Yeah, those options are dumb. My issue with turrets isn't that they're difficult to destroy, since it's not impossible to destroy them if you know the ins and outs of the game, it's more that they're not enjoyable to face, and they add basically nothing entertaining to the game. Wow, you just magdump a bullet hose for a minute straight and waste a good portion of your ammo doing so. That was really fun, and a very creative enemy design by Overkill, it definitely deserved to be on the hype train stretch goals, and it gives me a good indication of how good the next new enemy will be. No, fuck you too Overkill. Then you have the gall to tease us by having a feedback thread on the turret stickied for three months, present us with possible changes, and never update us or inform us on anything regarding the turret. Then it turns out there are still currently no plans to adjust the way turrets work, and here we are more than three months without any significant change to turrets except now we can highlight them (big whoop) and they actually move on Meltdown. They're not fun enemies to fight, and ignoring them altogether defeats the purpose of including them to be an obstruction; they may as well not even exist if that's our interaction with them.
You're bored of destroying it?did you read all the other comment?it was made to make the player take decision and try to find how to avoid it instead of shooting it like another cop
You're bored of destroying it?did you read all the other comment?it was made to make the player take decision and try to find how to avoid it instead of shooting it like another cop
Even as a concept that's meant to bring players together, it failed. It's very rare for anybody to bother to group up and assault it together because everybody has different ideas on how to deal with it. Some people are so content with ignoring it they won't bother attacking it, or they don't have the weapons for it. I've seen people bring ECMs explicitly for turrets, but never use them because it's ignored instead by the rest of the team.
No, don't worry, I've said multiple times before that SWAT vans could use a couple of tweaks, namely being removed from normal and hard difficulties so as to not overwhelm new players with too many new things at once and not stunlocking NPCs. They're fine as a whole past that, however.
To be honest I'm pretty okay with the SWAT van now that perks give us a significant edge. The only place where I'm not happy with it is watchdogs because it can just absolutely wreck the getaway car.
we're still missing a heister for the H-team
I've always said we need a German heister...

How is it turret's fault that your team doesn't want to cooperate and kill it within seconds?
You mean simply walking around them? Not always possible, eg I was doing GO Bank loud DW and one parked itself just next to the sewer grid, I was only able to open it because I got lucky with dodge. And slapping one in the middle of Four Stores was an awful idea, I'm half convinced it was done for the sake of shoehorning it as a big update.
Something like walking around them. In a situation like that I'd have one guy doing covering fire in between an asault wave and have everyone else run over and open up the thing. Then once the rest are in the sewer, they would get the turret's attention while the final guy ran over. Alternatively you can wait for the turret to overheat and flash a yellow laser. There's plenty of time to do things during that pause, certainly more than enough to get an entire team across the street. Though our team has been fucking around with ECM Feedback on Deathwish a lot. We found that 2x ammo and 2x medbags was enough for 90% of heists so we experimented with unorthodox deployables. For GO Bank once we just placed an ECM Feedback to cross the street. Half the assault was stunned, and the other half was destroyed by the turret. It was glorious.
I've always said we need a German heister...
Racist joke between hoxton and that guy incoming You know,an english and a german World war 2

It's not impossible but if you don't do it just right you're going to fail in the first few seconds. The escape car having such high priority is really dumb and is definitely a failing.
You wanna know my problem with Payday 2, and why I've started ragging on it so much? I'll fucking show you my big beef with Payday 2. I'll create an imgur album for you. I've disabled every piece of DLC the game has. THIS IS WHAT A NEWCOMER TO PAYDAY 2 IS FUCKING GREETED WITH BEHOLD YONDER ADVERTISMENT This is still missing advertising elsewhere in the game. There is still a cross-promotional character and several masks that would be locked to me and advertised until I bought Hotline Miami 2's deluxe edition, and Speedrunners. There's also an ad for the most recent DLC that plays every time you start the game, and dozens more mods and masks and shit that I can't take a picture of. This amount of DLC is not fucking acceptable. They're about to come out with their 26th piece of DLC. With all of the DLC on a 75 percent off sale, with things costing you literally less than a fucking dollar, the DLC altogether still costs 30 bucks because there's just that fucking much. It's more than the price of the actual fucking game, and on SALE costs about as much as some brand new full priced games, ON SALE. And that sale is already after an already existing permanent price reduction. Off sale where it spends the majority of the time, it costs well over 100 fucking dollars for it all. And we've got two years of more of this shit. Why end it in 2 years when you can just keep shoving out more and more and more DLC because the game is literally Overkill's cash cow and that's all they want out of it? A newcomer to this is not only going to find themselves advertised to at every turn with a huge portion of the game locked out to them until they pay up, they're going to have an impossible time playing because SWAT Vans will wreck their fucking shit because they haven't paid for the only weapons, ammo, and throwables that can take down the fucking things. With this much bullshit, yeah, what a surprise people aren't satisfied when they add a fucking throwing card. There are, count em, 4 pieces of cross promotional material in the game. None of them have anything to do with fucking Payday. Advertisements for movies, advertisements for musicians, advertisements to fucking whoever it seems. The only way, the ONLY way this would be acceptable is if 1.You cut out all crosspromotional material 2.You had developed all this shit as like three major expansion packs sold to you at a way more reasonable price 3.You removed any and all advertisement or indication that the DLC existed in the game except Steam store page stuff and online trailers 4.You removed DLC trailers from the game's intro 5.You took all the exclusive bullshit and make it non-exclusive giving it to the customers who DO deserve it solely because they pay for and play your shit and love you for it, not because they got lucky enough to be at some fucking event or be playing the game at the right time 6.If you shipped the game complete with every promised feature and left nothing 'in development' to be released at some future date, and either had them in the game at launch, in the first expansion pack (and you're toeing a fucking line there too), or gave up on them as features and altered your advertising 7.If the content delivered and sold to you wasn't full of fucking HOLES, like missing voice lines, and seven, if you didn't actually NEED any of it to either actually be able to perform well in the game (SWAT Vans) 8.You had done all this in the FIRST place instead of making your game a gradual cash cow for as long as you fucking can
i get that youre angry with dlc and shit but do you really gotta do that whole bold all caps shit
i get that youre angry with dlc and shit but do you really gotta do that whole bold all caps shit
Edited.
But that's a problem within a team. How is it turret's fault that your team doesn't want to cooperate and kill it within seconds?
It's still at fault because Overkill's intended player interaction with it is ambiguous. It doesn't naturally bring players to destroy it in a bulk of the heists it appears because everybody's idea with how to deal with it is scatterbrained, much like the concept as a whole. The team will most likely be divided between people who want to destroy it or ignore it, and getting people together for something they're personally ignoring very easily isn't a simple task, especially if you're not a host. The only time I've ever seen people group together to get rid of a SWAT van turret with combined effort is when it's on a heist where an interaction is nearly impossible to ignore, like Go Bank, where it's basically right outside the bank and able to shoot you at many angles near the vault, and even moreso if RNG hates you and puts the cage on the street, though, I've seen cases where there is a division even in this particular situation. It also wouldn't be the first time Overkill has something in the game that isn't used in an intended or predicted manner. Look at dead content like vantage points, which can't even be used for their intended purpose because the game doesn't allow it. Armor cases which are supposed to be used to give people who fail stealth a protective shield, but is made useless when there is an option to simply restart the heist. Even sniper rifles can fall into this category, as the most effective way to use them is not like a sniper rifle, though I'm not really complaining about this one since it's probably for the better.
Honestly I'm just happy they reworked crook. I don't know about you people but I can do Overkill difficulty heists with that deck now even with just the basic Fugitive skills. I don't even need Sneaky bastard. I didn't try but I can only imagine how powerful it would be with sneaky bastard and the other high tier fugitive skills. The idea of having a decent ammount of armor while having dodge as well was always so appealing to me and now is more viable than ever.
farewell http://strawpoll.me/5269357/r
OK, so where else was this posted if not here? Passed around to friends? Actually I should have included 'and do you need DLC items to do it'. Strawpoll's anonymity makes it a little off to trust the results at face value.

One thing I agree with is the egregious ammount of DLC packs. A lot of them ought to be bundled and get a big discount (Gage Weapon Packs, Heists, etc)
Despite all the game's issues, I'm most curious as to what the fuck is up with the third person animations. Coyote looks like a dude that could totally set up some good third person animations that would look good even with the insane desync, maybe even add new first and third person ones for 10-20 second long interactions like lockpicking, repairing the drill or whatever, but no. Is that even on the backburner?
I think we could protest against the dlc hell by just not buying the yakuza pack, but we will probably just a small number on the sales of the DLC [editline]21st August 2015[/editline]
Despite all the game's issues, I'm most curious as to what the fuck is up with the third person animations. I'm completely fine with all the DLCs, but I don't like OVK not fixing a lot of bugs and issues.
this is a very angry thread at the moment
I'm completely fine with all the DLCs, but I don't like OVK not fixing a lot of bugs and issues.
So you're fine with overkill priorizing another dlc over bugfixes?
Turret is bad. It's an interesting enemy but is used poorly, it's annoying for being a pain in the ass to take out and avoid it and at same time is forgetable because in some instances it's just a useless prop in the map
So you're fine with overkill priorizing another dlc over bugfixes?
Missed the point, I don't think that lots of DLCs is a bad thing, but OVK not fixing stuff is certanly not a good thing.

I can attack it, look at it and all that just fine, but if I miss the target on a mark or if I just reflex tag then I'm fucking done.
I'd rather small dlc packs than no content nobodies forcing you to pick up each and every pack, they're individually cheap and more than worth their value in comparison to shit people fork out for in games. Swat van maybe aside, you don't need them to have fun. if you don't have the spare change to pick up a pack you like, you probably have bigger concerns I can't afford anything game related right now and I really don't care I'm going to miss a dlc because I understand living within my means /2 cents
Missed the point, I don't think that lots of DLCs is a bad thing, but OVK not fixing stuff is certanly not a good thing.
So you still haven't got that if overkill aren't fixing bugs it's because they are priorizing DLCs?
So you still haven't got that if overkill aren't fixing bugs it's because they are priorizing DLCs?
because the people that usually bug fix and work with design are currently all busy modelling guns and animating characters right

papermartin u seem to complain way too much, its ok to not play the game
the guys animating new characters could be fixing animation errors and trying to make drum mags work the modelers could be working on things for upcoming heists or gasp.... free content
What's free content?I think I'm too young to know what this mean [editline]21st August 2015[/editline]
papermartin u seem to complain way too much, its ok to not play the game
I just can't get over the fact the game is still alive with the lack of free content and how overkill is litteraly a damn DLC factory
