Geez, get it together FPDrama.
My point is, almost every single mod is a copy of something that already exists, and is either a reskin, or a slightly tweaked model. Every community for the most part is exactly the same. To me, the entire community appears to be completely stagnant.
If this is an actual problem you feel strongly about, you should do something other than sit around being acerbic on forums about. No seriously, I hate this defeatist attitude that gets thrown around outside the modding dev sphere, where people imagine that new content just shits itself out of thin air, and if it's not fucking raining gold star brand new hot shit all day the community is dying. For me, as a creator solely focused on doing only new content this entire year, I can tell you that for reals content does not just shit out of thin-air. Special cases excepted I get about one new asset done myself every month and a half doing about 3 to 5 hours a day every working day during that period(packs, releases with variations take extra %ages extra on how much complete duplication is neccesary per object). Now granted , that's because I'm a REAL stickler for detail and I do like 90% of my own grunt work - Scripting, meshes, textures, materials, animations,sounds- in-house(arguably I could get overall time down if I had either more time spent per day or someone taking a cut to help, but the rough man hours still works out the same in the end). And I only have been doing small arms to this point, vehicles are monolithically more complex to build for just on the game engine side alone. This shit takes time. We're at the 2 year point now in Arma's release cycle and we're still at the point where we're still leaning on ported content by and large because new content takes a fuckload of time. If RHS were to do ALL it's vehicles from scratch starting at A3's launch day, you wouldn't have it until Arma 4's Expansion comes out. Side-note: The majority of the reason why you see so much duplication and reusal of assets by addon makers, especially all the efforts to port and built of Arma 2, is because the stuff they're doing doesn't in the base game in any acceptable form and there's cray demand for it. Milsim groups gotta have their M4A1s,ACOGs, DBALs, HMMWVs and Abrams, because the eras that most of those groups is current day-to-early-00's US military, and none of the stock Arma 3 gear in any way looks like that stuff(with the exception of the M-ATV/Hunter). You already knew this, I'm just saying to highlight why there's a dearth of content that doesn't fit with that context.
CUP vehicles is the lowest form of halfassary. Literally just ported Arma 2 shit that took them 2 years to move over. When most people had Arma 2 shit ported over already, it was just spread out among the community, and CUP has a few extra things.
I like when people do this whole RHS vs CUP duration-since-product- launch comparison because it ALWAYS fails to factor important things like project scope, team size and actual development period. RHS has been part of Arma modded content since Arma 1, has a larger team, with a defined scope, and(specifically, Escalation, the A3 iteration) technically has been in development since before Arma3's commercial launch. Not only that, but it has had at least a good portion of the ported material it uses ready to go for ages (thanks to the aformentioned previous releases with previous versions of Arma) CUP started because, quite frankly, the number of smaller mods doing A2 ports post the source availability (months after launch) was leading to an unstandardised mess. It's not been around as long, it's got a MUCH larger scope (incorporation and improvements to the AiA TP amongst things that bloat that), and it's got a significantly smaller team. I mean, there IS disparity between the two in terms of end results of polish, but CUP is consistent across the board in the application of it, which is honestly a credit all things considered about the project. I may not personally use CUP because I'm elitist jagoff with standards that no other modder can meet, but I wouldnever in a million years suggest the CUP devs half-ass it.
1, I threw the CUP/Ace compat files in ACE directory, and checked cup for optional files. Did not work, game refused to start on the grounds it needed CUP/ACE compatibility patch for the weapons, units, and vehicles. So, unless you have the compatibility patch that I was not provided by ace, or cup it does not exist, and you're wrong.
CUPs ace compatability is bugged afaik and theres a patch coming. Do u think they just put that ace compat pbo there to fuck with you??
http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=27652 LITERAL CUP BEFORE CUP
Also, this is made by Massi. This mod is very broken, sitting in some vehicles has the interior missing and having looked at his work before, he manages to export his models in a way that breaks them. Gee wizz, TWO event signups in advance? Feels like Christmas.
Gee, Bill! How come your mom lets you have two operations?
so since we're throwing out RHS, the question rised if we should keep TFAR or use ACRE at the same time (good time to switch, mission will be uncompatible anyway) Please vote http://strawpoll.me/5864353

Those often look pretty bad, and when we decide to play as a different faction then finding a fitting backpack can be a real hassle. [editline]29th October 2015[/editline] Chuck the backpacks in the bin I say.

Although as you say it's a big problem finding a fitting radio sometimes.
Acre all day, no contest. You can put a big radio in any pack
They're nice at making squad leaders identifiable. Although as you say it's a big problem finding a fitting radio sometimes.
This entire time I've been saying acre is better, but this may have swayed me [editline]29th October 2015[/editline] Oh yeah the antennas are great
let's counter
Squad leaders are also easy to identify if you rank them properly or understand the games marker system
Squad leaders are also easy to identify if you rank them properly or understand the games marker system
But the antennas coming out of their back looks cool in some cases.
No reason we couldn't just use tfar models to make regular backpacks Keep the antennas as an option but switch to ACRE and get better prox chat, hear the living when spectating
ArgH! spent all day uploading my video of Vremya Ostanovit'sya (Late I know) and when it finishes it only displays in 360p. Even an hour after publishing it (Usually more than enough time for it to process to at least 720p). Uploading it all again now, piece-o-shit.
it can take me 72 hours for shit to render sometimes
The file itself is only 25gb (1080p 60FPS) and it usually takes it less than an hour after the initial YouTube processing is done to get it to 1080p, 60FPS for me. It should have shifted to at least 480p by now. [editline]29th October 2015[/editline] Nevermind it's gone to 720p now. Crisis averted. [editline]29th October 2015[/editline] Also here's the video: I think the date and time on the thumbnail is wrong but I don't care at this point. Also the quality options are only 360p and 720p. What.
That's a double edged sword
What's the downside
What's the downside
Enemies can see who's a SQL as well.
Enemies can see who's a SQL as well.
Irrelevant when AI is involved but it would be an issue in PVP.
Not like there's ever any semblance of teamwork when we play tvt Having your sql/tl killed in a fparma tvt doesn't matter, it's just a deatchmatch anyway
Not like there's ever any semblance of teamwork when we play tvt Having your sql/tl killed in a fparma tvt doesn't matter, it's just a deatchmatch anyway
This should be rectified
vidya
I was mourning Kaukassus loss and you just come up and take all of his stuff. I hope you get haunted by his ghost.
Wait, if all of us have died at least once in our Ops, does this means we're all secretly ghosts?
