Have you even played them? Pay some attention next time, there are massive differences in the graphics engines.

Sure you can add DoF and Motionblur with far higher quality than any real-time application. I have both PCARS and Driveclub, and there's no question about it. Driveclub looks way better in motion than PCARS. It's clear that Evolution has a lot more experience in the field. The scenery in Driveclub is also easily superior with their fucking incredibly accurate weather, volume clouds, wind & time of day systems. driveclub's selling point is its graphics [editline]5th April 2015[/editline] it was pretty much made to be a next gen racing game with the sole purpose of showing off what new consoles can dish out pcars is continually updated with a huge modding scene with the intention for the game to be populated and modded for a long, long time. who's not to say that weather effects won't be added
pretty bad choice of comparison, one is night+rain and one is day
One day I'll get around to comparing the same car on a similar track and same time of day in both games. Until then, PCARS has some room for improvement as the graphics are looking pretty "flat". Evolution studios is clearly focused on having high physical accuracy in the rendering, and it pays off.
driveclub's selling point is its graphics
I personally really really like Driveclub's sound engine. :c [editline]6th April 2015[/editline] The thing that annoys me with PCars is that it definitely feels like a modded Shift 2, especially the handling. Oh and that most of the "Shots of the week" were heavily post-processed in photoshop.

Maybe they've fixed the more glaring physics issues the past year or so, but cars had a tendency to act very erratically, especially on collisions and off-road. I want it to be a better Gran Turismo.

i have to agree with the shift 2 handling. shift and shift 2 had the stiffest, most unresponsive handling i've ever experienced in a driving game that i've experienced and that's why i can't get in to pcars. it definitely feels like money wasted
driveclub's selling point is its graphics [editline]5th April 2015[/editline] it was pretty much made to be a next gen racing game with the sole purpose of showing off what new consoles can dish out pcars is continually updated with a huge modding scene with the intention for the game to be populated and modded for a long, long time. who's not to say that weather effects won't be added
think you're getting games confused here, pcars has next to no modding support and already has dynamic weather effects (you can start a race in the sunshine and have it turn to a thunderstorm over the course of the race)
I personally really really like Driveclub's sound engine. :c
PCARS and Driveclub have the best car sound engines around as far as I know. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/05/29/why-driveclub-could-be-the-most-realistic-sounding-racing-game-ever/ I can't find much info about how PCARS does their recording, but it certainly sounds impressive in-game.
as for the actual gameplay at the moment, the handling is definitely better but still not perfect. some cars are better than others. the career mode is pretty great, and it's nice to have something with almost sim-like physics that has a career mode because the PC doesn't have many titles that do that. hopefully they're still working on gamepad controls, because the steering is really twitchy but maybe i'm just used to using a wheel for so long

Also, I wasn't aware they've added a working career mode, I'll have to check that out.
http://puu.sh/h2VMt.png Tell me about one modern 3D game where you can't frame a screenshot to look terrible :v:
well that's a screenshot of an unfinished track, and project cars is an alpha. i don't wanna keep arguing but you're really not giving pcars the credit it deserves, i'm gonna turn a few laps in the rain similarly to your drive club video and will upload it here and you're going to be surprised
Project CARS is nearing launch, and has been delayed several times. No longer an Alpha by any means. (Just saying etc..)
While we're on the topic of car sounds. I still think this is the best sounding car game trailer of all time. 1:10 still gives me chills. [sp]Too bad it was all dubbed in post.[/sp] [editline]5th April 2015[/editline] Out of all the racing games and sims I've played, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit had the best sound design. I don't know what it is about the Need for Speed games that makes them sound so good, probably because EA loves to spend big bucks on sound, but it's my benchmark in racing sound design. Everything sounded incredible in Hot Pursuit. I'm guessing that because Hot Pursuit isn't a sim, there might be some liberties they can take in how they decide to play sound versus how a sim would do it but that's just me. Maybe I have a distorted view of what these cars should sound like. It's very rare for a racing sim to actually impress me with sound and if it does it's usually on a very case by case basis. Assetto Corsa's Ferrari F40 and Zonda R are examples of great sound in a racing sim, but they're such the exception rather than the rule.
shadowplay fucked with the colours a little, but pcars has come a long way over the course of development and Paul I think you must have some idea of what pcars used to look like rather than what it looks like now when you make your comparisons. both games look good, one is arcade-y and one is more realistic so at the end of the day who gives a shit [vid]http://a.pomf.se/bjfxpt.mp4[/vid]
i don't remember it being too bad other than the texture popping
it was the fucking worst holy shit the game somehow defies logic and is fun to play but it does not have a single solid feature instead of the skyboxes moving for some reason it's the maps that move (???) and it causes wonky physics as you can imagine a huge 3d model acting as a map moving forward would
Shift 2 had really good engine sounds. Really loud, really distorted, like it would be in one of those cars

Watch out El Presidente you might rip a hole through space time with those frames per second.

What is wrong with your aspect ratio?
What is wrong with your aspect ratio?
No clue, actually. I changed my desktop resolution one day and launched the game, then changed it back to my usual resolution the next, and the game looks like that. Even though the resolution settings have stayed the same in-game. I tried lowering the resolution then setting it back to normal, but the aspect is still fucked up. If anybody has a fix, it would be appreciated, besides redownloading the game because my internet sucks.
