If any of you missed it you can check the hecticity from Alpha's perspective. Lordcrypto's recording is here http://www.twitch.tv/lordcrypto/v/9450939 I'm surprised how well we did good job lads.
And apologies to nicol who got lost on the side of the map, will make sure I have ares booted up to save people next time.
millenials? if you're that one dude that kinda sounds older, i'm p sure you're the only non-millenial here
"a person reaching young adulthood around the year 2000."
A young adult, according to Erik Erikson's stages of human development, is generally a person in the age range of 20 to 40, whereas an adolescent is a person aging from 13 to 19,
I don't think anyone here fits that description, at all.
LESSONS WERE LEARNED. [t]http://i.imgur.com/hPmnQHC.jpg[/t]
whos that sexy bastard standing on the submerged land rover
i figured "millenials" was just the way most older people referred to our generation
Where's Taggart.
yeah I'm here sup
my favourite part of the mission was where fragg was trying to do a brief before the town assault, the whole room was filled with smoke with "because I got HIGH, because I got HIGH" playing away in the background, SuicideZ entering the frame, getting shot by Holt and sandbagged half expected fragg to pull out a revolver and press it to his temple mid-talk, like a depressed father
i figured "millenials" was just the way most older people referred to our generation
I was trying to politely say all of the shitty autistic kids but in a manner that might go over their heads. Previously I was under the mistaken impression it basically referring to anyone born 2000 onwards. [editline]2nd August 2015[/editline] I'm a permanently angry man but I strongly feel that there are some roudy teenagers here who seem to lack the patience or mindset to play arma without resorting to teamkilling, being loud & annoying and generally causing drama.

Teamkilling someone because they teamkilled you just makes everything worse. It's a shame arma is so tough to moderate though, because people like that really need to be kicked. Especially some people who really ought to know better.
So... Arma 3 AI control in the vein of Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. i.e. not terrible. This actually makes me want to make a single player campaign if this is available.
We were testing out the Alive-mod, I was waiting for transport in the spawn when a helo flew over us and this happened:

This game makes me want to make ghost esque missions but I don't think they'd have anywhere the same atmosphere.
This game makes me want to make ghost esque missions but I don't think they'd have anywhere the same atmosphere.
You'll not be able to do it in the base game. The big hindrance for any sort of immersion in Arma 3, regarding the behaviour of the AI you're up against, is that they use the same exact animations as the player characters. They have no personality or believability as "human" enemies. They're strictly functional. You'll not get the ambient animations that you'll see Ghost Recon - dudes smoking, chatting, cooking food, etc. I know this can all be achieved in Arma, but the employment of it isn't ideal. There's a BIS_fnc that lets you play ambient anims on AI, but they'll be stuck in the anim, even when they're being shot at. There's a variation on the function that lets them react to contact, but you're restricted in what anims are available. I'd imagine fixing this could be done through an FSM, that gives the AI a list of "activities" they can do. AI behaviour in groups is super restrictive, so these ambient activities would be very scripted. Probably give them an array, like ["sit", "cook", "smoke", "patrol", "talk"], then it picks out the activity, checks the priority of that activity (maybe based on when it was last done, how near they are the the object...), then executes it.

And here is a script that is better than that fnc. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=26640

I'd like to see a few of those tied together so they can do a few idle activities, rather than doing one thing all the time.
If you know how to script, you could probably make one that makes them cycle, but I do not actually know how well that would mesh with that script. It would need a specific way to exit their animation.

They can, but there's literally a thousand things that BIS could be doing and since they're a company, whatever they're making costs them money in the form of wages.
Which is why they take their position of "we'll make the sandbox, you fill it with your own toys" Is kinda lame but I understand and respect it

Fparma official AAR now including court martial hearings when applicable /jokes
Mission was great despite the FPS. Shot some bad dudes, got shot by bad dudes, moaned about FPS and buffoonery and had good cheeky banter :ok: Videos to come...when it's done.
AARs are nice but they just take so long to write And on top of that, it's difficult to see what went wrong and what could be improved outside of behaviour and missionmaking Which doesn't mean we shouldn't do them, we just need to find the time to write them
Bravo squad's fun.

It just seemed to be SuicideZ from the chat I believe, which hasn't happened for a long time at least. For me it just seemed like good standard leading and everyone knew what to do regardless top job :ok: and having to buddy with Bravo at the start was great and we got some stuff done if indeed we were a little slow. Toad wasn't joking when he said it would be a hard mission.
I remember we had some Shack Tac members on the forums dunno if you're still here, or if you even played this mission, but I was wondering what the ratio was on it: the mission i'm working on is sort of similar, I'm wondering how the game was stacked
