Yeah but that's still just as unsavory. Instead of there being a looming threat, a man's guilt and hubris does him in.
The toy bots from Freddy's 2 did it best. As they weren't actually possessed, they were running their subroutines as designed. It's just that something happened that caused them to become malicious in executing their intended work. Something paved with good intentions going horribly wrong. However they weren't legitimately creepy in their appearance; Toy Bonnie seems to skateboard across the room and Toy Freddy is about as intimidating as tissue paper. Toy Chica removing her beak was unsettling, as was Mangle being torn apart and still coming for you.
So here's an insane theory: the latest Markiplier FNAF video has a very strange ending. It would appear as if he knows something we don't. I think Markiplier might be in on something that Scott is planning. If so, then that'd be a fucking genius viral campaign.
So what happened to Bonnie? As far as I've seen, he has no physical presence within the game, save for someone mini game appearances and the like. There's no Phantom Bonnie and he has no jumpscare from what I can tell.

Don't think that's the case. Mark likes to get creative like that sometimes, and he's done this sort of thing in previous videos before. He probably did it as tribute to the game or as a means of finality, considering it might be the last FNAF video he ever does.

Whilst it could be argued that this was merely created by Markiplier to create speculation, it was more likely added by request od Scott himself. Markiplier has worked along side Scott very closely, and was one of the youtubers to recieve an early access copy of the game. Additionally, it is highly unlikely that Markiplier spent the time animating this section and creating unique sound assets just to spook us.
So now that we have established that the easteregg is legit, what does it mean for the series? As we know, the lights in their eyes represent the trapped souls of the children within the suits. By bringing them back this could mean one of two things.
a) They were brought back, possibly by the laughing child who I will get back to soon, or
b) They chose to come back.
Let's talk about option A for a second. If they were brought back against their own will, who and why would do this? We hear a laughing child, whom I believe is the culprit. The so called "Puppet" remains an unsolved mystery, however it was touched on in the pregression to the good ending. In the buildup to the conclusion we see a child wearing a mask that resembles the face of the Puppet very closely, however, this child is grey. The only other grey children in the minigames are dead. The other grey children are also all wearing masks that resemble the suit they are trapped in. So, is there a child trapped in the Puppet? This is a point I feel is best left until further evidence is brought up on the matter, as it would very much feel like a stab in the dark to make more assumptions.
Now for option B. Why would they want to come back, after suffering years of torture in the suits? I believe the killer is still out there, and they are not yet finished enacting vengance. However, I believe the killer also died in the Springtrap suit, which could lead me to believe that there are two killers. Think about it. A man was arrested in connection with the murder of the children, however another man, who we know to be a killer, also died. If this so called suspect is guilty, and has got off scot free, it would be perfectly reasonable to assume the children are not finished. The only way to end it is for this mystery man to die, and the only way for that to happen is another game.
