Crossposting this screenshot from the Mad Max thread [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/434950296031740675/CB96C950307009501E6C7B64BAFC185C0FC86AD7/[/t] I fucking love me some good particle effects.
MGS5. Quiet is cute. [t]http://i4.minus.com/iboyjQOVNTMiwe.jpg[/t]
I'm sorry but I have to say it because it has always pissed me off about Metal Gear but does anybody else find it ridiculous that a game that makes a statement on rape has one of the female characters prance around in a bikini for half the game in an active warzone? It's shit like that that keeps me from getting in to Metal Gear. It tries to be so serious but it often contradicts itself with silliness and loses all meaning. [editline]ass[/editline] Also judging by the boxfort I'm assuming someone ran to the Metal Gear thread and said "this guy said something bad about Metal Gear!" Can't say I didn't see it coming considering how absolutely rabid that fanbase is.
Hey man just because she dresses that way doesn't mean she is asking for it.
That's not my point. My point is it is kind of objectifying and exploitative to put a girl in a bikini for virtually no reason. It kind of nullifies the fact that the game is being so critical of rape while also putting one of its main character in an overly skimpy outfit to be and eye-candy waifu for the player.

You can watch snake's mother die in his arms and then a hairless monkey wearing chrome pants waddles into the frame all in the space of about 10 seconds.
You can watch snake's mother die in his arms and then a hairless monkey wearing chrome pants waddles into the frame all in the space of about 10 seconds.
Okay I'm sold
No, I think basically every game (that has optimisation worth something) uses this. Ever heard of LoD? That's what it should do. My guess is either the Fox engine isn't particularly happy using those or they just forgot/didn't care, it happens. But different models/textures in relation to "camera" distance is widespread and used in just about everything.
Fair enough. Thing is I knew about LOD just for some reason didn't think of it. i appreciate the explanation though. So yeah, sorry... I may be stubborn sonetimes, but when I'm wrong I'm wrong. Don't mind me, just being dumb is all. :v:

Most men would just ignore the fact that the character they are playing is a buff af dude simply because they are not attracted to men, but if a woman were to see that same character, they may have a different opinion. Honestly I find it hilarious that anyone cares at all, or rather, that they care in a way that is against it. Sex is a pretty sweet part of being human, and seeing attractive things is pretty great too.

Virtual balloons are just silly. :sex101: EDIT: And this comes from a person, who never even gets to touch the real thing!
Sex is a pretty sweet part of being human, and seeing attractive things is pretty great too.
Yes thank gosh I'm human so that I get into the highly exclusive sexual race club. Bunny rabbits be hatin'

At least it sounded dumb though, since most living things are not aware of their instincts as far as I know.

explosions in MGS looks like utter and absolute shit compared to the one in Mad Max that's for sure
Pics of MGSV to successfully make Raizo jealous Thread :c

Also, for being named Quiet, she's quite fucking not quiet. In missions she spams your radio with her humming, the same audio loop, and she does it extremely god damn frequently. Like, sometimes you'll hear the same loop 10 times within 10 seconds. Not kidding. How did it get through testing?
and seeing attractive things is pretty great too.
I find it awfully distracting to be honest. It isn't that it is bad, but it ruins the tone for me and takes me out of the game. I'm not being prudish, but there is a place and time for fanservice and it really just doesn't work in a game that is trying to be taken seriously.

MGSV is a super serious game at times and then you turn a corner and two of your tough mercenary dudes are discussing the softness of a puppies paw pads.

Serious stuff happening one minute and then it's followed by something really goofy. If you don't like that kind of tone then you won't like MGS anyway. MGS would be really bad if it was 100% serious.
Been spending a few hours on Starmade trying to come up with good ship designs, and so far all i've managed is a fancy Goa'uld throne.

Albeit the other games in the series were less serious anyways but it seems like since IV the series has tried to be darker but that tonal shift conflicts with the classic goofiness. I would rather have it one way or the other but that's just me. Also, I know I'm probably being a total buzzkill and believe me, I want to try the game for myself, but I don't want to spend $60 right now and I especially don't want to give Konami any money. I mean, Kojima and his studio are gone anyways so I don't think the people who actually made the game would even see a cent from my purchase, and I don't feel like supporting a company that axes off employees out of spite and kills beloved franchises for no apparent reason.

Before shitting on anything, actually understand the context and the reason why. Assuming someone like Kojima does something just for the sake of it is really silly. He's one of the few that goes to extreme depths just to validate the existence of everything in his games.
except that its a really good open world game with an engaging story even to newcomers of the series
So many things that don't make sense if you're new.
