Was that the preview that was almost entirely fake? Like a demo they showed off that had nothing to do with the actual game?
Technically it was representative of the gameplay, but yeah, as Highwind put it, it was a series of events at New Mombasa that we'd never see in the game itself. At least for a 'lying E3 demo' it gave us a good idea of the final product generally. You know, besides the 'only one-third of the game being on Earth' thing
There's a video somewhere of Marty getting pretty upset about the amount of stuff that didn't make it into the game. He mentions that E3 demo specifically.
Most of the Halo 2 developer commentary is just them talking about what's broken and what got cut
I miss dual wielding.
As neat as it could be, I would much rather find a needler and think "Cool, I got a weapon", rather than "Okay, I've got a sub-par weapon until I find the second half".
As neat as it could be, I would much rather find a needler and think "Cool, I got a weapon", rather than "Okay, I've got a sub-par weapon until I find the second half".
I feel like a good solution to that is lowering the accuracy so it's only effective in a closer-quarters area or making it where you can carry three weapons, but make you give up a weapon slot if you want to dual wield. I've played plenty of games where these have been the solutions and I've never gone "great, this is half a gun." Hell, I was playing Black Ops 1 earlier today, picked up someone's dual 1911s since I was out of ammo, and went "fuck I guess I'm not leaving this house for a while because anyone more than 20 feet away is handing my ass to me with this accuracy."
Let's be honest, having a feature be some cool, hyped thing for Halo 2, not changing it much for Halo 3, and then unceremoniously dumping it for Reach and beyond seems like they just gave up on trying to balance it rather than even really bothering in the first place.
http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=985145 Speaking of the e3 demo, here's a link I found awhile back that does a thorough documentation of the entire thing.
Holy fuck I love the flood, in a "they're scary shit the first time you see them and there's so fucking many of them" sort of way. I mean I'm doing The Library right now and I've figured out how to deal with them effectively, but doing the mission before this was hell (in a good way). [editline]a[/editline] [sp]Yes this is my first time playing Halo and getting to this part because it's so much easier on PC[/sp]
h3 flood levels are the bomb
h3 flood levels are the bomb
[sp]Cortana[/sp]
[sp]Cortana[/sp]
Me and a friend started a race to see who could finish legendary first. No flood spawned on that level for him, at all. He walked through the whole thing. He won.
I found the flood really annoying, and I just ran through those levels.
They're a nice change in pace from having all sorts of projectiles firing at you constantly. I found The Library a lot easier than levels with actual Covenant tbh, because they don't have shields and all it takes to kill them is one shot from a shotgun, which has ammo aplenty since the flood often have assault rifles (which help kill those parasite things) and shotguns (for everything else). [editline]28th November 2015[/editline] Like I died like two or three times total on The Library, I died like two or three times in the first few minutes of the next level because I forgot how to use cover in that time period.
I feel like the one person on this planet who has Cortana as their favourite level of Halo 3.
[sp]I like how Lockes team just stood there while the two had that fist fight. Locke is too "by the books" and i know Buck wasnt too fond on the idea. Not sure about the other two.[/sp] But yeah. Locke got rekt. Yes, if in correct in remembering. Halo 2's first E3 showcase was the heavily scripted and buggy as hell New Mombasa stage that they put together in a huge hurry. After that, the next again year is i think they showed the Multiplayer with a lot more organisation. (BTB at Zanziber i think)
spoilers guys
spoilers guys
You're not missing much man don't worry. The only good thing in Halo 5 is the multiplayer
Why does the voice quality drop so significantly from H1 to H2 :vomit: I would've kept the Mk. V suit if that meant I could understand what people were radioing me about. Like I guess maybe it would make sense when playing as the [sp]Arbiter[/sp] because you don't hear their comms in H1 and that's the first time you hear them, but seriously, did they have to lower their radio budget on the new suit?

Seriously though, do you mean like hearing Cortana or Hood, pelicans, etc.
Are the marines not Australian enough for you? In Halo 1 it was slightly fuzzier over the radio but still very clear by comparison. 3:13 in this video: the quality sounds like dogshit in comparison to like, hearing Cortana's conversations with Foehammer in H1.

Some old concepts of the Halo 5 BETA menus https://www.artstation.com/artwork/BaL9z Thorne is there instead of Buck When did they replace Throne with Buck? because if these were made for last year's beta, then it must have been very quick. [editline]30th November 2015[/editline] More stuff https://www.artstation.com/artist/jeffchristy
Still would've liked to see Thorne on the team instead of Tanaka or Vale
The mission description also mentions Fireteam Majestic. I wonder if the story had major re-writes. Or it could be placeholder text.
Hey everyone, Fallout 4 and work have been occupying my time. Got a 4K TV and Halo 5 looks fucking SICK on it. Anyone trying to play a bit?
the story we got definitely feels like it was rewritten in a short amount of time a la destiny
It's strange how much of it differs from the trailers. The reveal trailers made it look like the master chief had not just gone rouge but actually went into hiding. There was also that trailer with the arbiter saying that some part of the master chief's past would play an important part.[sp] It was also implied in some trailers that the master chief himself was the one contacting the guardians, not cortana. [/sp]
Why did you spoiler tag the Arbiter? There's people that don't know that you play as the Arbiter in Halo 2?
I didn't :v: I've literally never once played Halo 2 before a few days ago. I dunno, I spoiler-tag things out of habit.
the story we got definitely feels like it was rewritten in a short amount of time a la destiny
It's like they had something big, something major planned, and then Microsoft may have stepped in and said 'no.' Like if they really were planning to kill the Chief or something. I noticed that we got the Osiris and Blue intros like a month or two before the actual release, and they were relatively silent besides HUNT THE TRUTH this year about story material until around E3. And to that degree it almost feels like HTT was either written by a side group that didn't get the memo, or they made all this audio log stuff and didn't feel like going back to rewrite it for the changes to the game so they went through anyway. The result is that ONI is doing a fuckton of bullshit in the background and not a single bit of it matters or even gets mentioned. Not even trying to vilify Chief for the ambassador incident.
