I recently upgraded my GPU to one that isn't like 6 years old and got more RAM and A3 runs maybe just barely better. I don't get Arma's optimization.
Arma's bottleneck is pretty much the CPU.
Yeah, I recently upgraded to a 980 TI and saw no difference in performance. Next upgrade on my PC is going to be a CPU...which means a new motherboard as well...most likely a new case along with it.

Arma doesen't care if your CPU has 1000 4GHz Cores. Only one of them is actually carrying 95% of the workload.

But like you said, having one super high clock core would be the best way to run ARMA :v:
You can multi thread in single player by configuring your missions for headless client and running them in MP so that 1 core handles the game, 1 core handles the server and 1 the headless client.

Rendering and AI all Happen on Thread 0 (Main thread), unless you use Headless Client as Tinter mentioned, then AI will be Handled on Thread 1. There's minor things that run on various other threads, Among them being scripts being called with spawn for example. Now you may see an improvement when you have a lot of cores, If the mission your playing on is literally the worst thing ever and does gigantic calculations for no reason whatsoever (Assuming shitty scripts are in spawn calls).

Those seem to be key areas that really seem to mess up the quality of my videos. Other times it seems perfectly fine but if you look at my recent videos (The Afghan and made a mistake videos) you'll see what I mean.
