i've blown like £140 on iRacing, + £120 for my dfgt, then £200 for my g27, i thought this was supposed to be a cheap alternative hobby to real racing
I think iRacing is worth it, but I don't spend all that money on it either. But people coming from other racing simulators to iRacing will no doubt think it is expensive, because it is in comparison. Still cheaper than real racing. :v:
iRacing is an incredible experience and definitely worth trying out for anybody interested in simracing. I did it for about a month and it's really the best racing you'll get in a sim if you ask me. Nothing will make you feel more like you're doing it "for real" than iRacing. It can get expensive though, both in time and money. You have seriously to set aside hours of your day if you want to play a session of iRacing.
I've always wanted to get more into it, but it's such a hassle to set up the wheel that I've more or less stopped playing any of the hardcore racing sims.
Time for some more Exanima.

This game is still amazing and pretty damn intense without any real means to heal yourself (except for like 3 super well hidden potions in the whole game)
The character seems drunk.
I'm glad advances are being made with physics-based movement though. If devs continue perfecting this, I think a while from now animations will be a thing of the past and it'll all be behavioral movements, which will be so kicking rad
[editline]11th May 2015[/editline]
Like imagine a game where Euphoria is used for all the movements instead of just when someone needs to be toppled over. When you clip the edge of some geometry, instead of just sliding a couple feet to the side, maybe the guy's foot will get caught for a second and he'll stumble a bit. It would seriously be so cool
I found it pretty interesting how much I move while driving and how much the TrackIR reflects that. It's like that look ahead driver cam that the Shift games and Project Cars try to do, but I'm instinctively doing all the movements myself.
For some reason the video came out really juddery. I'm not sure why the recording came out that way, I've always had a lot of trouble using OBS instead of Shadowplay.

jk its mine i made it go play it http://www.kongregate.com/games/CScavone/unlimited-golf
i love trackir. i mean it's not necessary for driving games, but i used it all the time in dirt 2 and the replays were always worth the watch because it's record your head tracking movements and it just all looked and felt so natural. especially around tight bends

I think Euphoria and the like are great, but animations will never go away. You can't get the same detail and personality into an animation generated by a computer the same way an artist can. At least not for a long time. A mix of both will be the best solution.
When it comes to Exanima, your character looks less drunk once you get the hang of the controls and you start moving properly.
As far as swordfighting goes, we don't even have a model for ascertaining the biomechanics behind how to actuate different swings and cuts, so behavioral animations will most likely never replace pre-made ones unless we have like quantum computing or something to back the calculations up.
Did a test recording at 120fps.

You'll need a 120hz browser (Chrome), a 120hz monitor and a fast GPU to view the last one.
The reload animation is really bad though

You can say that for most guns in CS:GO.

Had a quick go at Take on Mars' Zero-G orbit scenarios. So cool.
First thing they make you do is push yourself off the space station to another pod that has your RCS packs on it. Aka, I could have easily pushed myself in the wrong direction and been unable to move at all.

The map contains a 3d printer too, so you could sit and make your own base in zero-g if you feel like it. Game has changed so much since its early access release.
Out of interest I wanted to see if a dev build of Project Cars still worked and, well, it does, so here's some eye candy

Sadly the photo mode is really limited, there's no free camera - you can only rotate around your own car and quite often there's invisible walls stopping you from looking at certain angles (I assume to avoid you seeing behind track boundaries and thus seeing backface culling and whatnot). As well as that, you can't hide the photo mode UI (which covers 30% of the screen and can't be photoshopped out) so have to take the photo in-game, head to the in game photo viewer and then screenshot that. Only, the screenshots there have already gone through jpeg compression and look pretty poor. Hopefully there'll be some changes to that in the future.

Xen was by far the worst part of Half Life so it not being in the game yet doesn't really bother me.
I think this video is a pretty good representation of an average round for me, and a pretty good representation of Battlefield 4 as a whole.
It involves adversity, funny deaths, pointless struggles, glorious kit-switching, missile-dodging, combined-arms warfare, tactics, salty tears, hard-earned kill-streaks, shit-talking, cheesing-it, IFVs overcoming MBTs, assisting suicides, long-range marksmanship, short-range brawling, flanking, rushing, jumping, multi-tasking, and how losing doesn't mean you can't have fun.
Available in glorious Full HD @ 60FPS:
