If Halo 5 is still doing the whole 'store every asset in the map file' thing, then them cutting out arm and leg pieces was probably to save on memory space to add more Armour.
It is very possible they have gone the route of Halo Online and made the assets in one singular file based on their type (tags.dat, textures.dat, etc.). As far as I know, the whole "all assets in one .map file" system was done because of the way that the Xbox 360 and the original Xbox for 1/2 handled memory constraints (Xbox 360 had 512MB, and OG Xbox had 64MB I believe) and streaming off the disc. Halo Online has been the only Halo game to do it this way, but I'd wager a bet that MCC also does it because Saber was very heavily involved in the development of that game and probably took code from it to put into Halo Online. Because of the switch to x86, Blu-ray, and RAM amount/Storage space very on-par with modern PCs, they could now store all assets in this similar system. Storing the assets this way allows for very fast loading because a huge amount of the commonly used assets can be kept in RAM and also the tags can be setup to require only the other tags that it needs. The last build of Halo Online released could load maps in roughly 4 or 5 seconds on even slower hard drives because of it. Once you compare this to other 360/Original Halo games where the maps could take 30 seconds or more to load, it's an enormous improvement. I absolutely hate this system for modding, though. On 360, sharing a Halo mod was as easy as sharing the .map file. Halo Online makes sharing mods enormously complicated.
Speaking of Halo Online, has anything been heard about it (apart from Eldewrito's progress) since they shut it down?
So on my last Silver REQ pack I got a Rare emblem and 1500 RP. Does this means I'm done with Silvers, and now I move to Gold?

The link to the page, by the way, is http://vk.com/halo.online. Keep your eyes peeled for the latest HO news.

With leg armor like that, I can see why they called it Achilles

I think I like how that armor looks in comparison to everything else
This was probably mentioned before, but the way they handled armor color is kinda weird, imo. For a lack of a better description, it kinda looks like someone took a Spartan figurine and did a hasty paint job by painting almost the entire thing with the same color. I think it would have looked better if they had just kept the body suits black and just made the actual armor colorable, like what Bungie did in the previous games.
I did say it before, and it's literally sports armor. The gloss, the overly-showy designs, the bright and utterly saturated colors that stick out like a sore thumb; it's like if a football player was a walking death tank with a gun and sponsored unicorn armor. It makes sense for multiplayer at least given the way the whole thing is set up, right down to smack-talking dudebro Spartan talk. But it's so garish that any oldbies are usually turned away.
I haven't heard any of the dudebro smack talking in the retail game. They took all that out. It's just calls on enemies, compliments on kills, and weapon pickups.

Alright Facepunch Spartan company, lets get to work.
There are so many friends that I have that have never played Halo 1-3 because of them being xbox exclusives that it makes me want MC collection on PC so bad so we can do the campaigns. Would be such a blast.
8:07 It's weird seeing that bungie had made animations for turning on the flashlight in pre-release halo 1
I didn't know this about Isolation, but eventually, the top part of the map becomes flood-ified a bit. Doesn't stick around, though.
fuck Idk how he let me do that

Is it fine to talk about Halo Online here? Anybody plays it?
Is it fine to talk about Halo Online here? Anybody plays it?
All fine. We actually need more people playing it
I encountered a bug in Halo 3 I've never seen before, all the covenant tech textures failed to load. Phantoms, Fusion Cores, all the shiny purple stuff were all black and hurt my framerate. Even the 'Allied' Elite stuff didn't load.
The hammer moved back after every shot as well, Bungie added the same feature in the Halo 3 beta, but removed it on release.
I would've thought modders added that stuff back in by now. Unless, those features aren't in the game files.
They really seem to be straying into a different style.
Maybe a few years late with that assessment. woah flagdog why am I in the UK?
To be honest I never really saw the changes as a change in style, more of an increase in visual fidelity - stemming from the critisism of "oh look they made the forerunners all Tron like." Halo 1 had the glowy stuff, it just was just limited as fuck due to the hardware, sure we don't see the ruins anymore but that doesn't mean they changed anything. This ship design however, I'm not liking. [editline]12th March 2016[/editline] Also this pattern is getting overused to hell, it's in the armor and weapons already.
