I bought the game when it was in an early access kinda thing, and now they want me to buy it again so I'm ditching it :v:
Did you not get your coupon? Depending on what pack you initially bought into you should've got a Steam coupon (requires you to have activated the Steam version back when they released it)
I was a team member so I got 50% off, after spending £20 initially. I'm not buying it because I've played enough of it in its current state so I'm waiting until they fix the shitty AI and the numerous bugs.
Oh and make sure you've got your paypal e-mail hooked up to your forum account so you can get sales returns, I'm gonna wait until mine come in before buying I think. It's kinda silly that they expect us to buy it (even discounted) when I've spent 2 years being an active member helping them develop the game
So you paid for it in EA to help fund the games development and get into the game early and they screw you over
Essentially.
I'm sure they point out in some terms of service or whatever that this wouldn't be the case, but I was pretty convinced that I was going to be keeping the game when it released.
You know, like every other early-access-ish game.

Yeah I got this 20% off voucher, but they've lost me as a customer.
they haven't really screwed you over, it was made perfectly clear that you were paying towards the game so a £10 pledge would mean you only have to pay £30 for the final product. i think it's a dick move, especially to the people that worked hard to help out with the game (i made a couple of car liveries) but i was expecting it
and you should be getting returns on your initial investment of £10 too, i've got no idea when and how much though
Well, aren't I glad that I didn't buy it before it was on Steam then. :v: The only complaint I really have about the game is that its a little choppy in the rain (GTX970, shouldn't be happening) and the AI is retarded and don't sense you're around and will tap you and throw you into a wall. Other than that, the game is pretty great. I'd have to say... One of the most funnest racing games I've played. And best looking, too.
Did they fix everything, I got a refund for my pledge ages ago because the game sucked.
Did they fix everything, I got a refund for my pledge ages ago because the game sucked.
not really, AI still sucks, physics/ffb is still very simcade leaning more towards sim slightly
empty box did a great video commenting on the hype surrounding the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eD7o_f7s0Y
I'm glad I got a refund for that game now.
I guess if it didn't say that you would get the final product that's fair enough.
But I mean they didn't even give people as much as a 10% discount to "backers" as a thanks for helping for the funding during development, the countless amount of bugs that were helped to be crushed, the modding which has added extra (unofficial) release content, or for those sweet ass fan trailers which got posted up to loads of news sites, lessening their need to advertise.

This page which has been around since the project started clearly states what you get for each membership level if you buy into it, so if you didn't read it that's not really the developers fault.
this game is really hard

I don't want to blame them, I think the entire concept of the development of it is a great thing.
I just wasn't very observant and I was caught off guard, and I don't have the money right now to buy the full game.
I was considering buying project cars because I just really want a racing game that is just about no-frills racing. Every time I play Dirt 2 I have to deal with that tryhard menu system on rails that makes me want to shoot myself.
I'd just like to launch game > start a race > change settings quickly> pick a car > vroom in the span of a minute. Would project cars fit that requirement?

if you want a sim experience get stock car extreme or one of the SimBin games, otherwise pcars is a pretty good bet
but, depending on what you mean by "no frills", pcars is still a game that rewards putting in effort. if you set the AI to the lowest and have all the assists on, you're just going to come first every race and have no reward for doing so. a lot of console players are complaining that there's no reward for coming first like in forza or gran turismo, and that's because the you're supposed to feel rewarded for even hitting the podium, or for nailing an apex, making a sick overtake, etc
no frills racing makes me think of forza or need for speed
I guess by "no frills" I mean: Minimalist HUD, fast, minimalist in-game menu, placement rewards and car management are optional and/or irrelevant.
The fact that it's a sim with good graphics is just a bonus, I appreciate the level of quality in the game. I more meant that I hope it's really racing-centric and I don't have to spend 5 minutes navigating the main menu before I can set up a race or get into the career mode.

the menu is simple and you can fully customise the setup for quickraces/timetrials and theres a ton of options. i dont think it really has forza/gt style rewards, in the carer i think if you do well you get offered events.
i havnt actually played the release version because i dont have a wheel and im not sure if id be able to set it up with my yoke/rudder pedals

One of the major improvements in Dirt: rally is that the UI isn't shit.

I love the UI in Dirt Rally. Extremely functional. None of that takes-5-hours-to-get-into-the-game thing that dirt3 did.

Stock Car Extreme is great. There's a 30 day limited demo and a 60 minute full demo of it on their site. Going to buy that instead of pCars. Also, if you hate money there is always iRacing, which has the best online racing if you ask me at least. But Stock Car Extreme probably has the best offline racing.

i've blown like £140 on iRacing, + £120 for my dfgt, then £200 for my g27, i thought this was supposed to be a cheap alternative hobby to real racing

The hints in dying light can be pretty funny.
you should try formula gulf 1000 its my favourite class, the AI is so damn aggressive though it doesnt show up so well but the fucker sideswiped me into the barrier. also yoke & rudder pedals works but the toe breaks are uncomfortable to use as accelerate/break and theres pretty limited rotation on the yoke. any £100ish wheels worth getting?

Here we see an example of the aggressive nature of car mating rituals. In order to mate, both male and female must shed the protective shells surrounding their reproductive organs.
In 9 months the female will produce a litter of green offspring.

I always love how much of a bad ass you feel when the music picks up and you're gun to gun with the actual military.
Too bad they ventilate me 9 out of 10 times.
