it beats the hell out of me on what Overkill is planning for this enemy to be. And at the same time it scares me. Like they are gonna add something stupid like a War tank or a Helicopter that firebombs everything. Here praying that the new enemy is human and it manages to be creative as well. Don't dissapoint me now Overkill.
There's nothing that kills hype faster than the entity wanting hype to be generated telling you to be hyped.
I'm still riding on the idea of a Spitter-esque Grenadier enemy who can flush players out of cover by launching HE grenades while denying certain areas with gas grenades. Would be interesting to see how certain heists like HM would go out with those buggers on the field.
A community member (one of those clan dudes ifc) who has talked to Simon on several occasions, has said that the new enemy will be kind of sound based.
I always thought it would be some kind of flamethrower guy for some reason, or something that deal damage over time.
by the way speaking of pyros, ive been browsing the game texture files recently and noticed this weird gas mask thing? no its not the gas mask from BBQ, no its not the methlab hazmat civs (they have their own .df_texture) i have never seen this before, anybody? (top right) [t]http://i.imgur.com/13hRs3V.jpg?1[/t] im i late or something? EDIT: it seems this has been in the game files for GOD-KNOWS how long, probably a beta texture or alpha.
Honestly, I don't expect the GenSec enemy to be anything more than a common version of what the commissar and traitor are. Just a beefed up normal enemy with a ton of health, much like a Bulldozer, except without the armor. And Overkill has shown in the past they're stupid with damage numbers, so I fully expect it to snipe you from half-way across the map even if it's not the above, and somebody at Overkill will have given the greenlight in believing that to be fair. My interest in Payday 2 has finally waned, but it might also be because I'm preoccupied with another game for who knows how long.
My interest in Payday 2 has finally waned, but it might also be because I'm preoccupied with another game for who knows how long.
Same. But then again Overkill isn't doing a very good job in keeping our interests up. Like I said before there really isn't anything else to do unless you just started playing the game. It amazes me how people who are infamy 25 actually managed to keep their interests up with so little heists and things to try out back in the day.

There was even a separate gas mask texture lying around that was removed later (though it's pretty much the same as the top right)
Can we get a HK33 or HK53 in the game. It would be cool to finish the HK family.
I wonder why overkill is still not doing any crossover with KF2 maybe a new heist for halloween?
Maybe Tripwire doesn't want to.
on one hand i know i wouldnt want to if i were tripwire but on the other i cant see tw making any more content than they are, considering how long it takes them to make and animate one weapon or change some numbers for a perk
Didn't someone already port a Dallas model into the game just fine? That'd work as a crossover for me if the Dallas model got a bit higher poly and that's it.
This week in Payday 2, The Fury makes an appearance.
Having a heist where you steal a tank would be awesome. It could be a good opportunity to do the driving escape everyone wants and actually use the vehicles for gunfighting.
Honestly I'm not keen on the idea of drivable escapes. It's already painful enough one somebody gets one shotted by a sniper on meltdown and you're already 20+ meters away before you can reverse. Then you have to revive them with no cover what so ever, because it's not like there needs to be anything at all to hide behind in a driving section that you can get shot in. Plus unless the vehicle can hold more bags than the long fellow, you'd have to make several trips to get all the loot out. Eh.

Eh.
It probably wouldn't work out all that well, but it just feels to me like they clearly put vehicles in the game for the purposes of driving escapes and gave you the ability to shoot out of them for fighting back while you go. I'd like to see them at least try rather than let vehicles just become another concept abandoned after about five minutes of content was built around it (like multi day heists and the safehouse).
i hope they dont bring back safehouse nightmare again with reskinned dozer, its boring, we want something else, maybe that mansion party heist in the night idea ,which someone was speaking about in this forum, or robbing a haunted bank, which is being haunted by its former dead manager, or a different heist, technically not a heist, it starts with the crew having already stole the money and theyre on their van escaping, but the cops shoot the van tires, the driver loses control and the van falls off a cliff and crashes into a dark foggy forest with no light in the night, because of the weather they lose connection to bain, so all they hear is radio statis and cryptic messages, the crew must fight their way back to the safehouse with the loot during a foggy weather and will encounter multiple hallucinations of ghost cops, like flying cloakers, sprinting dozers, etc, just a personal idea of mine.
flying cloakers
NOW that's a nightmare [editline]19th September 2015[/editline] So when are we stealing an handheld railgun
I wish I could look forward to the new enemy and FBI files, but I fear with overkill it'll be bad (SWAT Turret)
The hate over the swat turret is strong Maybe some maps have too much of them but it's not really a big deal
considering the new unit has been in the works for literally a year i'd be pretty shocked if it was executed poorly
See I thought that was the point. Work as a team to move past it instead of outright killing it, though killing it is a possibility if you waste tremendous amounts of resources. One person distracts, the others attacks or flee. Like in other, real coop games.
Also "avoid it" is a strategy with no other enemy. I guess the closest thing would be Dozers which you can potentially outrun since they're slow?? but otherwise: - You're getting tazed > shoot the taser - Hear/see incoming cloaker > shoot the cloaker - Snipers outside > shoot the snipers - Shields blocking the way > blow up/snipe/burn/circle around at shoot them - Giant gun that fires 1000 rounds/minute shooting at you > run away from it and ignore that half of the map One of these things is not like the other...

Hey if the update is good, we'll have a revitalized community until Crimefest, which is guaranteed to bring back some life. If the enemy is poorly executed, I'm sure we'll see meta strategies for killing it quickly, or mods to remove it like we saw with the Swat Turrets. At this point it's all just one big "well, it is what it is" when it comes to updates.
I hope that PD3 in 2018 or whatever is like significantly less fucky. Having to always lean towards "I'm gonna be dissappointed" side about the content a company releases when they have 26 paid DLCs and counting is seriously shit. I love the fuck out of this game, but god damn, this is ridiculous.
I'm going to be an optimist. Maybe they'll push out some updates for the turret alongside the new enemy and the FBI Files? I mean, a lot of pretty okay changes were proposed by Overkill_July's and yet only one has been accomplished (you can mark it. Yay?) And if all ells fails, maybe the files, whatever they are, will save the update?
literal anti-hype, gg ovk
thats the school of design the turret follows, sure its difficult to kill, sure its a new enemy, but its not fun to fight and people are more likely to find a way around it rather than work to kill it
have you tried to not kill it?
no we want a game where shit is balanced there needs to be alternate ways to destroy it, i.e. planting c4 on the back of the vehicle, or destroying the van in general
so because it is an enemy you SHOULD be able to kill it?
