Could play an old mission if they work. Or do that Endgame mode?
Could play an old mission if they work. Or do that Endgame mode?
I just wanna play something, anything!
ARMA did a good job of smoke being affected by Helicopter blades and such, that's neat.
neat indeed, but that's the only neat usage of PHYSX i can think of i mean ragdolls are plain bad and act retarded in multiplayer most of the time, i'm almost back at wishing arma 2 death animations almost
Could play an old mission if they work. Or do that Endgame mode?
If people are up for it I can Zues depending on when I get back
Yes do that it was great last time.
grass, vegetation, smoke affected by helicopter rotors has nothing to do with PhysX, that was in engine before any PhysX implemented ...
So PhysX is only used for vehicle physics ? (and only for one iteam (the metal box(which is almost not used)) Edit : Anyone know how can we got something like this : [T]http://i.imgur.com/47NeVW6.png[/T] Edit2 : Oh , i need the profiling binary.
So PhysX is only used for vehicle physics ? (and only for one iteam (the metal box(which is almost not used))
Isn't the dust appearing when walking through sand / dirt done with physx?

https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Performance_Profiling DEV branch or PROFILING binary from PROFILING branch (or my dropbox) :) anyway 128 players KOTH is playable, now testing 132 and 144 maxplayer servers [editline]6th September 2015[/editline]
Isn't the dust appearing when walking through sand / dirt done with physx?
afaik again that was in engine prior PhysX (e.g. OA, dust behind vehicles etc)
did I said something like that? it fully depends what you run, (mission, scripting, amount of objects, how handling those objects) hardware of server matters too (some weak xeons or VM setups are terrible vs >32 players or lot AI) and yes, I'm fully aware KOTH is barebone PvP , but basic running well is must
lmao bullshit you guys at least used to admit the game had severe optimization problems, now it seems a memo has been passed around saying imply its the players fault and out of our control, which only seems to have happened right after you guys released a series of abysmal "performance" patches which made the game run WORSE, amazingly. ArmA 3 has the exact same problems ArmA 2 has, which had the exact same problems ArmA 1 had. and here we have to sit with our thumbs up our arses only to hope you guys dont shit the bed AGAIN when ArmA 4 arrives. The game runs like shit for what it does regardless of mission design.
agreed. arma 3 is horribly optimized, and no matter how you try to sugar coat it a simple analysis of your CPU's workload while playing is enough to find out all you neeed to know: in 6 years they haven't managed to make the game use more than one core
Might overclock my CPU to 9.9GHZ I think that'll get me some good performance
oh well, before you go into "it's single core" and not threaded w/e not possible talk ... CPU load with quadcore i5 (no HT) showing KOTH battlezone with 90+ players at screen (windowed in background) [T]http://i.imgur.com/M4R9pSX.jpg[/T] CPU load with quadcore Xeon (with HT) serving 118 players ingame (~125 on server) [T]http://i.imgur.com/DmcdnmX.jpg[/T] of course this don't mean I'm happy with it and I will not rest until it's 128 players in 4k on 60+fps smooth like {imagine w/e you want}
•
The problem is the fact that you need a high clock speed like that in order to get reasonable results. Try that again with a sub-3ghz clock speed processor and see the difference that the majority of us are complaining about. Especially when AI is concerned. But, credit where credit is due: thank you for responding to the criticism at all. You're lightyears better than PGI's Mechwarrior PR people.
I still don't get how can i get 30fps if : all cores are at like 70% gpu is at 33% It doesn't make any sense. One of them should bottleneck the other one... CPU : [t]http://puu.sh/k1Wna/9bad362781.jpg[/t] GPU (The only one in red is ArmA at ~33% GPU usage) : [t]http://puu.sh/k1Wmg/f5b256a0a2.jpg[/t] What the hell is happening ? Edit : It (i think) must be only related to ArmA III, because the stress test shows 100% gpu usage

Whats the bottleneck then? the network?
I don't think the game engine is waiting for each packets to come :v: Could be the HDD ? No it's threaded.
I think I can confidently say from experience at least that HDD lookup is at least one of the reasons for a lot of the freezing and hiccups. Maybe because of not enough RAM? I don't know. Because the difference between playing with HDD and SSD is pretty stark, especially with a lower-end amount of RAM for nowadays.
So has it actually improved? Only fps problem. If you're talking about the forum megathread, i'm too lazy to read 200 pages.
If you're talking about the forum megathread, i'm too lazy to read 200 pages.
No need. The last page sums it up: zero improvement, zero official response.
;) [editline]6th September 2015[/editline] really though give dwarden a break while i've yelled at him in the past he's obviously not at blame for all of arma3s problems
It's actually really cool to see [a] dev(s) going on facepunch to post news and talk about the game (and game problems)

If you're talking about the forum megathread, i'm too lazy to read 200 pages.
I have superfetch disabled because it actually made loading large textures worse for me, since other things were prioritized in RAM. That's just how it was for me, however, I also heard that it makes some people's RAM usage shoot up when it's off. Did not happen to me.
oh well, before you go into "it's single core" and not threaded w/e not possible talk ... of course this don't mean I'm happy with it and I will not rest until it's 128 players in 4k on 60+fps smooth like {imagine w/e you want}
This is really great, but it seems none of us are reaching 100% CPU usage/GPU usage like we should be, is there a reason for this? Do we know why? Is it a bottleneck on our end? I have a pretty good PC, as I've stated many times over and I still don't utilize all my resources, and my FPS is still pretty garbage (when other players have 6-11 FPS it's the same way for me, it seems we ALL get 6-11 FPS for some reason.)
Now that I'm done playing MGSV I'm going to start working on a small TvT that I think has great potential. Who should I talk to in order to get the mission on the server and where?

at least 130m

Give the other forces some aa capability [editline]7th September 2015[/editline] or air assets of their own
