this might seem fussy but it doesnt look like a codemasters game being released in 2015, it looks worse than dirt2. i dont think good gameplay is any excuse there are games like project cars and assetto corsa with both great graphics and gameplay made by smaller studios
PCARS and AC are both bigger teams as far as I'm aware. Codemasters was cut back massively and DiRT Rally was only made by 20 people or so.

I'm using a g27 and really not enjoying it, I've got it set to 270 degrees rotation in the profiler and my first issue is that I feel like I can't make the majority of turns because I don't have enough wheel lock, but setting it higher means that the in-game visual wheel and my own wheel are completely out of sync (I prefer using the in-game wheel as a visual reference, and when they're out of sync everything feels really offputting) Second issue is the force feedback is literally terrible, like every other codemasters game ever - it's just random vibrations. You can visibly see the wheel ingame being thrown all over the place while your own wheel is completely still, which again is really offputting. There's definitely some feedback but it isn't correct from what I can tell Honestly feeling like I've wasted £20 atm
Sorry about the reckless and clumsy driving. My first time trying that car. Go to 00:28 for a sweet lightning strike. (that should have made a loud noise, it seems weird without any noise) I wish PS4 video capture didn't make games look so blurry. I think the new Dirt game looks nicer than Dirt 3 especially because they removed that hideous instagram filter.

It sounds absolutely nothing like a V12, and there's no difference between any of the engines that have one.
do you race with a wheel? and what camera do you race with? It feels incredible though. As for the FFB, that's basically the number one complaint right now, and they're acknowledging it just about everywhere they see it mentioned. This time around we also have the advantage of it being an early access game, so we have more influence on how it's developed as opposed to hoping for patches afterwards. I trust Codemasters and they've really gotten their shit together lately especially with feedback, so I'd just hold out for now because I think they'll fix the things you're talking about.

They should sound like the real cars, because they sounds are from the real cars.
Um, vehicle sounds are recorded directly from the real life counterparts with between 16 and 27 mics in various locations around and in the cars.
That absolutely 100% isn't the case for some cars. The F50 uses that exact same sound, as with the LaFerrari. They might both be V12 engines but there are enough changes that Ferrari will have made between 1995 and 2014 that a F50 and LaFerrari sound completely different. I think the GTA Spano also uses that sound, and it's a V10, which is extremely distinct. EDIT: GTA Spano's sound is different upon double checking, but again it's nothing like a V10 at all. The R8 V10 uses the same sound as well, and that one is off too. Same with any 6 cylinder engines, they sound totally off. The cars with inline 4s and V8s sound good if a bit quiet, but the I/V6s, V10s and V12s are nowhere near accurate. The Veneno is pretty much the only V12 that actually sounds like one ingame.

The way they've modeled the water on the windscreen, pooling and being swept away. I've never seen a PC racing title do it THAT realistically. And that's the one thing I'll praise console racers for - when you know 100% the exact hardware specs you have to work with down to the last tiny detail, you can develop a game so precisely to max out that hardware and really carefully tailor details like that without having to worry if this or that configuration can handle or even display it. It's the one thing console's have over PC's I feel, that hard set hardware - yes in a few years it starts working against it, but you can't deny the merits when it comes to pushing your game to its absolute max. I wish I could play THAT on pc so bad.

The best thing about dirt rally is the pace notes were recorded by a dude who has done real rally before, they had him strapped into a simulator seat so you can hear his voice change when you are flying around corners. Its unique for every track. http://blog.codemasters.com/dirt/04/co-driver-calls-explained/

Every single sound I've heard in it is absolutely fantastic and extremely faithful to any footage I see of the real things. Easily some of the best, if not the best sound design in a racing game.
