Just figured out an interesting similarity between the missing children and the animatronics supposedly haunted by them. Nothing to base theories on, but still.
The animatronics have 2 sets of 'teeth', right? So do young children, for a while. The deciduous teeth get pushed out of their hinges by the new, permanent ones.

Except the animatronics have two sets of teeth because one set is attached to the costume and the other set is attached to the metal endoskeleton inside each suit. There's no pushing teeth out involved unless a person, rather than an endoskeleton, is stuffed inside the suit.
I've never gotten why the robots have double sets of teeth, unless it's for backup reasons. Question though; why even give the [B]endoskeletons[/B] teeth, if only those of the animatronics should be visible?

The same reason why they all have uncanny valley stares, why any sane human being would think a creepy marionette with a white mask and no eyes would be perfect for handing prizes to children, or why a pizzeria with such a bad history could ever be re-opened without massive public outcry.
It's the spook factor. And it's a video game.
^Originally it was because of the "teeth pop out the front of the mask" thing. Seen with Chica in #1 in the East Hall, specifically.
But for some reason, it also got confused with the animatronic's endoskeleton teeth, which presumably actually move the mouth of the exoskeleton. They have teeth instead of a plate-like thing for creep factor, and all the animatronics were seen with endoskeleton teeth in #2.
However, the death screen for Bonnie in #1 doesn't show teeth, rather a plate-like structure that might be underneath the exoskeleton. Chica's screen seems to show inner teeth. It could just be an oversight, or we could justify this by saying that Bonnie's teeth were hidden while Chica's were not.
