Not to be whiny, but I can barely tell what the cloaker is even saying, worse than any other unit. He's usually right up in your face so you do hear the voice lines, but the filter makes it sound like they're in a washing machine and often I can only make out part of what he said, after he said it. It's like he's got a daffy duck lisp but on almost every letter.
I don't mind Bain's voice so much, not for the same reason other people do. I do mind when he never stops repeating the same thing (my biggest hated one is HAVE YOU FOUND THE TIARA YET), what bothers me is that Bain talks for almost everything. The heisters can't get a word in while he's calling out things THEY'RE seeing and doing instead of them. You can just feel it when you do something, and you just know he's going to start yapping about it instead of the character you're playing as. That's what really gets on my nerves.
If I'm not mistaken, he didn't even voice that "Have you found the tiara yet" line. But that's a problem with how the game is scripted, he says it every 30 seconds.

He did as far as I'm aware, however, the filter changed through development and those lines got left in, hence the juxtaposition.
I don't blame Simon for voicing Bain as he constantly talks about the objectives and everything, that's only natural. I love Simon's work as Bain. Also I didn't know he voiced the cloaker; I love the cloaker's taunt lines.
With the many heisters we have now and the often newly released heists, they'd have to be recording a shitton of lines from every separate heister every new DLC just so the gang can comment on heist specific objectives. That's a huge job already (let's not forget we're already missing lines for each heister). They probably just opted to make Bain do all the talking since it would save a lot of time and money, he's on studio and can record as necessary. Even now they're probably still going to opt to make him do all the talking because it's just way simpler that way.
Sure, I would really like it if it was like in Payday 1 where they interacted a lot more, but Payday 2 has a lot of content and is still churning out more content, so I don't blame them for taking the short route. We'd probably get a bunch of delayed DLC if they'd choose to have each VA record necessary lines for each heist, let's not forget every VA isn't readily available.
They should just have the contractors talk during heists, like with Vlad in meltdown. It's cool, makes me hate Bain less, and would alleviate the problem of Bain constantly talking without having to record heist-specific dialogue for every new character.

Yeah, first time I played Meltdown I loved it when Bain went into conversation with Vlad. I still love those bits of dialogue.

Cool to hear that, but jeez that Periscope is the worst video program. You can't stop or scroll the video and after a few seconds everything looks like this:

I'm iffy on Bain too. Back then, he was a background character meant to fill the gap between you as a robber and your partner robberymen, and it worked really well. In PD2 it's like he's trying to be literally all of the 4 guys at the same time and it gets tiring.
Why didn't Hoxton say anything about Hector being the rat? What's up with Houston not reacting at all to being yelled at by burny british chap? How come everyone's kinda lame and quiet?
I do like Simon's voice directing though, it is pretty indispensable. It's made those extremely rare times when one of the heisters actually talk very interesting and fun to listen to. Not to mention his soundtrack kind of makes shooting things about ten times more enjoyable.
This is good timing to mostly replace Bain with the heisters own talk

It'd be nice. Anyone else feel like Bain was pretty much becoming the face of Payday, even in comparison to Dallas?
Dallas was supposed to be the mastermind leader of the crew but aside from trailers in game he's just the same as anyone else, drones being told what to do by Bain. The line between 'character' and 'player avatar' has seriously been blurred hardcore. They might as well just have a 'create-a-heister' where you make your own fuckin' character and pick from a few voices Saint's Row style, nothing would be different.

The name issue wouldn't matter either, There are like 5 characters who don't have their name called out by anyone
I would describe the heisters as feeling like the second player in games like Fable
utterly inconsequential, virtually unacknowledged, they have no weight to anything and can be dropped out at a moment's notice in a way that changes absolutely nothing
When they fix it it could just be something like "new kid follow me"
Or "rookie cmon" or something
I've actually been thinking about it and I think it would help the series to pull a sort of restart button by having the next game feature new heisters in a new setting possibly lead by someone completely different. I mean it honestly doesn't make sense why the heisters do what they do anymore when they've stolen enough money to be set for life several times over, and that's not even having to live modestly. Assuming all heists short of No Mercy are canon, they've canonically stolen enough money to walk away with hundreds of millions each in the bank. I know there are things like the Pink Panthers in real life that continue to operate, but that's a huge huge group with possibly hundreds of members or at least 60. The Payday Gang is just 4 (well 11 or something now but you get the idea) guys and Bain, which means more money per person, which means less reason to continue. In fact, the FBI raids where they cleared out most if not all evidence on their identities means they don't even have to worry about getting caught if they stop. So unless the Payday gang is robbing literally just for the sake of it, maybe it's appropriate that they retire?

Yeah, I thought about that too. From the last couple of streams Simon has shown, it's clear they're getting some generic lines in so as to not have to pull the guys in constantly. Why not include some for characters too? There's lots of words you could use as a generic term for some random dude to tide people over until the VAs record the individual name calls.

It's been explicitly stated they're basically in it for the action. You can even hear Bain allude to that when you complete a heist in the first game. The Payday gang is basically just a syndicate of psychopaths who get their jollies by stealing millions in cash, and causing as much havoc as possible while doing it, what they actually do with the cash seems to be irrelevant. They could have stopped with just First World Bank, but scores are what they're really after.

I've never seen this before, where is this said?
Payday 3 with the contractors being the original PAYDAY crew. You could have them operating in different areas of the world, like Houston and Dallas could be giving contracts that take place in America, Hoxton could give contracts in Europe and etc. Would be cool to see the next game have some more globe trotting in it.

"Great work, you're set for life! But maybe you want another hit just for the action, huh? See you at the safehouse, I'll show you the plans!"
In the first game only (and in the second with CANARY)
I've never seen this before, where is this said?
Sometimes at the end of a successful heist in PDTH Bain will say: "Well done guys, we're set for life! But uh maybe you wanna do another hit just for the action huh? See you at the safehouse, I'll show you the plans."
There is a specific line of dialogue referencing the film "Heat" where Bain will say "Well done guys, we're set for life! But I know the action is the juice for some of you, so I got more heists for you to sink your teeth into. See you at the safehouse."
Specifically in PD2, most if not all the bots will say something about them preferring the action, but this could be seen just as an excuse for the bots to do nothing during stealth.
Does anyone know who this is? I'm sure it's a custom portrait for one of the PD:TH HUD's creators, just curious who.

It's Mod_overrides causing the crash
Anyone know an easy way to determine which file might be causing the crash that doesn't involve tediously dragging out files one by one
Nobody?

I haven't touched pdmods ever since Mod_overrides existed and has been an option
I've been thinking about something.
If Simon Viklund legitimately thinks doing music for Payday 2 is boring, why doesn't he branch out a little bit more? He got permission to run The Flames of Love and Hotline Miami just fine despite it being way out of Payday's musical theme range. Not every theme, no matter how good they get, has to be a Backstab or a Searchlights. Even Ho Ho Ho, Shoutout and Kicking Ass and Taking Names were kind of non-Paydayish.
I'm sure he could find ways to keep the guns running while staying at OVK if he looked a little harder, but I guess he just wants to go full freelance.
One of my friends can't join anyone elses game. They've apparently opened all ports and still can't join anyone else.
I remember I had the same problem ages ago but I can't remember how I fixed it
hello people of the past, i'm from the future to bring you the latest payday 2 news
with 15 more sets of dlc to come out in the next few weeks, they're introducing colour packs for your personal heister
you can choose from a large variety of colours, this only includes maroon, dark blue, and black
each gun can hold up to 20 different mods and they are all stackable now
death wish has been now been removed and what we knew as overkill is the new death wish as people complained that there was no reason for easy as a difficulty choice
they're also introducing a gang system where you can make a ''gang'' which means that you get special bonuses!!!!
this only includes faster fire rate though
there are a few new heists included in the next few dlc packs as well
such as ''russian job'' where you help blad (not vlad, he's new) steal a ring (not crown, it's new) for his husband (not wife, blad's gay).
there's also a heist where you get to rob the big bank if there was no security available, this was because people kept complaining about a slow leveling up system now as infamy has hit the 200's
also there's a car racing minigame since people started fucking around with the forklifts instead of actually playing
hopefully they'll throw in some more car dlc as well, hoping to get that sweet bugatti veyron dlc pack as it includes one of the new characters, driver
he's from japan and he has a new perk deck called speeder which increases his movement speed and fire rate based on how modded his weapons are
thank you and hope you all enjoy payday 2
