He's grasping onto a real-life technicality about the brain rendering the game unrealistic when these games are all about weird shit that invokes supernatural whatsitz that people are convinced involves souls that could easily work around said technicality.
Maybe he's just venting the frustration he must've felt with the early release date.
"the way the 4 moved in the trailer looks like it was in a bed so that must mean this is all fake"
fantastic video game theory

That had nothing to do with the theory.
I'd like to remind everyone we have matpat to thank for such lovely episodes like "is mario a communist" and "is snake a stoner"
Literally none of his click bait shit is worth listening to
eh I think his fnaf theories have so far been pretty solid but in general mat pat is pretty trash

i was under the impression is was pretty obvious that [sp]fnaf4 takes place before the bite and it was the kid having nightmares about the animatronics that scared him and the IV bag and stuff were just spooky premonitions[/sp]
see I would've been alright if he said something like [sp]it doesn't make sense in terms of the timeline[/sp] but instead he went rambling on about psychology and real world examples in a series with haunted ghost robots
also in a rush to "beat" scott he missed a very crucial detail which fixes everything but whatever you do you Dr. Games Theory
all the other fnaf game theories were atleast worth looking at but his fourth one was literally just saying it doesn't make sense
it's almost as if he decided after he released his third one he would not do another theory so instead of just ignoring the fourth game he's insisting it doesn't make sense and doesn't happen

This theory had nothing to do with the lore, as he said at the end of the video; that one is coming out later.
so why make it other than to be a smug ass
My 2 hopes for the movie:
Scott does phone guys voice
Ita rated at least M15+ because if its PG it will be awkward having to tiptoe around the gore; they have a chance to make this genuinely scary

So he's gone from just having flat out ridiculous/click-baity theories, to suggesting that he knows more than the videogame's developer, and whatever he says, is in fact, the true story, no matter what the canon story or dev says?
Mat-Pat just keeps on climbing higher and higher in quality.

Considering the entire fanbase is mostly children I would think it wont even reach PG 13

Game Theory is assuming that the Bite of '87 already happened, which the game isn't really presenting.

Except it would literally be impossible to make it PG-13, since FNAF deals with stuff that would prevent it from getting that rating.

I think the director has been answering tons of people's questions on Twitter about the movie. In one of his conversations, I believe he mentions he's going to make sure it appeals to fans of all ages. I guess you can take that as you will.

They managed to edit the fourth Die Hard film into a thing that got away with a PG-13, you know. And Star Wars Episode 3 featured the genocide of space monks, two characters being burned-alive and a third being decapitated, and got away with the same thing.
If they needed to make the film at the bare-bones minimum for under-18s to get in, I can imagine the filmmakers doing a thing where the Bite of 87 is only mentioned without details, any "stuff into a suit" deaths literately show only the eyes and teeth like in the first game, and any encounters showing minimal or no cases of blood, and they could get away with "kid friendly" horror. Though maybe I'm overestimating a studio's determination and knowledge of preteen fanboys of this series.

Here's some info on the movie the director mentioned on twitter compiled from /r/fnaf https://www.reddit.com/r/fivenightsatfreddys/comments/3f38up/i_listed_all_this_info_were_getting_about_the/
- Scott will be phone guy
- Scott is going to be involved a lot with the movie
- the bite will be included
- a new story/lore
- in canon universe
- more than one location
- toreador march
- possibility of new animatronics
- director is a big fan of the games apparently
I have some high hopes for this movie actually. Sounds like the director and Scott are seriously dedicated to this. Best case scenario it could bring some spicy sauce to the horror genre.
The way I see FNAF4 from what I've gathered so far, [sp]the game is post-Bite, and is 1987 or beyond. The events of the flashbacks do concur with 2, albeit the game doesn't quite force that. The TV saying 1983 is showing just how old the Fredbear franchise is presumably. Whether the Child dies or not in the Night 6 ending is ambiguous considering Phone Guy saying 'it's amazing how you can survive without the frontal lobe,' but then who knows? Whether this has haunting-involved stuff or not, it probably doesn't considering how tortured the kid is, and my bet is on the equivalent of a coma with dreams the equivalents of lethal night terrors.[/sp]
Also, that movie info is pretty cool, i'm not a horror movie kind of person but it definitely sounds like they're not just making a cheap cash-in.
Christ I just realized. One year ago there was a thread on facepunch where alot of us heard about Five Nights, and saw how it shook the horror genre of gaming, the sequels, and the huge fan base.
Here we are, almost exactly a year later, and we're gonna get a movie because this got very huge and famous.
In one fucking year.

Is it bad that I don't really want LORE, I just want a fun spooky movie?
I kind of just want a film adaptation of something like the first, truth be told. I mean I've got an open mind, but I feel like getting some some quality spooks and high quality animatronic monsters in a fairly simple story would work out best. I feel like they won't be able to fit all the old and new lore in a fashion that isn't either overly expository/wanky or unsatisfactory to both newcomers and people who've played the games, you know?
PG-13 for a movie where robots make a loudass shriek that can almost burst your eardrums before the unpleasant dismemberment? No thanks, I'd prefer keeping the minors away from their nightmare(s) along with the pre-schoolers, in case their idea is to show this in a movie theatre. AVGN: The Movie was never available at a cinema for all I know.

it could be something like an invesigation upon the fnaf3 location since it burned to the ground, and as detectives (or whoever) dig through all the information about what happened there before, it will be shown to us in form of some sort of flashbacks, maybe they will find relatives of the victims, let us hear their story, and most of the movie is just flashbacks, with just some final action in real time at the end. i feel like it would fit this movie perfectly, since the games timeline is sorta all over the place, fnaf2 is prequel, fnaf3 is sequel, fnaf4 is prequel again, you get the idea

The FNAF games were already creepy/scary without showing any real gore so that doesn't worry me about the movie.

I still genuinely remember how the first thread had us made fun of it in a good way but still think it was a creative idea when the first live streams appeared. I love how almost everyone posted how it was a disturbing game too.
As far as FNAF has come, i don't think a single jumpscare so far has matched the same feeling of helplessness and unevitability of the first time you experienced Foxy's jumpscare.
Just seeing him rushing down that hall, going against everything you had learned about this game so far, was one of the most terrifying experiences i've ever had

Seeing this gif now a year later still gives me the shivers

I would like him to return to the look of the first game. It seems like every game he just tries harder and harder to make them more scary.

exactly. its undestandable why they are "scary" in fnaf4 with it being a nightmare, but i think it adds a lot to the atmosphere of the game, when those things you are afraid of dont really look that frightening by themselfs, maybe disturbing, but not scary
