You do realize that time is just average players. If we wanted to get a bunch of US (which is the highest demographic of Payday 2 players) people to get on the game they should've chosen a time where people weren't at work or school. Not even the East Coast is free atm.

Even though it's a bit of a stretch and we'll probably get just a dumb donut throwable, alternate/customizable suits would be amazing and it's one of the features that no one could be mad about imo, an armor overhaul would probably fit more into the rebalance.

I really like the Famas and Galil for DW, but they don't really fit into the optimal meta if that's what you're looking for.

I'm a bit late but the recoil is actually meant to compensate for the fact that the MG-42 deals like 130 damage per hit. It even pierces through shields, so all you have to do is aim carefully and make each big ass round count.
I do wish the LMGs in general got less recoil since they're definitely not that punchy in real life. A MG42 having that much recoil or whatever is alright since it's supposed to be a mounted gun, but actual light machineguns like the M249 or the RPK freaking out feels kinda out of place. Also kinda sad that the mod doesn't fix their awful ammo pick up, but I do understand it's done for balance reasons, so it's ok.

Have fun as much as you can, learn by experience how the game works, avoid if possible guides or the wiki. Trust me, most of the fun comes when you are new in the game. Start with the easy heist like Four Stores or Jewelry Store.
A little side note when playing with pubs, either you will find a horrible host or you will find a cheater. If you are having a hard time playing with pubs there the Facepunch group for Payday 2 linked in the OP or just ask here to be added.

The MG42 has good hipfire (compared to other LMGs). The abysmal vertical recoil only comes into play when you're aiming.
I made ammo pickup based on caliber, so guns that share ammo share the same pickup rate i.e. the CAR-4 has the same pickup as the AMCAR, at 1 to 4 rounds.
That said, individually round loaded weapons have a higher pickup rate than magazine fed weapons (shoving rounds straight into the gun vs. putting them into mags first) and magazine fed weapons have a higher pickup rate than belt fed weapons (putting rounds into mags first vs. putting them in a belt).
