360.
Stiiil haven't played Halo 5 yet :( I need to buy an Xbox One...really annoyed that it's not released on Xbox 360.
If it WERE released on Xbox 360 it'd be downgraded to hell and back. Plus if they did try to develop both of them at the same time, the Xbone version would suffer most likely and have been held back by the older console.
We need to organise an FP BTB match, playing with randoms is the worst, I switched of my Xbox in rage after my first match.
Maybe we can actually get something arranged now. I've always said i wouldnt mind playing with Facepunch but shit keeps getting in the way somehow. I've had a quick look at the BTB maps and they look pretty nice for what they are. Can't wait for more people to get their hands on Forge.
I would have preferred hand crafter maps. I don't mind the odd forge map in a playlist but for god's sake, give us something polished.
this was absolutely infuriating

why is "CUCK" available as a service tag?
Video is a little old but I don't remember seeing it posted.
I did this with a few other FP guys not too long ago. The rocks near the waterfall have a bunch of collision issues.
I'm going to make so many jump maps on Alpine. Pretty excited.
Went up from Silver to Gold on Team Arena! Hopefully I'll be able to maintain my rank.
I'm forever stuck in Diamond 1 because apparently I'm not carrying hard enough. :hairpull:
