Wow. That honestly came out of left field. Hopefully he still makes more heisting tracks, with all the ups and downs the game has had, Simon's music has always been the best part of any update. Like, whether you like the new content or not, you could still dig the kick ass new track.
On the other side, this means that for a (probably low) amount of money you can have your own Bain quotes for videos and whatnot.
Or no bain at all. Imagine if payday 2 end on something like the cops finding out about crimenet and hack it, bain has to leave to not get captured and payday 3 is about heisters having to plan the heists and get their material themselve, stuff like that.
One thing I've always thought would be cool for PD3 would be to have the current "core" crew (Dallas, Hox, Wolf, Chains, Dallas Junior) fill in for Bain depending on the type or location of the heist.
This would also allow OVK to introduce new heisters more or less willy-nilly without pushing the classic crew off to the sidelines, since even in PDTH you hear the invisible voice in your heister's head far more than their actual voice anyway.

RIP guys the thermal drill go get it
This really pisses me off, his music is irreplaceable.
I don't know, I'd personally love to see what somebody else could do with the soundtrack.
I mean, shit, some of the tracks in first game weren't just made by Viklund.
jokes aside, i wont listen to anymore ne payday soundtracks after this day, just old ones,

this one was scrapped, even though it was still great, simon didnt like it, can you see? he makes something he didnt like but is still great.
alesso will fill in for him don't worry
Why is everyone acting like he is not working with OVK ever again? He clearly states he is open to Starbreeze to make more Bain lines and Music, just he wanted to be a more "mercenary for hire" sort of guy. Which is honestly great, I hope he makes music for other games, or maybe even movie trailers. The Death Wish song is really cinematic. But good luck to him, however it ends.

tbh i didnt like the alesso payday soundtrack at all, it was meh, only good part was preparation (after each assault)

That's the joke
It's gonna be real weird to listen to something that isn't by Viklund if they hire someone else to do some music.
I highly doubt that's going to happen, it sounds to me like the main reason he left is to make it easier for him to do freelance work. He's made it clear that if they need him he'll step in, he's just not officially an employee of Overkill now so he's able to do stuff on his own or for others. At most this is going to mean auditory related updates may take more time since he'll be busier.
This is really heartbreaking, another big part of what is Payday has been lost. Well, hopefully we will see him still making music and using his voice when needed, like it says in the post.

It's almost as if you and I read a completely different announcement than everyone else. I really don't see anything wrong with this.
so wait who will voice bain in future updates
me
Overkill apologized for not letting me voice the asian heister so instead they're replacing Bain with a new character named Tayne
He said fall, so I'm assuming its safe to say that the VA update hasn't been canned by this.

Which was the actual plan in Alpha.
I mean, Dallas was one of the contractors for some time in that period. And there was some steps into having a completely new Dallas, while old was guiding the whole crew.
This can be false, obviously, as this is based on incomplete bits of data, but still...

I wasn't thinking exactly this, I meant no contact anymore and the player planning and preparing their heists themselves, wich can be a good transition to open world (and a new engine). An exception for some special heists you do more or less in an order, wich are story based and given by contractors.

here hoping for some Dragan's voice recording.
I mean come on we had Dallas,Hoxton, Sokol and Houston up until now. At this point anything is possible.
Shame we didn't get to see Giancarlo Esposito's recording.

It's Mod_overrides causing the crash
Anyone know an easy way to determine which file might be causing the crash that doesn't involve tediously dragging out files one by one
I would be open to the idea of replacing Bain in the future, and some new music. Bane I feel like is getting to a bit of a Mary Sue level. He felt a lot more believable in the first game as some anonymous guy sat in a room or some shit who supposedly had contacts but could be anything from a businessman to a random office worker to some stoner or something. In Payday 2 he's the ~most rich and resourceful bearded enigma nobody knows anything about me I lie about everything except I like blue ooh so mysterious~ and he also never shuts his fucking mouth, as many people have complained.
I don't hate Bain, but Simon Viklund is a bit too much of a go-to for Payday. Many of the voice problems in comparison from the first game to the second come from Viklund being used for every single thing. Rather than go out of their way to get Simon Kerr and the rest of the gang's VA's to do some VA, they just get Viklund to do it. He says every objective, even unplanned ones. If a heister sees something, Bain is the one who comments on it, not the heister, and so on.
Since Simon is now sort of on a similar level to the rest of the gang, having to be contacted to do voice work, maybe this means Overkill will be pushed to make everyone interact more. Or they'll just keep hiring Viklund over and over and nothing will change.
But you still can't deny that him voicing the Cloaker was one of the best decisions they made. I love how he delivered the lines and how mean spirited and cocky he sounds. Hell he is one of the reasons why I am never mad at a Cloaker even when they drop kick me in-game.
Also I don't get how most people find Bain's voice annoying. Sure he does talk a lot but some of the remarks he say are actually pretty funny. Like that one dialogue on GO:Bank between him the heli pilot.
Really looking forward to Simon's Future projects. Hopefully in some blockbuster action movie or even another video game.

Not to be whiny, but I can barely tell what the cloaker is even saying, worse than any other unit. He's usually right up in your face so you do hear the voice lines, but the filter makes it sound like they're in a washing machine and often I can only make out part of what he said, after he said it. It's like he's got a daffy duck lisp but on almost every letter.
I don't mind Bain's voice so much, not for the same reason other people do. I do mind when he never stops repeating the same thing (my biggest hated one is HAVE YOU FOUND THE TIARA YET), what bothers me is that Bain talks for almost everything. The heisters can't get a word in while he's calling out things THEY'RE seeing and doing instead of them. You can just feel it when you do something, and you just know he's going to start yapping about it instead of the character you're playing as. That's what really gets on my nerves.
