Of all the random shit to bring up in all the plot being built up via Hunt for the Truth and the comics, [sp]AI independence from being forced into rampancy and resets/erasures as one giant morally gray zone is probably the most left field. Cortana's rampancy has been a source of debate since Halo 4, and arguably since Halo 3 in the more paranoid circles, but has ANYTHING been hinting at this?[/sp]

I don't think the story is too terrible (only at mission 7, plenty of time for me to be proven wrong), but I'm having trouble figuring out whether or not it's mediocre because H5 is a bridge story, or because 343 is taking a dive. What I'm really upset about is the whole "Hunt the Truth" and Chief vs. Locke marketing campaign. Not only did the reason the Chief was being hunted change [sp]first he "attacked" an embassy, now he's looking for Cortana[/sp], but so far the whole ONI conspiracy hasn't been mentioned at all. Was all that just so they could cover up the fact that [sp]Cortana is the villain[/sp]?

I'm not finished with the campaign yet but I really don't understand the hate? The story isn't amazing or anything but the missions themselves so far as really damn good, so is the level design. It's fun and works well. I really think the campaign hate is a pretty kneejerk reaction. Plays, looks, sounds, feels excellent. Then again I'm not the kind of person who invests so heavily into marketing hype and is a lore fiend enough to start in Halo 5's campaign already invested. The actual plot points are completely secondary to me. I like the Halo universe but the games have never had top tier stories. Halo 2 was famous for a shitty ending and not much happening beyond fleshing out the universe and establishing Arbiter as a character, Halo 3 had some pretty big plot holes. That said, in their defense it was nice having a story that backdropped with huge battles that felt like you were actually apart of and had a side on.

Do we have an FP company yet? Playing with randoms is frustrating, and all my friends from Halo 3 and Reach moved on.

I just [I]really[/I] like breakout with random players. Especially when they run down the middle of the map together and all die, leaving me as the last player standing with no idea what I should do.
