I never understood why consoles restricted their players from multiplayer games with another paywall whilst PC only needs to pay for the internet. It doesn't make sense.
No, it makes sense. They sell you the hardware at a loss, and have to recuperate that somehow, keeping you in their ecosystem (paying for Live, buying games on their store, etc) is how they make money.
Steam on the other hand used to get most of its money from taking a large cut from games sold on its page (it now takes very little since it instead survives from market transactions and other Valve games), and since it hasn't had to subsidize hardware, starts off in the black. Origin and uPlay both survive since they're platforms that get paid for by the games you buy from their publishers.
Jesus christ Locke's VA is bad.
well maybe he's not bad but it's like he didn't get any direction at all
Well shit. That was a short ass game.. Even on legendary like wow... also, no spoilers but..
just wow.. Did no one at 343 play the previous games..
5.5/10 Halo 5
2/10 343 Industrys...
/Salty rant over
I appreciate the idea behind revives but god damn either makes things extremely easy when it works or the AI's fault when it doesn't. Maybe I need to do a full coop run through when I'm done to give it a fair shake.
Any of you guys want to schedule a legendary co-op run this weekend?
I'm up! That sounds fun. Though I doubt I'd be any good. Maybe with 4 players tho it won't be so brutal
The only part of the campaign I liked:
[sp]Linda standing in front of John to protect him from Cortana. Just a subtle little show of concern like that was really touching. Then I remembered how the entire game could have had these moments if Blue Team got the attention they deserved, and then I got sad/annoyed/frustrated etc.[/sp]

I'm only able to watch gameplay, but the revives in SP make the game look wayyy too easy, I remember getting hit by a sticky in H3 and going "Well, fuck." knowing full well I deserved it. But now I just watch this guy get stickied, thrown a few feet, and revived.
What the fuck did they do to the radar? It's significantly smaller. At this size if people aren't within what seems to be 10-15m of you, you have no idea of where they are or even which direction they're coming from. Maybe i've been playing battlefield or CS too much but at least a fucking directional indicator to locate an enemy outside of 10m would be useful, because right now the radar is pretty much useless with such a small radius

Used to be a lot bigger, but it was just too OP in the beta so they toned it down.
The narration in this game is SO shallow.
There are so many characters and subplots that they could have flushed out and made an epic story out of but they just totally skim over them. The entire campaign just feels like a rush.
usually if the multiplayer is better than the campaign mode it USUALLY means they focused more on the multiplayer than the actual story.
Is it me or does it all really make it feel like the advertising campaign was pretty much a complete and utter farce to hide the real twist? The duality trailers implying Chief vs. Locke with a burning Infinity and a ruined human colony, only for [sp]that entire little subplot to mean nothing in the long run compared to the actual late plot twists, and the Infinity especially never actually being driven into that state.[/sp]

And let's not get into how badly the "Halo 2-style perspective flip for the campaign" thing they were hyping up also got fucked

In short yes. The marketing made the game seem like it was a cool story...

I think it suffered a lot from being a "bridge" game, the 2nd in a trilogy. It was really short and suffered from the absence of some important elements of story and tension.
Also doesn't help that it's all about the Multiplayer these days and campaign barely gets any love.
Christ the elites are fucking tall when they stand up. They actually look ok when they're not assing around
So gutted about no split screen. The Halo series always stuck out to me because you could rely on it when having friends round as a good game to play with each other. Sucks being in a flat and sharing with others too. What's the point in consoles if nothing supports splitscreen anymore?
Being able to play games on your couch and have a generally larger screen? That's why I went back to consoles. Playing games at my desk for any more than two hours got uncomfortable.
Welp, just played and lost my first game of warzone. Everyone just stayed at the fucking spawn base except me and like 3 other people.
aside from gripes about the story i am loving the multiplayer to death
you actually feel like a super soldier, none of the weapons feel too under/overpowered, the new search-and-destroy-esque game mode is super fun and competitive with friends, and the maps all seem pretty good
the only issue i have so far is that there are a couple maps that look like theyre about 50% rendered
I love the ragdolls in MP. Some of the deaths just look goofy when someone goes flying and lands awkwardly with a loud chrunching noise.
How many people are playing online? I'm trying to gather a group for some arena or warzone if we gather enough.
I'm stuck at around 90% on the install, but I have off from after school tomorrow through Monday, so I'm going to be playing the entire campaign, and then probably dicking around in multiplayer for the remaining time.

i have been playing online. (though it's late here so i can play tomorrow though).
Anyone else getting errors about failing to set up dedicated servers?

It's got an 18m radius. It was 30 in the beta. They found that a lot of their map design was going to pot because of the huge ass radius. Go on the Halo Channel, there's a BTS or something about the changes they made.
I thought the campaign was good but pacing was completely off and the environments weren't incredibly varied.
Also, the floating point errors in the engine-based cutscenes made a somewhat emotional close up of Tanaka fucking hilarious because here eyeballs were wobbling all over the place.

The story is good. It's just 60% of it isn't in the fucking games.

I wish it was possible to view players in your Spartan Company. Was looking to play with people earlier but could only see actual friends. Warzone is probably the best thing about multiplayer but the REQ system can be somewhat imbalanced at times. My team had no REQs for some reason so we were stuck with Scorpions camping all the spawns at the bases but no one was capturing them. They just let the scorpions (and the odd Mantis) camp there until they won. Also, they need to sort out the Warden Eternal finish because I did an arseload of damage to him but one dickhead got the finishing shot with a magnum and his team won... It should be determined by damage percentage, not who get's the last shot on him.
I TK'd Delta with an amazing sticky throw off a wall.
I am not sorry.
I'm suddenly playing like shit, lol.
I've played a little bit of multiplayer but don't know what to think yet... first I have to get used to a new control scheme because they completely changed the one I've been using for the past five years
eat shit, 343 ;(
The control scheme always changes in Halo...
before you read my post know that I love the multiplayer and was willing to pay $60 for it
however
hahahahahahaha THAT CAMPAIGN
how can anybody defend 343's use of the Halo lore any more? Like holy shit after all those Hunt The Truth marketing campaigns, after all the ads, after all that Locke vs. Chief hype they built, THAT was what they gave us???? That was NOTHING like what they made it out to be from the trailers
Pathetic. Seriously.
I found a turret that breaks level geometry if you get it in and then get stickied. It's on the Swords of Sanghelios level near the hunter/wraith fight near the council door.
Here's a shite video of it!
I'm not the best at describing things.

Getting hit by any explosive can trigger it.
