Don't synchronize the module, that doesn't actually assign it. Name the unit whose slot should have control and put his name into the Zeus module's fields.
How do I people feel about no respawn missions? Considering doing more of them.
How do I people feel about no respawn missions? Considering doing more of them.
Depends, if it's supposed to be longer than ~30 - 45min, then Respawn or Wave respawn would be great.
If it's a short mission, then no-Respawn would make sense.
How do I people feel about no respawn missions? Considering doing more of them.
It would be fine as long as you have a ~100-400 bleedout when KO'ed
How do I people feel about no respawn missions? Considering doing more of them.
I prefer the system where everyone respawns once an objective has been completed.
Basically makes you wanting to stay alive, but you don't miss the whole mission because of a single mistake.
Also pls no more instadeath
What's so wrong with instadeath? If I was shot with a HE tank round I'd expect to die.
Because human beings IRL can either take a pounding from everything or slip on a banana peal and instantly disintegrate upon contact with concrete. It kinda makes sense that we're capable of cheating death in otherwise crazy bullshit situations.
What's so wrong with instadeath? If I was shot with a HE tank round I'd expect to die.
It's not just that. If someone gets arma'd like one of the following reasons:
* Accidentally get run over by friendlies
* Accidentally get stuck in wall in building and fall to your death (rotation axis issue)
* Accidentally get stuck in object and receive unusual amounts of damage (rotation axis issue)
* Friendlies forgetting about backblast, and potentially transferring their entire squad into spectator mode
There's also the fact that it makes medics useless 75% of the time, since everyone just instantly dies from almost anything.
Sure it's more realistic, but having to spectate a long session just because you got accidentally run over or glitched out at the beginning of the mission is bullshit.
*) fly 100m up into the air on mission start like dr.fragg did
what, they still haven't fixed that thing where you rotate centred around your gun???
[editline]9th October 2015[/editline]
also do the DLCs ever go on sale?
if instadeath could be modified so it's only happens when shot in the face / right next to an explosion it might be okay, but being clipped by a piece of shrapnel from the colony battles over at epsilon eridanus ten light years away is pretty frustrating
*) fly 100m up into the air on mission start like dr.fragg did
God called out to me.
But yeah there's ample examples in nearly every single op to date of outright bullshit deaths, friendly fire, people merging into a bin so on and so forth so I'm not really seeing any major advantage to insta-death bar making it a bit more realistic. People would still be just as afraid of death due to whatever respawn restrictions are in place and it's not like we've opted for absolute realism in other areas.

Pretty much this. I also think ace wants to do it so, but it's simply bugged.

I believe there's a fix for the rotation issue on the dev branch, if I recall correctly. As for the way your character rotates? I assume you would get dizzy with the whole eyeball cam if you weren't rotating the way you currently are.

Yeah they just added it to dev branch.

The others you listed are reasonable but You can't blame insta death for downright incompetence.

I don't think we had a single time where we had some sort of convoy, where someone didn't get run over.
Still. It's a shitty feeling for dying and having to spectate/quit because of a retarded mistake from another person.
Isn't it possible to have a system where an admin is able to trigger respawns of a specific player? So then if someone gets killed because of Arma or because of someone else's fault, they get a respawn, but if it was their own fault, they don't get shit.

This will turn into drama fast.
Who is going to judge which person is eligible for respawn and who is not?
Should someone be respawned because of Teamkills?
Should someone be respawned because of Aimbot AI?
Should someone be respawned because of Glitches
Should someone be respawned because They jumped out of their heli?
Should someone be respawned because they don't want to spectate for the rest of the game?
Where do we cross the line?
Then there's also the fact that these respawns might be carried out inconsistently and some might be respawned for something, while others who had the same issue don't get respawned.
There's also the fact that some mission makers have different opinions on when a player should be respawned, or does it based on their own judgement.
There would be a lot of bitching about people requesting to be respawned because they got killed by <insert unfair thing here>. There also might people who just start to make up a sob story in order to get a respawn to play again.

I mean it's pretty clear what is an what isn't being Arma'd. If you walk into some object and you die, that's arma. If you're driving a car and because of lag you explode, that's Arma. Anything that was just you doing normal things and it caused you to die should be valid for a respawn. Friendly fire should alsobe good for a respawn.

Everyone's opinion on what should be a reason to allow respawns for is very different. Just look at Sports for example. Referee's get shit on for pretty much anything they do, any anyone else think they know it better, despite the rules of the game being pretty clear. What makes you think this will work out perfectly?
There's also the thing that the Gamemaster can't look everywhere, and can't really confirm if the death the dude complains in chat about is legit or he just made it up.
TBH, I'd not implement this in my missions at all in order to avoid it being turned into a bigger dramafest than some OP's already are.
The others you listed are reasonable but You can't blame insta death for downright incompetence.
Fam I swear down that MBT LAW was soft launch smh tbh
Also people run jn front of cars a lot in game I dread to think what some of you do to cross the road outside of arma.
Funny actually, I was trying to implement the ACE SwitchUnits module into spectators but I was having some issues with it, cause that would honestly ease up the 'being dead' issue. Gives a mission a lite-PvP vibe but I guess it could spark problems with being able to wipe out the entire squad by casually strolling up to folk with an RPG.
[editline]9th October 2015[/editline]
In my opinion, death with no respawn is the harsh lesson. If dying meant "oh shit X just died, ah well he'll respawn in 3 mins", it would certainly change dying from a permanent loss to a slight hindrance, which honestly just ruins some aspects of how the game plays.
Sure it sucks shit, but shouldn't it determine you to not dog your teammates over and try to be more careful?
There was this one Mission years ago what Tinter made, we were AAF and we had to bounce on some fools in some city in southern altis but we could only do that when one squad took the nearby power plant and turned off the power, then one squad could fire their AA at the patrolling Kajman and destroy it move in and wreck the radar when the power plant squad got back.
We failed often but it was fun because we were all up into the atmosphere and squeaking up on a mound to AA some helicopter as the rain came down was superb.
I think that because we're many, we can't replicate anything like that with instant death because when you go down in a teen sized game you don't have to wait long, but going down early in 30 sized game is really disheartening.

There's no performance difference from Windows 8 -> Windows 10.
Not better and not worse.
